Henk
A quiet and oft timid young man, the Dreadlord Apprentice known only by the name 'Henk' is human male from the city of Vel Anir. Born a bastard son and left to fend for himself on the city streets at a very young age, Henk made do on stolen scraps and dark alleyways where there were no hearty dinners and warm beds to be found. The young boy was, unfortunately, ill-talented in the fine art of thievery, however, and this often led him into violent fights with both other urchins and the people that he stole from
It was through these fights that the beginnings of his magical prowess began to show. The Anirian Guard would begin to frequently find victims blinded, with burns across their bodies as though they'd run through a fire. It was initially suspected that a pyromancer was on the loose, but when at last the culprit was found via the overwhelming might and numbers of the guard to be no more than a child with a blossoming talent for magic that he could not control, the orphan thief was conscripted into the Dreadlords.
Now coming of age, having grown up under the strict, unforgiving teachings of a military that sees him as a weapon to be used and little else, he witnesses the changes brought about by revolution. These people, while heartless in their training of him, were the only ones who had ever accepted him. Will these new Proctors, these revolutionaries dispose of him? Or will he find something new, something he'd not known he was missing within the new regime?
Appearance
Henk is an athletically built young man, thanks in no small part to the unforgiving training he has been put through since becoming a Dreadlord. He wears clothes that tend to sacrifice style for functionality, simple coats, tight shirts and loose-fitting trousers that allow him more mobility than something more complicated would offer. He has many piercings, although these were not his choice; a crippling fear of sharp objects was noted very early in his education, and one method of attempting to break said fear was the forced piercing of his ears and brows. His most defining trait is likely the long scar that runs from the right side of his mouth across his cheek, inflicted by a fellow student in a training exercise.
Skills and Abilities
Henk is a mage under the tutelage of the Dreadlords, with the ability to use certain magic to his advantage in combat. He has also been trained in the use of blades and other weapons, as well as horseback riding. Henk showed a particular proficiency in hand to hand combat, however, and he prefers this over using weapons if plausible
In terms of magic, Henk is exceptionally skilled at controlling the flow of light through the air, and this has become his specialty through training. Initially, he had no control over this ability, and the light would bend around his hands in tune with his emotions; when angered or frightened, the shifting of the rays would become so potent that he would burn anything he touched, bright flashes surrounding him like flares of the sun itself. Training under the Dreadlords has enabled Henk much more control over his power, though he still prefers to wear coverings over his arms to prevent accidents.

Personality
Henk is somewhat unusual among his constituents for his calm and gentle demeanor. Though trained to fight and kill without thought or mercy, he displays a quiet serenity whenever not in battle, often content to watch the stars when night falls, or to observe others with the curiosity of a child. He speaks very little unless directly addressed, and displays a powerful desire to exceed expectations held for him.
His timid nature outside of battle betrays the ferocity he shows when fighting, performing exactly as expected of him, with lethal efficiency and no hint of remorse or regret for any life he takes. This exceptional performance is not out of a taste for blood and violence, however. Rather, it is Henk's desire to fit in, to be accepted as a Dreadlord and given praise for his actions that spur him forward. As twisted as it is, the people that kidnapped him from the streets as a young child are his family, and despite the distaste others often show for such a sentimentality from a Dreadlord in training, Henk will do anything to make his family happy.
