Lord Dev'ee Oss stared at the sky from his conference table. The skies still held their dark grey colour, it had been overcast like this for nearly three weeks. He had hoped that after last nights downpour the skies might have finally cleared, if only so he could walk through the gardens with his daughter as she smiled in the sunlight. At the very least the rain would be good for the flowers she cherished so much. It had been so kind and thoughtful of Nevar to suggest that some be brought to her chambers so she could enjoy them still. She needed a suitor as she was nearing her second decade soon, and though Nevar was not of nobility they themselves were of such a minor house it would hardly matter, besides he was such a thoughtful fellow.

"Lord Oss... Lord Oss you alright?"

"Hmm... Oh sorry, as I was saying: at this point we can no longer simply assume the misfortune we have been experiencing is but random chance. Someone is targeting our wellbeing, that much is clear. To burn down not one, but two grain sheds, and I suspect that the local apothecary being murdered was not just a coincidence. We will post three guards per food shed as we can not afford to lose another, and one guard for Nevar as well as any other apothecaries we find. Now I believe I have also heard from Matron Ploot that some orphans have been going disa-"

The lord was suddenly cut of as the doors to the room suddenly shot open. Standing in the doorway was the lord's daughter, but her normally cheery demeanour was replaced by one of sickness. Her lips had turned blue, her skin was ghastly pale, and her veins seemed to pop with a sickly green colour. She weakly called out for her father before collapsing to the floor.

Almost 2 weeks later:
"Please Nevar, there has to be something you can do! Can your magic really do nothing? Do you want Gracie to die?"

"We have gone over this, without knowing what kind of poison it was I could not do anything without risking making it worse, all I could do was keep her alive, and as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately now that I know what it is I might need at least one thousand gold to secure the missing ingredient to cure the poison."

"Please Daddy, you know Nevar would never let me suffer if he knew how to help me, just like you wouldn't."

"Your right, Princess, I am just so worried about you. It is just... the messenger returned two days ago saying he had posted the job to every guild, knights order, or tavern he could find. So where is everyone? Did I not make it clear that I was willing to give absolutely anything to the hero that could save us?"

Brow raised, Ynsidia wondered what possessed her to come.

She was no herbalist, no shaman, nor druid, or physician, but a Conjurer of Ink Tricks. Still, she had some info, old info, but info none the less that could save the life of the young lady in question. Nebulous Sidhe knowledge she'd overheard years ago, but if a Sidhe in Arethil knew of something and discussed it in any length, there was usually some substance to it.

The house wasn't imposing; Ynsidia had the experience of the towers looming over her in Vel Anir. Most everything was pleasant to the eyes in comparison. This was a gentle estate belonging to a gentleman. Walking up to the door, she used the knocker to drum a loud report of her presence.

It was up to the staff to receive and admit her, or turn her away, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, and she just happened to be in the neighborhood after a harrowing misadventure with a certain Thomas Whistler. The young man had the resolve to be an escort without training, and more than proved his mettle under the sustained aggression of a doomsday cult.

And lived to boot!

A warm smile surfaced on her face.

As rough as the year had been, Ynsidia was becoming aware that there was more than the intrigues and incentives of Vel Anir. There was noble that was truly noble because it was the good nature in people, not the wealth in their coffers. The truly noble had been the wandering warriors, and young bakers from Alliria moonlighting as mercenaries, of late.

Her thoughts then went to Mischa Ven'rohk.

Sometimes the tormented showed the steady quality too in spite of their many pains...

The door opened, and a guard was there instead of a maid, or butler. Ynsidia introduced herself regardless.

"I am Ynsid-Elveszett, my name's Elveszett, and I have information for Lord Oss that can help him in a delicate matter he is currently stuck on."

i walk up the long path that leads to the estate, in one hand a paper detailing the need for aid in the other a bottle of whisky. i take a drink as i walk not really paying much mind to my path. my satchel feels heavy i decided to pack my medical potions just in case there needed last time i forgot about them someone lost an eye. never know what u might need.

the house was small for my taste any commoner would would see it as a mansion but as far as im concerned this was a hovel. ive lived in castles most of my life. homes the size of the city's that they protected but that was a life time ago.

i almost reach the door when i spot an angry looking girl behind me i take a drink standing on the porch waiting for angry lass to catch up to me.

"turn that frown upside down!" i yell to her. while making a frowny face then a huge teethy grin. pointing at my face demonstrating how to smile.

i turn around as if yelling that to some random girl was normal. i grab the knock handle on the door and it makes a loud echo sound as i bang it rapidly. i stop and listen to the echo.

this place might make me a little money in the end i smile to myself the thought of finishing a job then robbing the job giver blind is why i take jobs in the first place. although i really hope no one here recognizes me the wanted posters in the next town over may have floated over here.

A young boy laughed happily as he ran up the path to the small estate, occasionally tromping through the grass. His ragged skirt rustling and his bell jingling as he flew up the path, a poor boy without a care in the world. Yet whilst his innocence was heartwarming, it definitely stood out in the bleak atmosphere.

A robed woman followed the boy, her black robes and red hair more at home with the bleak atmosphere. She kept a watchful eye on the boy as well, occasionally twitching in annoyance has she continued up the path. She hated her job, looking after this buffoon of a kid. Why couldn't she been assigned to someone else? Why was this kid an asset in the first place? She continued to brood in her thoughts whilst the kid prodded the lady up ahead.

Upon reaching the front door, the robed woman took notice of the kid's behavior. "For goodness sake Jericho! Cut it out!" The woman snapped, grabbing the kid by the hair and pulling him towards her. "I'm sorry for my nephew's behavior, my sister spoils him way too much." The woman explained to Ynsidia, nervously laughing.

Letting go of Jericho, he began to flail around for a bit, seemingly pouting like a typical child. After a few minutes of pouting, Jericho calmed down slightly, walking over to Ynsidia and sitting next to her. "You're no fun Victoria!" He complained, his bell jingling slightly as he frowned. He might look and behave like a normal brat, yet the other's would feel like there's something inherently wrong about the boy, if they paid close attention.

"I presume we're all here because Lord Oss's daughter is sick? Right?" Victoria asked, examining the guard and the other people around her.

A cloaked figure presses through the brushes of the forest on a long journey, this might have been her first journey she would be taking on her own. Her special gift clinging to her neck as she strokes the pendent tied to her collar. Her horns protruded from. Her hood as she was always mindful of every step she took. With each step being a hushed tap that was barely audible. With the length of her cloak and with how even her posture was she could easily be mistaken for a phantom. She wasn't off from her destination, but she could hear a few voices conversing and bickering a bit as the estate came into view.

Her master had been interested in this case the moment it popped up and had tasked to Eclair to learn what she could of medicines within the given time. While she was not well versed as a doctor might be, with the info she's been reading she could be of aid as an assistant. Although from what memory serves it seemed as though the task at had was calling for those of a adventuring nature. This aspect of it intrigued the master within Cerak At'thul.

Approaching the group that was evidently forming. She speaks up from behind the woman and young man keeping sure to hide her face and Collar as best as she could for the moment. Clearing her throat as to gain everyone's attention "I am to suppose that we are the party tasked to procure a cure of some sort? Or have I mistaken this motley crew of individuals for the client's entertainment?" She said with a bit of a whimsical tone. "Maybe it would be best to gather and wait for the client, unless it would behoove someone to point in the proper direction of our task."

Brian, the guard let out a call as the first guest arrived, as more and more showed up, however, the poor lad grew more and more overwhelmed. He was going to open the door when there was suddenly some yelling about smiling, and Brian's hand hesitated a moment before opening the door. How were they able to see him? Why couldn't they let a man frown in private, after all having to face people can be very stressful. He steeled his expression he must not show his unease less they see it as weakness, and take advantage of it. He opened the door, and eyed the two who stood before him. He was about to reply to the woman, inviting her in and thanking her for her help when his eyes shot up to the sound of bells ringing. He gave a shrug at the pair before him as he watched the child and guardian approach, might as well just say what needs to be said once. Before he could give the introduction this time though the guardian began to discipline the child. Brian became very interested in the stone work of the door on the opposite side of where the woman and child stood, while holding his hand up to block the sun, and if his hand happened to block the woman and child it was just a happy coincidence. When he lowered his hand, and turned to face the group again to answer he second woman's question, he gave a small jump. Not at the group, but because a few feet behind there was yet another person. While he waited for the last to join up as well he found himself wondering if the gods were punishing him for something. Why did all these people have to show up within moments of each other, on his shift. What were the chances? When the Komodo finally arrived he looked over the group and both ways to make sure there were no more people to interrupt him. Satisfied he began what would hopefully be his final introduction,

"Ok, Welcome to..."
Suddenly behind him a little old woman dressed as a maid appeared, and began clucking and fussing over the guests.

"Oh look at all these kind people who have come to help our kind Master Oss. Brian why have you not let them in yet! You really need to stop wasting so much time worrying, and stand up straight young man. What is with that loud sigh? Where do you think you are going?Brian?... Well I am so sorry for Brian's rude behaviour please come inside, I will take you straight to Oss. The poor man has simply not left poor Grace, that's his daughter, anyway he has not left Grace's bed since she first fell ill. He has nearly bitten off Nevar, Nevar is the physician who has been looking after Grace all this time, such a kind, and respectable young lad, at least I think so, Becky by the way. So Lord Oss has nearly bitten off the poor lads head because he couldn't cure her, even though he totally would do whatever it took to cure her, because those two totally have the hots for each other. I bet if Lady Grace hadn't fallen ill Nevar tots would have gotten the Lords approval to marry her. Now I know what you are probably thinking who would have wanted to kill sweet Lady Grace? Well get this, who ever poisoned her was going for Lord Oss. They had poisoned his sweet roll, but Grace ate it instead. Which makes, like a lot more sense because Grace is an angel, and from what we know who ever has been troubling our immediate township has been trying to cause unrest. All the signs totally point to it, even I can see that, so yeah, think about it they were trying to destabilize it by killing the Lord. So you can see why it is so that you are here to help. I don't Know what... Oh we are here, one sec." Becky quickly knocks on a door guarded by two guards before entering, "Lord Oss the help you requested has finally arrived."

Things had moved quickly...

Before Ynsidia knew it, she was a in the midst of a crowd of people, and it looked like they all would be ushered in shortly. Ynsidia took note of the Komodo, mind going to Calla, and even further back, to Konda. The past could never be passed, apparently. Akasha's presence would be a welcome one regardless.

Victoria, and Jericho seemed to be both lively, and very at home with each other. A well lived in relationship there...relatives, perhaps? The prodding of the child didn't bother her as much as remind her of her own relationship with The Conjurer; how many times had she annoyed her old master with prodding? She almost laughed at the thought. The scolding from the woman was also rather amusing.

Yes. Much lived in.

"We're all here for the same thing, see..." Ynsidia said presently. "That should make our overall chances of success much higher."

i eye the youngling that has be fallen ill. the group of people seemed rather large for just one girl i wonder of this "lord" has the money to pay all of us.

i turn to him.

"your lordship i mean not to be rude however i wish to inquire about your daughter"

i take a swig from my bottle and put it into my coat pocket. i pull from my bag a vile.

"i ask that this vile be filled with your daughters blood. ive got a knack for potions and if i could examine that witch gives her life perhaps i could find a remedy, after all a second opinion never hurts. "

i smiled hoping to get a fruitful answer. i wasn't really looking to cure her as i assumed a lord of his wealth would have no doubt already exhausted every other resource and most likely consulted better potion brewers than i. however the blood could be used to reconstruct a similar potion to the magic that curses the girl and could turn me an even better profit than this job would award me, many people have grudges and though im no assassin my some of my customers would pay top dollar for such a potion
