Appearance

Livia has always been regarded as a pretty face that her mother used to be heard saying it would make marrying her off easier just to be rid of her. She favoured her father, whose family are all of handsome appearance with their dark brown hair and olive eyes. Her hair had caused a stir when her magic became corrupted at fourteen years old, the ends of her hair suffered a loss of colour. Many believed this was a stress response as her father passed, but the corruption and difficult nature her power took on grew unbalanced, and so the colour drained higher and higher up from her dark locks.

Despite making her easy to spot, she chose not to go through the high maintenance of colouring her hair and decided on wearing it how it wants to be seen. It appears that with each passing year, an inch or more will be drained of colour. There is no way of knowing what would happen if her whole head were to be consumed, nor a way to slow the process.

After finding the depths of her second magic, Livia now has hair that is a solid silvery white. Due to keeping up appearances, there are days spent returning her hair to it's previous look, dyeing her hair to keep up pretenses.

Skills and Abilities

With the ability to always find what others seek, Livia’s training at the Academy has her focusing on working in the shadows. This unique skill would prove useful upon graduation, and it has been heavily encouraged she chooses to join the Guard.

When focused and able to wield, it has been proven that any long ranged weaponry would be quick to master by Quinnick, as her aim is always true thanks to her gift. Although she is quick with her reflexes, close quarter combat is still an ability she would like to perfect,

With the corruption of her magic, it often leads Quinnick unable to ignore the beacon call of a lost item or being. Prone to light headaches to blacking out, it is a difficult ability to not heed the call. Oftentimes before a mission, she is unable to sleep as the call makes her restless. This often means she could be found wandering the grounds in deep thought, doing her best to keep the headaches at bay as whoever is to accompany her on those missions would not leave in the middle of the night to help ease Livia's wits.

Now fully accessible and controlled, corruption magic becomes easier to navigate in conjunction with her compass magic. Livia can use it to wittle down strengthened wards, disrupt a flow or channel of magic, and can additionally momentarily hinder casting of herself or others.

Personality

During her first year at the Academy, she was a shy and meek girl that was afraid to tap into an aggression needed to pass the physical component of her training. After being knocked down countless times, she soon learned what was needed in order to survive. This mindset stuck with her, knowing she was still not the strongest combatant in her class, but had endured pain better than most. Her ability to get back up, even in the worst of states, is a credit to her determination.

Anger was a welcome burn for Quinnick, having bottled it inside due to the scrutiny given by her mother growing up. She possessed a rage that she did not know was her own, blaming it on her mother’s rage at the time of her father’s death, but perhaps this was an evolution of generational rage. In order to keep herself focused and dedicated to seeing herself at graduation, Quinnick has mostly kept to herself, finding places to hide and often busying herself with honing her skills without prying eyes.

Despite her lovely appearance, Livia can only be described as a mean girl when the need calls for it. Her warmth and friendship is rare, but could be counted on as a team player. Regardless of her lone wolf preference, she is still able to be social when the time calls for it and represents her House and nobility well... unless her mother asks her of it.

Biography & Lore

The youngest and only daughter of Caelum and Idella (née Adalstein) of the noble House Quinnick, a small, minor house. Livia was brought up from a young age to be appealing to the marriage mart, although once she began to voice her own dreams as a child, her father doted on her and promised the world to her. Whatever inspiration she had, she was given freedom to explore.

The House colours are depicted cornflower blue and pearl, a tradition to name the children of this house with ties to either colour. Their sigil has twin foxes running to either side, which denotes their cunning mind.

House Quinnick is a young nobility house that were bestowed this honourable title five generations before them, a gift from the Crown for their efforts in successful trading in spices to Vel Anir and outlier cities. Their new venture in producing stellar blooms of various flowers (including the famous cornflowers) began with the grandfather of the late Caelum Quinnick, who searched far and wide for the seedlings of the flowers his sweetheart, and later wife, adored. The Estate is filled with these blooms, employing staff to keep the blooms healthy and vibrant over the years. In present times, the blooms have now been planted so that there are flowers in each season.

A trait passed down to each Quinnick stems from a form of magic, giving each of those born into the family the ability to -find- what they are seeking. This usually takes form in a keen mind, able to decipher information and produce an informed solution. Rare circumstances have allowed an individual to manifest this ability to a larger scope, Caelum Quinnick being the first in as many generations, and rarer still, his daughter inheriting the same.

Her magic never manifested beyond being able to track, being pulled by invisible strings to the very object that is lost. It meant her childhood was tidy, having all her belongings accounted for, save for the few dolls her brothers had liberated from the dollhouse and given untimely departures.

This shared gift with her father only made her connection with him that more cherished, and on his passing disrupted her ability and awakened her slumbering magic. Distraught and unable to console herself, it was Livia at the age of fourteen that found her father dead and slumped against the cast iron gates admitting those into the Estate. In a desperate plea to bring him back, her magic expelled from her in such a burst that the rain bounced off of it for a few seconds. In the days after, the Quinnicks were in mourning and detached from the youngest member as she chose to hide, her eldest brother Okko finding her in the old tree house near the back of the estate. At the age of twenty six, Okko told her of the Academy. Rather than be snatched from her home, she could be presented to become an Initiate but they were running out of time with Revolution in the air.

It was the promise of learning her magic that drew her to the idea, but her first month admitted as an Initiate decided her fate until graduation. Dragged from her bed in the dead of night, she was blindfolded and taken to areas far from the Academy, dumped in the cold air and told by Initiates to find her way back home. These incidents stopped happening after three months, after Quinnick experienced an episode so great she was said to be in a fugue state and unable to recollect her memories when the next morning found her with two dead bodies of Initiates from her class. She was no longer considered a weak Dreadlord in training, but that does not stop others from downplaying her usefulness to a team. One of the best trackers, Livia is often given missions meant to hunt and scout, a role she enjoys taking point.
