Through the ordeals of the return to Malakath and the subsequent shipwreck, Ermengarde was finally able to return to her colony established roughly one year ago in a prior expedition to this once undiscovered continent.
Cittanovà it is called, and since its conception as a few tents, has now grown into a substantial settlement. (Although it would still look impoverished compared to your typical Allirian countryside village)
The houses were out of local, opalescent wood, and or out of red soil bricks mixed in with grass.
Some buildings, usually the administrative ones were more opulent, and in just one such building, officially termed the 'bureau of commerce managment' was Ermengarde.
-
Sitting behind a desk with her boots on it, she was looking over some ledgers detailing exports.
The prestigious 'opiline timber' was a profitable export, but...
After a few people have disappeared, it was no longer safe to send out people to cut the timber. She herself dared to explore the now-abandoned lumbermills, and what she found was deeply concerning.
A clawed footprint as big as her torso.
Sending a message back to Alliria, Ermengarde hoped some unruly band of monster hunters or a big game beast-slayer would sign up for the task.
One ship was scheduled to arrive soon, and whoever signed up, was directed to the Bureau.
The promised payment was a choice between 200 coins or loot from the slain mystery beast.
Whatever that was, it had to be exterminated.
