Kristopher Mortas
Appearance
Skills and Abilities
As with all Vampires, Kristopher is gifted unnaturally with strength and speed, and the ability to heal much faster than his human counterparts. That, on top of superhuman senses, make him a formidable tracker- provided the person isn't in broad daylight, that is.
Kristopher is quick with a blade, but rarely commits himself to sword-fighting. A better duelist has a better chance against Kristopher.
Kristopher is exceptionally stealthy and light on his feet.
Kristopher has excellent vision, even in the dark.
Kristopher is a kleptomaniac to say the least- the thrill of stealing is worth more than the items he steals.
Without feeding regularly- about twice a week or so, or more if he's enduring a lot of physical strain or injuries, Kristopher's appearance will resemble that of a decaying corpse.
Kristopher is susceptible to silver and holy relics- even being near holy relics will cause him to grow ill. If exposed to holy things for a lengthy amount of time, Kristopher will grow restless, and will be weakened, exhibiting flu-like symptoms. Silver, burns him as hot as any fire, even by touch. As such, Kristopher is paranoid about dining, and usually attempts to eat with wooden utensils.
When exposed to sunlight- Kristopher will gradually go from suffering the effects of a sunburn to third degree burns, within the span of five minutes. Any exposure longer than that, and Kristopher will burn to the bone. Without feeding for a long time, this exposure dwindles, and if Kristopher hasn't fed for long enough to take on the corpse-like appearance, he could very well burn instantly.
Personality
Brash, brazen, and rather quick-witted, Kristopher is rather keen on keeping himself at a distance from most people. Literally and figuratively- he feeds when he needs to, but doesn't find it a particularly pleasant experience. That goes to say, that he doesn't infrequently do it- he does feed on people. He has only 'overfed' on one person during his entire 12 decades spent as a Vampire, and is careful about only drawing what he needs, both as a survival mechanism and a testament to his self-hatred.
Kristopher doesn't like being a Vampire, and hates the very nature of himself. But he isn't suicidal. He's desperate for a cure, but gave up on it decades ago, finding it a hopeless endeavor. To that, he sees himself as a Robin Hood like character, prowling the streets of large cities, helping the downtrodden and the poor, while feeding and stealing from the rich and out of touch wealthy. Of course, this morality comes back to bite him sometimes- but he finds it a solace in his dark nature.
Biography & Lore
Kristopher was born to loving merchant parents, who frequented between businesses in Vel Anir and Alliria, trading in the delicate art of tapestries and threads. As a child, Kristopher was a well-traveled, and by adulthood, he was set out to take over the family business and let his parents retire peacefully in the great walled city of Alliria, and provide for them the way that they provided him as a youth.
Unfortunately, destiny had plans of their own- when a band of Raiders attack his ship that his parents were traveling with on one of their last great investments on. Kristopher was knocked ashore, and washed up on the Allir Reach sometime later. For days, he wandered, wounded. Until he was happened upon a yellow-eyed passerby. Thinking him for a quick meal, the Vampire attacked the wounded Kristopher, and left him for dead, after brutally attacking him. As his scars were inflicted before he became a Vampire- the scars serve as a permanent reminder of the Vampire that attacked him.
Kristopher wishes, that he died. Unfortunately, life clung to him like a flea, and he awoke by a burning sensation, and found the only solace to be taking shelter in the darkness of the shade. For days he wandered, transforming slowly into a Vampire. Over time and years that passed, Kristopher was met by other Vampires, though they all did not share the same strain that he did. The other Vampires referred to his particular strain the Falwood Strain, or the Feline Strain- named after the particular way it affected a person's eyes.
The attempts for Kristopher to find a cure or alleviate the symptoms have thus far proven fruitless- and even attempts to feed on animal blood or other means. It seems that the only alleviating factor for his symptoms is human blood, and thus it will remain until the day that Kristopher ends- violently, or peacefully.
Over the years, he learned to control his hunger, mostly out of concern for safety. He can pass as human easily enough- provided of course, the person doesn't comment too closely on his eyes or his paleness, and his particularly sharp teeth.
