Completed Lethality

Blessed was she to have him. Blessed was she to have Alistair. With the many Initiates and Dreadlords who were of Bull's ilk, possessed of cruelty and malice, those who were not were made that much more precious by their rarity.

Kristen smiled, allowing for that firmness to fade and for herself to relax, and in this regard Alistair's touch worked wonders.

"I believe in us," she said, barely above a whisper. "We can be Dreadlords whom posterity will hold with pride."

She parted from him...save only for her porcelain hand, which lingered in Alistair's grasp.

"Shall we go and make right this terrible mess in Vel Acan?"

Oh, what a beautiful smile that would only be shattered on the rocks of Alistair's sin if she ever knew the truth...and she would never have to.

The smile on his face never cracked as he just continued to hold her until she finally pulled away.

This had all felt amazing, but also incredibly frightening....And, there it was. The chance he was looking for. The opportunity to get lost back in their duty and to focus on work. There was no cowardly Alistair here, only a Dreadlord.

"Yes, let's get moving. We need to gather as much of the funds to return to Markle."

Without saying anything more, he turned to begin there work.

The slaying was over, and the work of healing begun. Vel Luin and Vel Acan both had suffered wounds from the treachery inflicted by Bull and his cohorts. To Kristen, it was the grace of Aionus and the swift action of herself and Alistair which kept it from being any worse. Gods be praised.

So with swords sheathed, promises made and secrets kept, and Kristen and Alistair set out to undo the damage done.

Of the future for the Republic and its struggle against the Rogues, of Vel Luin and Vel Acan, and even of Kristen and Alistair themselves, who could say?

But for now, what was left to them was victory, and the rejoicing thereof.
