Silas Artesto is a human Dreadlord Initate currently studying at Vel Anir's academy. Initially raised by the Anirian Guard after the death of his military parents, he was instead sent to the Dreadlord Academy when he began to show signs of magical ability. Prodigious in his speed and control of his body, as well as his ability to create mirror images or "echoes" of himself, Silas is often considered the best option in his class for scouting and stealth assignments.

Harboring a deep grudge towards the non-humans for the killing of his parents, Silas is determined to become the highest-ranking Dreadlord possible so that he can wield the power he needs to exact some measure of vengeance against the ones he sees as responsible for the abrupt ending to his childhood. Unbeknownst to Silas, the true manner in which his parents met their end has been hidden from him.

Appearance

Silas is a fair-skinned human with bright blonde hair and hazel eyes. To compliment his extremely fit frame and agile nature, he prefers to wear tight, flexible clothing, usually the special suit that the Academy made for him-- a black form-fitting body suit that wraps around him down to his ankles, wrists, and neck. Artesto usually wears more ordinary clothing over this suit, however, usually sticking to coats, jackets, and vests that can be easily removed in seconds.

Skills and Abilities

Artesto has the unique ability to create vibrations in and around his body. Silas can control the frequency of these vibrations in order to achieve different effects. Used while running, they can grant him a high degree of speed. In combat, they can be used to repel projectiles or create shockwaves to push objects and enemies. Perhaps most impressively, Silas can even tune these vibrations to pass through especially thin walls.

Silas has also mastered the ability to create echoes of himself through his magic; These mirror images can be left behind by Artesto as he moves to confuse and disorient opponents. This ability is quite useful when utilized correctly, but pointless if not performed adequately-- while the echoes are extremely lifelike, they are also static and will dissipate if attacked or touched in any manner. Silas aims to fix these flaws and perfect the technique further as he nears graduation.

Personality

Silas is a confident, outgoing, and determined young man. While he has complete faith in his abilities and the power they offer him, he's not so egotistical that he believes himself infallible. The Dreadlords are important to him, both his fellow Initiates and those above him, but he's aware that not all of his comrades share that sentiment. So long as they do not let their opinions interfere with him, though, he doesn't care for such insecurities; He is unafraid to rely on others, and in return, he expects not to be disappointed by them.

Biography & Lore

Born the only son of a young couple both prominent and successful within the Anirian Guard, Artesto was not conscripted in the same manner as many of his peers. On the contrary, Silas' talent for magic had yet to show itself when he was taken under the city's care. Artesto had been left an orphan, his parents having been killed very early in his life in one of Vel Anir's many tumultuous conflicts, reportedly by a band of bloodthirsty elves in a cowardly ambush.

Rather than leave him on the streets, The Guard opted to take their fallen comrades' child into their care out of respect for the exemplary service his parents had given them. Their initial plan was to raise the young Artesto into a soldier for the Guard, but it quickly became apparent that Silas was not an ordinary child. The boy would begin to show glimpses of magical ability, namely his speed, which was inhuman. Without hesitation he was sent to the Academy, to be trained as a Dreadlord.

Silas never saw this as a negative. The Academy, though oftentimes brutal, appreciated him for his talents. They treated him like a warrior, just as his parents had been. He would learn how to fight, hone his magical abilities and become stronger than any sharpear has ever been.

And he'd blow through anybody who got in his way.
