She was still, for better or worse, a Vampire". In the Hush

Lilette Blackbriar was a runaway noblewoman who fled from Falwood to escape her family's massacre. With nowhere else to go, she became a nun of the celestialist church and cultivated a reputation for aiding the poor and downtrodden wherever she went. Though innocent in demeanor, she was in fact a vigilante who sustained herself on the blood of outlaws in the night.

Appearance

Though innocent at glance with her supple features and freckled cheeks, folk had always thought of the young Blackbriar as otherworldly. Her skin was pale as snow and her hair, which was typically loose but braided into a bun in the very back, was equally clean and white. Her mercurial eyes were at times soft and at others piercing with the quiet determination of her warrior-mother, who swaddled her in white clothes similar to the ones she now wears with monochromatic grace.

Indeed the only colors one might find on her person were the blue flowers sometimes worn in her hair, or the blue accents of her cleric garb, themselves embroidered with celestial bodies in silver thread befitting of her faith.

She looked more like a doll than the knight she wished to become, but found this demure appearance advantageous in a way.

Personality

Lilette demonstrated hospitality and etiquette in all things, though her archaic dialect could be mistaken for grandiosity. Much like her manners, this way of speaking was her mother's doing, who had learned to speak common a century or two earlier and not bothered to relearn as it developed. Her public demeanor might seem friendly, though it concealed the exhaustion and anxiety beneath.

In private, Lady Blackbriar struggled with a strong sense of justice at odds with her Vampiric nature, living in denial of the nature and impact of killing sprees, so confident in her justification to kill only criminals and "ne'er do wells". Vampirism saved her from a premature and undignifying death after all, why should she be ashamed of her salvation?

Nevertheless, guilt took root.

As a woman of the cloth she sought to atone for her unfortunate diet through medicine, tending to the sick and poor so as to give back more than she took, even if perhaps she averted her eyes from the scales by which her second chance was weighed.

Biography

(Theme)

Lilette was a daughter of House Blackbriar in the northern Falwood, and like many of her siblings, was struck with a mysterious illness after the death of her mother amidst the siege of her home, unknowing victims of a Fae curse which shocked even the Autumn Court. She was rendered averse to magic and her body began to fail in a slow, painful death measured in years.

She spent most days reading in her quarters where she was believed safest, but when the doctors said she had mere days to live, the elf would sneak out to stargaze each night, until one evening she found a stranger lost among her favorite grove.

Approaching in all her innocence, she spoke for hours with the pale figure who wanted to know her story. In the end, they offered to take her pain away, and Lilette naively agreed.

The young woman felt the faintest pinch against her neck, and was lulled into the most peaceful sleep she'd ever know.

When she awoke, Lilette was different. She smelled blood in her clothes, on the floor, everywhere. Her father was dead, the servants massacred, and all she could think to do in that moment was to run as far as she could from whatever horrors had taken place in her home, and never look back.

Figure

A fledgling Lilette
The newly born Vampire fled her home with only her brother's sword and armor stuffed into a backpack, wandering without guidance nor understanding of that night which no amount of theory could comfort. She wandered alone and confused until she came to Vel Anir and was taken in by a celestialist convent who remained ignorant of her undeath.

She grew to care for them and some of the locals, becoming protective even. When the neighbor's child was kidnapped, she took her brother's sword and tracked down the gang responsible. Come nightfall, she killed every single one of them.

When the young Dreadlords Aelita and Zinnia came to question the convent about the killings, Lilette fled to Ragash under the pretence of studying medicine. To her surprise she took to the subject well, and found herself studying the art of healing and vampirism both.

Two years have passed since then and the vampire has become a traveling doctor.

Her search for a smith to repair her brother's sword has led her to it's original makers in Alliria, where she unwittingly steps into the schemes of it's merchant houses.
