Open Chronicles College of Elbion - Applicants Wanted!

A roleplay open for anyone to join
Her fist had connected, the surging pain from her fingertips to her shoulder told her so. It would be lucky if she hadn't fractured something in that silly attack, but she hadn't packed her gear for fighting hand to hand and wasn't about to ask for a break to go fetch it. Rolling, it took her a long moment to stand as the assassin recovered enough to spit in her face.

She would have moved to strike again had Eleanor not stood and proclaimed her choice. Followed shortly after by the nobles guard making short work of everything. Instead of moving to assist, the professor cradled her arm as best she could and watched quietly until the intent became clear.

"No killing please. We have someone that can remove the mark, and I am sure that while you would like revenge for damages done, it would likely be better to find out if there are more assassin's waiting if this one fails, no?"
Phillipa offered to everyone that presented a blade. While her own raging pride demanded recompense, she pushed it aside for reason instead. Would not do to swat one fly only to have another fill it's place.

"Besides that, we wouldn't want your first visit to the college to be known to everyone for killing someone in the streets." She quietly added. Her hand pilfered through the mantle, tossing aside a few ruined feathers before finding one relatively intact.

"We will take her back and then deal with her." She offered as she held onto the feather and waited.

Elise fell in a heap next to Eleanor completely spent for a moment.
"This is..all..laboring..under..the impression I will be going with you..." Elise struggled out.
She was trying to push herself back up. It seemed there was little desire to ever quit and Elise seemed quite happy to keep going until she was dead on her feet, and from the looks of things death was coming very soon. Her healing had stopped even though her head wound was still bleeding and she looked like she was a flick away from deaths door being open and yet still she tried to push herself up
"..and..you..both.." She continued to struggle as she rose to one knee.
"Cheated.."
She said finally as she stood up right before her weakened and already brutally kicked knee gave and left her crumpling back to the ground.
This time she didnt move.

Saben Strahd was surprised to see her go down again, but then he reminded himself that this assassin is an elf and far more frail than he or anyone else who served Bastellen in the Strahd family. He could smell what was left of her blood, which had slowed to a crawl from lack of pressure, her heartbeat had slowed down considerably and was only getting slower as the gauntlets continued to feed off of her and repair themselves, at this rate her gauntlets would kill her before anyone has had the chance to interrogate her.

He knew this to be a failsafe of Bastellen if any of his servants were defeated and captured, the gauntlets would respond to Bastellens command and proceed to kill the wearer.
And removing the gauntlets was equally dangerous... If one did not know the special trick. And knowing Bastellen, he probably never told this servant that there was a way to remove the gauntlets without injury from the internal blades.

Saben knelt down beside the assassin and lifted her right hand to examine the gauntlet, it was like a smaller clone of the gauntlets he used to wear, though he imagined that it would change its size to fit any who hold it.
He proceeded to smoothly rub the surface of the gauntlet like a massage, the blades slowly pulled themselves out of Elise Darkwater's arm and there was a light click as they receded into the gauntlet.
Saben was then able to easily slide the gauntlet off her arm without causing more injury, he repeated the process on the other gauntlet and slid it off, the marks on her arms of previous removals confirming his suspicions earlier.
He wrapped the gauntlets in his still bloodstained white cloak and continued his examination of the assassin, at this rate even without the gauntlets she would die from her injuries.

His orders were to apprehend her, which implied brining her back alive, but she was at deaths door already and had more than a foot through it. He thought seriously about his next move, if she died he failed and they learned nothing, but what could she tell them that would be of use? It seemed like they knew all they needed to know already, Bastellen has influence here as well and wishes to continue hunting House Armon... But what if there was something more? Something worth saving her miserable life over, he would be a fool to let her die because of his own arrogance or pride, and he had his own new beliefs to consider as well, showing mercy to those in need...

He sighed and removed some bandages from his satchel and began binding her wounds as best he could, doing a fairly nice job considering his extensive field training.
He bound her head tightly and got most of the bleeding to stop, but without quick action she would still die from blood loss.
Her heart was beating dangerously slow.

Without waiting for permission from anyone else he lifted the assassin carefully in his arms and began carrying her quickly back to the collage, leaving the human girl and that cursed book to be dealt with by the collage. He didn't need to examine the book, he was already far too familiar with its contents and he never wanted to perverse his mind with its words of filth again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alexis Armon didn't like waiting, but she certainly had more patience than her brothers ever did.
Rhali Ka'Thas had completely recovered from the crossbow bolt and poison and sat beside her silently.
Neither of them held any grudge against the assassin herself, but they were all angry at the god she chose to serve, who in turn chose to use his servant to try to kill them.
She remembered reports given by her brothers about a cult within House Strahd that served some dark god who promised them the power to defeat House Armon, but she had never come face to face with that enemy until now, and now she knew why her brothers considered this entity a threat.
While the assassin may not have been anything special, she was resourceful and skilled with what she had, resourceful enough to infiltrate a collage of magic users which surely had security measures against such attacks.
But for the life of her she couldn't remember the name of that damned god... or god of the damned...

When Saben returned carrying the wounded assassin Alexis and Rhali stood up allowing Saben to place her on the couch.

"Excellent, thank you for not killing her Saben. We don't know enough to allow a lead like this to slip out of our fingers."

Saben nodded, "She is an assassin of Bastellen, the god my family worships and the one I used to serve. But she is just an elf, she couldn't handle the cost of using her gauntlets so much. I'm afraid if we don't do something she will die soon and we will know nothing."

Alexis punched the palm of her other hand, "Of course, Bastellen! now I remember... So this is the same dark god that drove your family to attack House Armon... And now he is here as well. Seems we can never find peace, I thought that if House Armon met any enemies here that they would be new and we would be unknown... But it seems we were not destined to be so blessed."

Saben continued; "M'lady, she is slipping away, her heart has almost stopped. The choice is yours, since only your blood is strong enough to bring her back now. But I've seen what kind of person she is in her eyes... She's sadistic if not insane. Words of reason may not reach her."

Alexis nodded and her face turned serious.
It was dangerous to save an enemy like this, because when they awaken they are stronger than before and better than they were, but even in that light she wasn't worried about what the assassin might do, even as one of them she would be too young and inexperienced to know how to use her new abilities and be effective if she chose to attack them. What she was worried about is what if she gave the assassin her blood, and it turned out she didn't know anything, or didn't chose to help them.
Her blood was valuable and powerful and she couldn't just give it to anybody.
If the girl was truly insane, as in she literally had something wrong with her mind, a condition that was treatable, then her blood would cure that as well, but an attitude or personality is something totally different.

Elise seemed to stir. Her spirit. Her very being clinging to her hate and anger forcing her broken body to wake as her eyes fluttered open. She was in the arms of one of the guards
"What are you.." She looked around at the people surrounding her and her eyes locked on Alexis "Where are my things I need them my.." She seemed distraught with out her gauntlets, "I cant hear him....What are you doing to me!" She tried to thrash but the noble guard seemed to have a grip of iron.
"What do you want!" She yelled with half an angry sob choking her words as she searched for her only link to her master with her book gone.
"Let me go!" she again weakly tried to kick at the guard but it was to no avail as she writhed and seemed almost foaming at the mouth with rage at being caught and held but she was far to weak to be a threat anymore as even her failings seemed to have taken a lot out of her as she stopped to catch her breath with a raspy wheeze noting the large amount of internal trauma Phillipa really had done to her.

Saben was careful to not allow her to thrash herself against a wall or in a way to damage herself or reopen her wounds. He placed her on the couch and held her down as she struggled.
He leaned in close to her ear, his voice was deadly and cold as he whispered to her, "Be still, sister... And enjoy this sweet silence for once... Bastellen cannot hurt you now if he wanted to, but you will die if we don't save you from what he has done to you."

The other guard continued his vigil, making sure no one was coming and passersby were turned away.
Rhali helped Saben hold down the assassin if she continued to struggle, showing herself almost as strong as he is.

Alexis knelt beside the couch and looked into the wild eyes of the assassin, but her own eyes were filled with compassion for the suffering elf girl, "We don't have much time, you've lost too much blood. What is your name?"

Saben drew back, his tactic failing. He still held her protectively against herself.

Elise... A beautiful name, Just knowing that much made the assassin seem less of a monster and more of a person to Alexis.
Her face softened even more, this assassin was somebody before she met Bastellen... And that person was about to die because the price for power Bastellen extracted from his servants was a price she couldn't pay, and Bastellen knew it.

"Elise... You are dying... Bastellen does not value your life anymore, he doesn't love you enough to save you from the damage he himself has done... One way or another we will save you, but I want you to want to live... Will you let me save you?"

As Elise calmed down Alexis tentatively reached out and wiped away some froth mixed with blood that had escaped the girls mouth in her thrashing. So much blood had been spilled today, her own, her handmaid, Elise, and the boy who died outside... She could sense all of them. The elf looked young like this, almost like a child on her sickbed, but this was coming from someone over a hundred years older than her.

She seemed calm for a moment as she was touched her eyes seemed to soften a friendly touch was so foreign to her but then Alexis finger brushed her jaw scar as she wiped the foam, and the women snapped back violently.
"I will make you rue the day you saved me! " She snapped at her fingers, The teeth flashing from the scar on her jaw that left her jaw bare and open as she tried to bite her finger. Her touch was soft and gentle, but she didnt like face touching. It reminded her of her scars. How broken she was how damaged she was..

Elise reacted violently when Alexis touched the scar that had left the elf girls cheek open, her teeth exposed to the elements. Alexis Armon could have easily avoided getting bitten, in fact Elise probably expected her to draw back when she snapped at her fingers.

Elise Darkwater felt her teeth come down on muscle blood and bone, as easily is if she were biting through a carrot.
Alexis did not flinch even though the pain was there, she had felt far worse before.
Two of her fingers were now bleeding stumps, her eyes grew sad. Saben Strahd and Rhali Ka'Thas stiffened in anger, tightening their holds reflexively.
Alexis knew that this girl was running out of time, but she didn't want her to suffer like this for the rest of her life, with scars that run so deep ruining her life. But now with a tiny bit of her blood in her she might have slightly more time, but not much.
She wanted desperately for this girl to see the world clearly for the first time, and make decisions rationally with no outside influence or whispering voices for probably the first time in a long time... And she was not willing to give up on her just yet.

As the girl watched, Alexis held up her bloody hand for her to see. Before her very eyes the blood seemed the climb back into the wound, and then build up, shaping new fingers in the place of the ones she lost, starting off as dark bloody finger shapes, to reforming bone, muscles, and pale white skin. All of this in a matter of seconds. The result: the fingers reformed exactly the way they were before, minus the nail polish.
Then, more gently this time, she put her hand on the side of the girls face, touching just above the scar, her eyes locked with Elise's and not letting them go.

"Elise... I intend to remake you... But you must want to be remade, a chance to start over and pursue the opportunities that you thought had passed you by forever."

She indicated the girls scar meaningfully, "You thought this scar made you ugly... But that's not true... You know the truth, you felt ugly because of everything you did and this scar is that reminder of what you had to do."

She moves a strand of the girls hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear, "Inside you have a beautiful soul that has been trapped by your past and treated like property... But if you can forgive yourself of your past, then I can show you who you really are inside."

Elise seemed taken aback for a moment. Her eyes darkened to a deep red as she spat the fingers out. The blood from the fingers foaming on her lips. She had swallowed some...her mind fogged over. "This one is mine by choice and by bargain." She said in a voice no longer her own. It seemed to chill the room as she spoke "You will.." Suddenly she looked to the door, and with that the darkness left Elise's eyes and she passed out yet again.

"The reward is not worth your price." Saben Strahd muttered angrily after the fleeing entity. Both he and Rhali released her when she passed out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was it, their time was up.
Either she did it now or the girl dies.
Alexis Armon pulled down the sleeve of her white tunic, exposing the pale skin of her own wrist.
She opened her mouth and her fangs extended a full inch before she slid them into her own wrist, opening her veins.
Then she placed the wound against the girls lips and allowed her blood to seep between her lips, into her mouth and down her throat.
It took some concentration, but she was able to keep her wound from healing before she was done, the blood was fed into her system and immediately began the process, however the process would still take some time.
She gave the girl almost a full cup of her blood before she determined it to be enough and pulled away from her, allowing the wound to heal and licking up the residual blood.

Now they wait, the process will be taxing for Elise Darkwater and she will be thirsty when she awakens next, so they had to be ready for her.
The chances of her becoming a totally new person after this transformation was slim, but Alexis hoped that she would be in a better state of mind for reevaluating herself and hopefully making different choices.
She had turned many people into K'i'ik'el in the past, but she still wasn't used to the concept herself of explaining to the person that they are now dead, yet not dead.
The best explanation she had heard came from her older brother, Lionel Armon. "We are now dead to the world, but alive to what's important in life."
She just hoped she could explain it so easily to someone who had just recently tried to kill her.

Devon and Theria had cleared out, and in their place a few masked people stalked the halls. Whether male or female, through the mask it was a detail that was impossible to discern. Long cloaks covered the rest of their body, the masks lacking any detail and having no visible spots for eyes to peer through. Blank white slates covered their features and their arms where covered in padded clothing.

"You need to move into a secured room until Lady Ebonheart returns. The assassin is to be put in the custody of the college for questioning. If you wish for her to be released to you, you can petition Lady Ebonheart." One such figure informed them solemnly. The faceless figures gaze seemed to travel across them all as the mask scanned over them.

Without any further word, a shield snapped into place around Elise Darkwater and lifted her from the spot she was in. Another figure stepped through a doorway and into the hall as the other floated the assassin away.

"Please vacate the hall and move into a secured room until the college has been released from lockdown. All unsupervised person's on the premise will be considered a threat to the college and it's students and removed forcibly if compliance is not given." The figure would usher them along to a new and separate meeting room before locking them in with it and two other similar figures. All ignored protests and questions, the words seeming to fall on deaf ears.

Phillipa did not stop the guard from removing Elise, and made no motion to argue with him about taking her. She knew well enough the gargoyles of the college would handle them. Faceless entities that research and development had a hand in making similar to a tool that they had deployed some time ago. Emotionless and lacking what most would call civility, they guarded the college zealously and without falter. Each of them having submitted to being treated to horrendous experiments and treatments that killed some and left others, numb as Phillipa kindly put it.

"Leave the book, but if anyone wants to take her back, feel free. Assistance should be along shortly otherwise to clean this mess up." Phillipa informed the rest of those that remained. She was still cradling her arm and was content to wait as she leaned against a wall.

The guard in the hallway could not stop the guards from forcing their way past him without violence, but luckily there wasn't anything special to see at that point.
They allowed the guards to take Elise and at a nod from Alexis they allowed themselves to be escorted to a meeting room.
Saben and the other guard tensed when they heard the door lock behind them, but they took up positions around the room to have eyes on all corners.
Alexis and Rhali sat down at the table and awaited for someone to come for them.

Soon after the assassin’s consciousness faded, Kara tossed the previously activated rune stone to the side. Another Earthen Wall materialized - awkwardly almost blocking the entry to an alleyway. Kara glanced back at Terrance’s body. She stared at him for a few seconds. Then, she looked toward Eleanor Griffin.

After Phillipa Ebonheart spoke to those that remained, Kara said, “This one can take Lady Griffin to the infirmary.

After Elise was taken away, Quoril started walking to the nearest alleyway to make his way back into the college. As he neared the alley something flew past him, and landed on the ground in front of him. He jumped back as a earthen wall erupted from the ground, blocking his path. The elf heard the voice of Kara Orin behind him saying “This one can take Lady Griffin to the infirmary.” Turning quickly Quoril walked back over to where she was standing. “I’ll go with you,” he volunteered.

Elise came to. She was in a strait jacket with thick chains linked to an iron binding around her waist. She sat in front of an old, thick, wooden table that was covered in what she was sure was dry blood stains and even a tooth buried in the wood along with indents around it.
She felt a shiver of pleasure at the thought of the kind of pain something like that caused, but it was quickly replaced as she came further around her mind became set on one thing. She was so thirsty...It was all she could think about, breathing, eating, sleep, all meaningless if she didnt drink...
She felt her teeth extend as she saw a rat was perched on the table in front of her looking at the elf before him with a curiosity that sealed his demise. In a motion that was almost a blur Elise lunged as far a the restraints allowed and the rat vanished not even being able to squeak before she was slurping his tail like a noodle.
Elise suddenly wretch with a gag as the rat seemed to dissolve into ash in her mouth leaving only its blood witch she swallowed gratefully. She didnt feel much better but thirst was placed aside for now it seemed.
."What did they do to me.."
Elise muttered with an evil playful glint began to flicker behind her eyes like a damaged lamp spluttering back to life. A weak smirk began to play across her now perfect face. She looked up to see a masked figure standing in the room slightly to the side.

"Hi there. Id be lying if I didnt say I was a bit confused. Thought Id be dead by now, Just the tattoo on my right arm alone would get me killed before I even passed the guards. At least they kill on sight...dont have to be strung up like this...I know it may be shocking, but Im not a big fan of being well held against my will." She chuckled to be met with silence from her newfound prison friend.
"What..not a talker huh.." Her laughing continued becoming more frayed and manic.
"Im..heh..Im sorry..I..I.. Just can't read you. Your so plain faced its like your wearing... a mask!" She struggled out between smaller giggles before rolling a burst of laughter that sounded so twisted it could leave a chill crawling up anyones spine. It died down as she caught her breath. "So...How long until her majesty Mrs. Phillipa Ebonheart shows up with her goons for all the creepy science stuff?" She asked. "Dont think I dont know where things like you came from. I hear the whispers.." Another frayed cackling session followed as once again she caught her breath.
"...heh..ahhh...Who knows maybe they'll experiment on me and make me a new kind of you...huh..If I was the new kind..That'd make me your boss eh love?..." She mused with another chuckle. These ramblings continued as she passed the time. She knew it wouldnt respond but she did know it could hear.
She kept on talking until the masked person looked to the door and shifted slightly.
"Ooo fun time.." Elise said excitedly. As the thick door's handle began to turn.

Eleanor's head was pounding and her whole body hurt. Her eyes fluttered open and she struggled to sit up still clutching the book. Elise was gone and Kara and Quoril stood over her. She wasn't sure whether to be afraid or relived. Then her eyes fell on Terrence's corps. Her eyes went wide and she doubled over coughing violently. Blood came off on her sleeve, she stared at it in disbelief before wiping some blood from her nose with the back of her hand. Trembling she didn't feel like she had the energy to stand. "Sorry," She muttered bearly intelligible as she began coughing again.

Eleanor woke on her own, and Phillipa managed a small smile. Conditions couldn't be better now that the woman could move of her own volition. She wouldn't have to direct the gargoyles that came to clean up this mess.

"Assist her if she needs it. I'll leave you all to find your way back." Phillipa informed them before heading back to the college ahead of them. She cradled her arm and took the long way around given the emergence of wells in the way. One of the faceless guards greeted her, walking her to the front desk where she informed the receptionist that the lockdown could be lifted. She was informed that the assassin had been taken to a room in the lower basement and that the noble woman had been taken to another meeting room while the lockdown was in effect.

She mulled on the information a moment before heading to the basement first. The guard that had followed her inside departing with instructions as the rest of the gargoyles dispersed without a single word being spoken amongst them. No alarms were sounded to inform the rest of the college, but the departure of the faceless sentinels allowed all those in their company a sigh of relief. The gargoyles with Alexis Armon twitched and focused on the noble woman and her guards.

"Lady Ebonheart will be with you shortly after she speaks with the assassin. She has been placed in a secure place that is heavily warded and guarded. Attempts to penetrate these safeguards will be considered a threat against the college and dealt with swiftly. Please remain here or move to the library to await her request for your presence. The library and anything in the public section is at your disposal for your leisure in the meantime, as per Lady Ebonheart." The neutral voice informed them before the guards with them dispersed with little else to say.

Phillipa walked gingerly through the lower halls, the eyes of her associates harshly upon her as she turned the handle with her left hand. It took a brief second for the spells and wards around the room to recognize the touch of her hand, the handle turning heavily. Entering the room, she glanced to the gargoyle and waved them out.

"Please wait outside. Your presence is not necessary for this." She informed the being. It turned without acknowledging the command, and once it had left, the door closed. The woman gave a heavy sigh as she eyed the girl that was tethered there.

"A chance to speak without prying eyes and violence is welcome. As you already well know who I am, I would ask for your name darling. I must admit, it has been some time since someone has had the gall to attack anyone inside the college and while I cannot publicly say anything, I must say I admire the tenacity you have shown in all regards to this...attack." The professor quietly informed her. The initial disapproval in her voice gave way to a strange blend of satisfaction and admiration.

"That being said, I would like to extend an offer. Something I hope will be mutually beneficial."
Phillipa smiled a little as she tilted her head a little to watch the other woman. She had a goal in mind, something that would benefit her own department without their knowing it.

Alexis nodded and stood up, "We will wait in the library if it's all the same to you, altered ones."
As a K'i'ik'el she admired the collages use of altered humans as emotionless guards, but deep inside she felt that such a violation of mortal rights was a horrible practice no matter how efficient they could be.
She could smell them, they had blood, they were living creatures, but altered as to have no emotion, no freewill, nothing to slow them or cloud their judgement, but nothing to identify them as human or mortal any longer.
Truly this Phillipa Ebonheart and herself could have been sisters in another life.

They followed the Gargoyles as they escorted them to the library.
Alexis was duly impressed with the massive collection of books, and since this is a collage of magical lore there is no doubt a wealth of books on magic.
Saben and the other guard positioned themselves about the room where they could watch the ladies and keep track of any comings and goings while Alexis and Rhali began gathering several books into a pile, once they had found a good collection of books they brought the pile to one of the tables and began perusing the volumes.
If anything was to be learned at all, it would be wise to begin early.

"Awww..hurt your arm did yah love thats too bad.."
Elise said grinning with a cute giggle at Phillipa's shoulder wound from the whip.
"And you got a little something on your face like someone spat in your eye.." She giggled further.
"And as for my name? Go to hell. I said Id telll you nothing and I meant it. My master already holds my leash, so take your offer to someone whos buying you snobby whore."
Elise spat venomously as she lunged at Phillipa with all of her being, gnashing her teeth viciously. The chains tethering her began to groan as she strained against them before some runes began to glow on them and she was yanked back and held even tighter by the jacket. Still she tried to get at Phillipa Ebonheart even as the chains and jacket continued to tighten as she struggled. She was a rabid dog, An unrelenting force of destruction and chaos.
A very large asset to those that could control her, but so un predictable. However even a rabid dog could be taught to heel. Even if it took a little blood and bruises.
If Phillipa wanted a submissive Elise she was going to have to earn her respect and speak her language and it seemed pain and fear were all she seemed to understand, let alone respect, And in Elise's eyes she had attacked, threatened and even spat in this woman's face and gotten away with it. What did she have to fear?

Phillipa sighed as the woman lunged, and was then promptly yanked backwards. The words meant nothing, since it was obvious the woman dealt in pain rather than speech. A small smile appeared on the professor as the woman continued to press her attack.

"Alright, let's see if we can't get that name." Phillipa spoke quietly, the heel of her boot hitting the door as it slowly opened enough to speak through the crack. "Fetch Nine Eighty Three please." The door closed and Phillipa watched her still until the door opened a minute later, a figure much like the other gargoyle stepping into the room. A Jester's mask on it's face however marked it out from the rest.

"She refuses to be polite, please entertain her until she decides to do so." Phillipa informed the figure as she looked back to Elise. "Darling, this one is going to keep you company while I attend to business elsewhere. Nine Eighty Three is our best playmate down here in the basement. So do play nice."

The woman wasted no time in leaving the room, the runes on the chains glowing before constricting the woman enough to leave her breathless as the silent figure grabbed her. It said nothing as it placed a leather muzzle over her face and drug her to the table. A drawer opened along the wall, and it grabbed something as it threw her to the tabletop. When she tried to round on it, something stabbed her in the side and piercing clear through and down through the table as well. A rune glowed, the wound sealing around it enough to not let her bleed as it seemed to meld with the table.

A long game of this began, spikes and hooks piercing her skin and healing the hole just enough to not allow her to bleed, but the nerves still screamed of pain. Each one held her tighter to the table as another game began. Needles appeared, and were slowly pressed into her, the room silent save for her screams. The figure never spoke, never laughed, nothing. And the mask forever taunted her with that half smile.

Phillipa still held her arm as she left, one of the doors to the basement well hidden in her office as she decided to go to the noble woman rather than call her in. She had an entourage, and that would make the office uncomfortably cramped. After correcting a few papers that had fallen to the floor in her hasty walk to the basement, and wiping her face in the basin, she left and entered the library. It only took a moment to find the group, the guards easily spotted since they formed a perimeter around their charge.

Phillipa gave them a small wave as she walked near, hoping they were in a better mood now that the assassin was in custody.

"Sorry for the wait, I wanted our guest to be as comfortable as possible before I came to speak to you." Phillipa informed them.

Alexis nodded with a polite smile, she set the book down with a bookmark in it and Rhali followed suit.
Finally a chance to talk to an authoritative figure at this collage.

"It's no trouble at all, we enjoyed the opportunity to sit down and read, it's been a long denied luxury with our travels."

She shared a glance with Rhali before continuing, "I would like to talk to you about your guest later, but for now I would really like to get to the business at hand and the reason I came to Elbion in the first place."

She sat with her back strait in her chair and her hands folded neatly in her lap, everything about her spoke of nobility in spite of her bloodstained clothes.

"We heard about the applications to the collage all the way from port in Belgrath. It is my sincerest wish to apply and enroll here to relearn the ways of magic. If you would have me I can pay for tuition and my own room and board."

"Travel does tend to relieve one of the ability to enjoy the simple things." Phillipa said with an equally polite smile.

"In due time." Phillipa assured the other woman, arm still cradled a bit as she leaned slightly against one of the tables. When the woman's intent became known, the professors brow knit together, a small bit of confusion on her face.

"Re-learn the ways of magic? I do apologize if I seem rather forward with this question, but, is something hindering you from performing magic? Given recent events, and your...friends, knowledge of that assassin's business, I feel a certain responsibility to ask." Phillipa asked as politely as she could.

"Oh, please forgive me, we've not been officially introduced. Please forgive my oversight of etiquette."

She placed a hand over her heart, "I Am Alexis Armon, Lady of House Armon. And this is my Handmaiden Rhali Ka'Thas and my guards, Saben Strahd and Marcus Espada."

She nodded to Phillipa's arm, "Yes, there was a time and place when either I or my handmaiden would be in a position to heal your wounds. But now this is no longer the case."

She thought back to the wounds that Elise took on during the fight which were subsequently healed after her transformation, but she put the thought aside.

"I have no reason to hide it, I am a foreigner to Arethil, the laws of magic that I am used to are much different than the laws that govern this land. In my home I was one of a few of the most powerful magic users in the realm, but now I'm like I was when I was a child just learning how to connect to the rivers that define magic."

She lowered her gaze to a spot of the table and focused on it, "In fact, my inability to use magic almost allowed the assassin to escape after she kidnapped one of the other applicants. I reacted on instinct as magic has always been a part of my life, but the spell I used was suddenly too powerful for me to cast and detonated in failure."

Her fists clenched in her lap, she had never felt more useless, not even when her brothers teased her about not being able to use a sword proficiently or draw a bow and hit a target from a league off.
The one... the ONE thing she was good at... and it was taken away from her.
She looked back up at Phillipa before she could allow herself to cry at such a silly time.
