Fable - Ask Monsters In A Cage

A roleplay which may be open to join but you must ask the creator first
Felice nodded along with Mattias' threats and Harlowe's ultimatum. "We held up our end," a stare that could stop a man's heart accompanied her statement.

There wasn't anything left for them at this carnival. Especially after her compatriots had placed an outright ban on gambling. Now the only thing for them to do was leave this place, return to the Regiment, and tell the story of how they all bravely stood up to a Rhaksa and robbed the 'unrobbable' First Trev.

Of course, in her version, Felice would've been the mastermind of the robbery. And the first of the three monsters to tell the Rhaksa to pound sand. But she never could've done any of it without her trusty sidekicks.

"Well, we're just going to be leaving now," Felice began backing away from the tiger-demon-thing slowly. One foot at a time.

Matias' fingers curled into fists as he stared at the demon, his expression nothing less than solid rage.

In his own mind he was nearly daring the creature opposite them to try his luck. To try to speak out, to try and change the bargain once again. At this point the Frost Giant was itching for a fight, any excuse to break the dam holding back his anger.

"Ah." The demon said with a click of it's tongue. "Fair enough. I will take my gold, and you can walk away."

A few of the coins scattered on the ground began to grow legs, hopping up off the ground and beginning to scramble towards the Rhaksha. The demon stared, ignoring the coins as they began to puddle together behind him.

Then, as if from nothing, his face appeared just inches behind Felice. "Unless..."

He whispered. "Double or nothing?"

The demon would have barely seen Harlowe move; one moment she was simply there and the next she was stood behind Felice with her hand over the shorter woman's mouth.

"No. Nope. Nada," she answered on the groups behalf, shooting Mattias a look that said 'so help me I will rip that head off your shoulders if you contradict me'. "If we want cash, now we've robbed the unrobbable bank, we can just go help ourselves to whatever bank we want," she shrugged a shoulder. It was a bluff of course, Harlowe never intended on robbing a bank every again after Vomitgeddon, but she hoped it worked on Felice. The redhead had been a thief in her last life but Harlowe was beginning to wonder if she had been some type of dragon-born too with how mesmerised with gold she was.

"Come on," she all but picked Felice up and threw her over her shoulder. "Let's bounce."

Wow. Double or nothing? They already had nothing. There was absolutely no harm in playing. Nervously she eyed Mattias and then she allowed her pupils to move towards where Harlowe was... but she wasn't there. The vampire had suddenly vanished and now yoip.

A hand covered her mouth and she was unable to speak. Breathing wasn't really a thing that her new body did but it was still an odd sensation when something blocked air from reaching her lips.

She nodded along as her vampiric friend laid out their new lives as bankrobbers and resisted the temptation to try and break away from her grasp. They could have double of what they stole! They were already walking away with nothing! This was a deal that offered infinite upside, surely they'd be fools not to take it!

There wasn't really a chance for her to explain her logic though as Harlowe lifted her up as if she were a sack of potatoes and carried her back towards the direction of the ever loyal Doyle. "That. was. so. badass." she admitted as her body jostled around in Harlowe's arms.

For a few seconds the demon stared at Matias, his gaze only flickering over towards Harlowe who had made their intent perfectly clear. It seemed for just a bare second that the creature would disagree, press the point, but eventually a shrug rolled over it's shoulders.

"Suit yourselves."

It said, before turning it's head. Mouth opening as though it were about to speak. "No"

Mattias warned, and the Rhaksha simply grinned. It's tiger like lips falling shut as another shrug passed, and then it turned away. Slowly, all around them, as the Monsters began to depart, the carnival began to fold in on itself.

Tents shifted and turned in on themselves, carpets were rolled up, and people seemed to snap out of existence. Within seconds the carnival no longer existed, and the monsters found themselves walking away through a barren Savannah.

"Fucking demons." Matias muttered to himself as he stepped up alongside Felice and Harlowe. "Least that problems done."

"I never want to see a demon again," Harlowe muttered and then paused and glanced down at Felice. "No offence," she offered then set the hair demon down. With the tents and temptation gone she trusted the girl not to endanger them again. For now. No doubt very soon, not far from here, they would find themselves in some other tight spot. They always did.

"Let's go home," such as it were, the odd little fortress they had fought to own for themselves. "I would like a night where we aren't fighting or trying to do something to save our necks."

"That's ok," Felice said to Harlowe, "we really are the worst."

Though admittedly the Rhaksha was far more of a threat than she'd ever been. Now all they had to do was return to the regiment and hope that they weren't into too much trouble for involving themselves with a gambling demon.

Although, she really couldn't help but sympathize with what Harlowe was suggesting. "A night where we can just unwind sounds great." Maybe they could hit up another casino somewhere else.

Home.

What an odd concept now.

Before he had...passed, Matias had fought for home. He had given his life for Feíara, literally. For his family, for his people. He had fought in their name and he had done so until the end. There was none who could argue with him. Make him pay now.

That was what this was supposed to be about.

So far from who he had been that he'd not thought of Feíara for months. This was a new life, his own life. No service to lord or land. His decision. His choice. Briefly he glanced over towards Felice and Harlowe. Another few beats passing before he agreed. "Home."
