Hofkiin Laas. The only home Axel knew as even partially his. The roots he had lay a century ago, giving him the position of In Kinbok, the Master of the Realm.

Stepping to the gates, Axel did what generally required three individuals. He pushed the gargantuan gates to the state open. This was a special location. A small city housed within walls near insurmountable, that held enough business, people, and housing, to flourish with prosperity. At its center Yath Vokriis, or Citadel - where Axel lived with the tomes of Casters past. It was basically the housing unit for everything prescious to his people.

The man is effectively a King amongst his men, as well as the leader.

But this small principality, this realm and domain, has one vast reason for existence. Despite its size, ignoring the large success, it was made centuries prior when at the coastline a breed of Dragon was found to mate and lay eggs. By some lost ritual or accident, a Dragon was bonded to an Elf. This became the first Rider. So it was here, near the Nest, that they named home.

As Dragon Eggs are born, potential candidates come forth. Upon a destined Rider touching the correct egg, it will hatch. Said Dragon and Rider become banded when the Dragon burns the connection to them. Telepathically bonded, allowed each other's memories and knowledge, as if two halves of the same mind.

It also allows Drakonic Magic.

Meeting the faces of the surprised guards, Axel smiled as he closed the vast gates with a swing on their hinges. None knew that an already powerful Elf had used Mimicry sacrifice and spells, to assist an elder dying Dragom to the afterlife. As he did so he took in the wings, muscles, and eyes of said ancient. If ever he needed, the man could glide small distances. He could see for miles with am acuity unmatched. And his muscle capacity was off the charts.

"Sir!"

"Relax guys. No worries." Axel said, not wanting them to worry this was some surprise test. Why hadn't he sent alert of his arrival? Where was the entourage?! They didn't know he traveled with his entourage overhead.

The roughly 20 meter long, shimmering blue-silver scaled Sunvaar he called his soulmate, flew elogantly overhead. Letting loose a roar that shook panes, it brought a smile to Axels face. Also fear to the guard's.

They must be new. This whole place was made to house and train growing Dragons and Riders.

Leaping like a fool, the man climbed to the top of the wall. He wouldn't admit the show of his strength actually made him sore. Looking back the way he had come, now from vantage, he sighed. It was good coming home.

Following the wall he made for the Citadel.

Little one, I am growing hungry. We flew for half a day straight. The thoughts of his darling dwelt in his mind as she circled overhead. She was a freethinking being. But she knew his word was law, despite his never encouraging such thoughts.

"It's fine, darling, go. Feast." He spoke aloud, knowing his thoughts were her own to read as if she herself had thought them.

With that she veered off into the distance.

If not for her Bonding, she would never understand many of the things she saw as her powerful wings beat a pattern that sent her skyward. Her Little Fahliil was letting her go hunt. She knew it was safe inside the walls. Walls good. Protect.

Moving to East, Seraphim beat a steady drum of the wind. Her eyes, the Apex predator eyes that they were, searched the grounds below as she moved. Speeds were not a problem nor goal at this point.

Hunt. Fur things. Fluffy. Meat and blood. Sheep got into her teeth, but she lied to herself if she said she didn't adore the flavor.

Coasting along on an updraft, a gust of hot warm air those rose against the cold downdrafts and lifted her without so much effort, Seraphim spotted a small herd of goats. Darting in like an arrow she scorched the ground and meats with a vast deep blue flame that poured from her mouth like a viscous near liquid thing.

When she finally touched down, five dead goats roasted in her flames. They were quickly reached and pulled into a pile. Food. Eats. Stomach silent. Tasty. A half dozen sheep went down for the power of the Sunvaar.

Knamyrah sat perched atop a large rock jutting outwards toward the sea, feet in the water, and trying to make friends with a rather beautiful sea dragon. Quite note worthy in size, she was one of the biggest water dragons she had ever come into to contact with. At least 80 feet long, easily, and nearly 20 feet in width.

This one was stubborn though, it would seem. Slowly, so as not to alarm her, Knamyrah moved, standing upright, still atop her jutting rock. Sticking out her hand just as the large creature was moving past her, she grabbed ahold of her and jumped onto her back.

Panicking, and attempting to get Knamyrah off of her back, the dragon dove, darting quickly to the bottom. Of course, breathing water was an ability she cherished, and it came in handy at this time. So she held tight, petting her gently the entirety of the ride. Once at the bottom, Knamyrah jumped off, swimming around on her own.

Knamyrah felt at home on land, it was true, but she always enjoyed spending time with the underwater life. It was so quiet and relaxing. She could swim with dolphins, sharks, mantas and sting rays. She loved the beautiful rainbow of the reefs. So she enjoyed being down there in this big girl's element, maybe she would be easier to befriend. After a while, the dragon took off, and she started swimming back up.

When she reached about halfway back up towards the surface, the dragon caught up with her, coming back up herself it seemed. Interesting. This creature was angry. But Myrah wouldn't give in easily. It would just take a little longer to befriend her. Sitting back down on her rock, Knamyrah dawned her stockings and her boots. As she stood back up to get off of the rock, air started to stir all around her.

Within a moment, she had completely been dry. Quickly after that, she pooled together a small "bridge" of water that she seemed to float on, that brought her to the sandy, rocky shore. Calling out to Stregone, her pet unicorn, and Cristallo, her dragon, Knamyrah began walking along the beach, back towards the town she had been visiting.

Leaving his bags and armor inside the Citadel, Axel moved free of the large building. A quick examination of the Tomes had told him the locks emplaced upon the entrance held, but were waring away. A simple removal of old, replaced with new protection was swift.

It left him a bit winded, and a slice on his palm. Blood magic was a constant for him. The man had long learned dozens of forms of magic, but found each bettered when utilizing blood. The number of scars on his hands and forearms was astonishing.

Knowing his charge as leader was done, the man moved to his next steps. Recent word had told of birth. The wild and Bonded Sunvaar had Nested. He needed to check the status of the eggs and the parental beasts on the cliff nearby.

Climbing to the top of the wall, he soared to the ground more than thirty meters away, landing as if using a parachute of some time. With that he walked the final half mile to the Nest Grounds.

Gargantuan dragons, medium sized, each a different shade hue and type soared or rested with their eggs. He sent out a cheerful telepathic greeting. It was a varying return, but non hostle. Were he not who he was, he likely would have been eviscerated. Some of these breeds were into the triple digit meters in length. Tons upon tons of muscle, scales, Apex predator.

Glancing to the west, before beginning his project, his Drakonic Gaze reached into the distance. A few miles out, nearly in dangerous territory, was a woman. She had a small dragon of her own... And something else. He couldn't make it's species from the distance.

A sharp whistle sounded into the skies. It was astonishing in it's power. But the response was fast. In the distance a roar sounded. Seraphim was coming for his aid.

Leaping into the skies he floored himself and ran down the beach. As he neared, a Shadow began moving around below him, signaling she was in the skies overhead.

Who is that? There shouldn’t be anyone near the nests. Seraphim spoke into his mind.

Sending a feeling of confusion he called to the woman, “Excuse me. Can I help you? This area is very dangerous!!”

Knamyrah looked up, instantly alarmed. She felt all goose-bumpy. "Oh, hello. I wasn't aware that there were restricted areas... I'm merely a visitor, I spend most of my time in mountainous forests." She didn't stop walking, though her pet and familiar had both moved in to be closer to her.

Looking up, she saw the man's large dragon familiar. "She's a beauty," she said, gesturing towards the flying creature. "I'm Knamyrah, by the way. I assume you have a name as well?" Raising her eyebrows, she put her hands on her hips as she studied him up and down.

"Oh, and you might wanna put up some warning posters or something, if there's danger nearby. I'm surely not the only person who likes to take walks on the beach." Shaking her head, she folded her arms across her chest. Knamyrah may be small in stature, but she was quite a force to be wreckoned with, and was often underestimated. But she was titled the 'brat princess,' and it was a rather fitting name.

Axel nodded glancing to the behemoth above himself. His familiar could easily hear what was transpiring, and even at a distance she could just hear through him. Knowing there wasn't danger he glanced to the nearest cliff. The image was simple.

Go there. Just in case.

Her beautiful form rested aloof upon the rocks. She was large andin charge. It would be easy to kill everyone of them. Maybe not easy to take Axel - but they both knew how that battle would go. Though she would kill herself before harming him.

"Listen, there is a spot nearby that.. well it is swarming with Sunvaar. I can tell you have the beautiful specimen there. Come with me, I can talk more with you in the protection of the walls nearby." Axel gestured toward the East.

"You can ride your friend there," Axel pointed at the beautiful Unicorn, "Your familiar can follow Seraphim, and I can run alongside. I will make sure nothing happens to you before the walls. What do you think?"

Already Seraphim began to shift. She would get to be tough and mature around a youngling. Though honestly she would be all facade. Pretend to be mean. Nip at him. Bully him. But all a fun playtime for her.

"I think that sounds like an... Interesting turn of events, in my favor. But I'd be pleased to accompany you. My steed here, his name is Stregone. And my young dragon familiar there, that's Cristallo."

She stepped towards her pet, darkness incarnate on the outside. He was a tortured soul, and she had rescued him from the grips of death. Sensing his discomfort, Knamyrah rubbed her face and nose against her steed's, petting him and sending him waves of comfort.

Then, rather abruptly, she kissed the unicorn on his cheek, skipped back and around in a dancer's step, and mounted his back. Cris, you be a good boy for Mama, fly with the big girl up there. Go on, have fun. [I/]

Seraphim shouted to the skies before lifting to the air. It took a moment before she was vast distance above them waiting for the young dragon. When he neared they veered off to the side and flew toward home.

Axel meanwhile began a swift jog up the beach. The man was a powerful elven breed, with stunted magic talents in trade for strength and speed. This too was combined with the Mimicry spells that combined him with a Sunvaar. His muscle capacity and stamina were insane.

It wouldn't be hard to keep up with the Unicorn at a steady gallop. But should the ursine decide to go full tilt, he wouldn't lie to himself - he would be left in the dust.

"You are lucky. This is my city. My domain. So it isn't hard for me to get you in." Axel called to the woman, vaulting a small stone blockade. Instead of going around, he went over.

"Being out here, especially now, is incredibly dangerous." He continued, "Nesting season means a lot of protective Sunvaar."

Soon they neared the gates, and he had Seraphim roar their arrival. As the gates slowly opened he smiled at his guest and said, "Welcome to Hofkiin Laas. The Home of the Dragons."

Knamyrah didn't know what to say at first, so she mostly just smiled, waved and nodded at everyone. Looking over at the man that had led her here, she hoped he could hear as she sent a whisper through the air to him, thanking him and gushing over the beauty of this seaside city.

She continued to ride on her unicorn through town, following behind the tattooed stranger. She sent another whisper to him through the air, leaving another bullet-like trail as it swirled and hurled toward his ear. She wasn't sure anyone could see it, other than her.

"Where are you leading me, sir? I need shelter, or at least a bath. Is there perhaps a tavern nearby? I could surely rent a room for the night, to eat and clean myself up, as well as get some much needed rest."

Travel took a lot out of her pets, and when they acted up it made things hard for her. She tried to always have tonics and medicines for them on hand while traveling such long distances, but they were both just big babies, and would cry no matter what.

As the people watched their leader move past with his companion, there was noise as there always was. It was a bustling city, not to mention a new comer, as well as their leader. It was uncommon to see this. All of it combined to the cacophony of decibels.

She spoke to him, utilizing magics to send the words to him. He acknowledged all with a nod, but remained silent until they neared the Citadel. As the large building came into view, he slid to a stop. Dusting his hands on his pants he tore his shirt off, which now was healthy soaked in sweat.

"I stay here. There is a guest room, all the amenities. Or just around the corner is a small tavern that likely has rooms. The place doesn't get much activity." Axel stated calmly, shrugging lightly, "Entirely up to you.

"Over there," Axel pointed a different direction, "Is a stable. Your mount may stay there." Smiling, "The Dragons have a fun place to stay nearby. I'm sure Seraphim showed your fsmilair where to go."

Knamyrah grinned over at the man. " Well, isn't that polite of her," she giggled. "So, you still haven't told me what I should call you?" Raising an eyebrow, she looked towards him, now bare-chested. She studied the artwork that had been etched into his skin, over his muscles.

She had several herself, tribal markings, flames and lightning strikes. All of hers, though, has just... Shown up. With each aspect of magic that she became skilled in, they had appeared on her skin as if to physically show her magic. She imagined that his had been real tattoos, that he sat through hours of pain to have them applied to his skin.

"I think I will stay here, since I have a friend here," she winked at him. "Just show me where I gotta go! Should I drop Stregone off first? It should only take but a minute."

It looked to her like he nodded again, so Knamyrah just turned to take her unicorn to the shelter of the stables for the night. As she placed him inside and closed the gate, she sent out a message to her familiar, sending love and hope that he was enjoying himself.

Knamyrah was relieved to hear his happy response, as he sounded positively delighted to be around other dragons. It wasn't often he got to make a new friend, so she tried to leave him to have his fun. Then she rushed back to the inn that she had been taken to, looking for her tattooed friend.

Axel nodded and showed her to the rooms left open for guests, "Whichever you like. Bathrooms are on site. Use whatever you wish." At that he bowed low, "I will seek you out in the morning. I have some questions for you, but they will wait."

Returning to his room, he pondered her dragon. The young male was exemplary in attitude from first glance, as well as appearance was nothing but perfection. The problem was its size. It clearly denoted youth. A dragon grows in age. With the familiar bond, it elongates the life of the individual. So both would grow for centuries potentially.

Why then was he so small? Unless he was a hatchling. Not even cresting his first century. The girl and he needed training then.

Sleep was brief and swift.

When he woke he approached the woman and silently nodded, before leading her to the dining hall. It was communal. So many of the civilians were present enjoying hot meals.

"Please, eat. I wish to ask you about your dragon." He paused to grab some food for himself, when they'd sat he began, "Alright, first just to refresh, I'm Axel you are.. Knamyrah right? Ok well, might I ask how old is your familiar? Also don't worry, Sephjra will see him to hunting grounds and assist with a meal.

"So, how did you come by his egg? It should have only ever been present here or at the Nest. What sort of training have you attained? Or his training?" As he spoke the man sensed Sephira getting distant. They were going to hunt.

"Well, I found his egg, actually. Not too far from an ocean, similar to this one but there isn't a city. There are just dragons. I don't know anything about how I got there, all I remember is waking up on a beach, warm sand beneath my skin, being shaded by a palm tree.

"Well, I look up, and there is a dragon within 30 feet of me. A large male dragon, probably closer to 100 feet long. But I stood up, slowly, with my hands in the air and just wanted to communicate how I didn't wish him any harm, and to please not harm me.

" And he understood me. It was amazing, and I didn't understand. But soon after, I met a nice lady, and she taught me some elemental magic, some of my powers of nature. But I've learned a lot on my own, too. Anyway, the egg was unique because it didn't match the rest of them. And none of the dragons seemed to mind if it was harmed. So, I took it."

Knamyrah shook her head, living in the memory for a moment. Coming back to reality, she looked back at Axel. "Cristallo, he's almost 60." She had forgotten the question for a moment, and couldn't help but blush slightly of embarrassment before correcting herself. "He'll be 60 on his next birthday. Why do you ask?"

Axel froze with his food half way to his mouth. Wait a minute. Sunvaar Nesting somewhere not on the cliffs... That went against what had occured for centuries... That made this girl a chosen by some deity. It was the only option. Something guided the Dragons to her to deliver an egg.

Hell, he himself had to come here to find Sephira's egg. And he is now number one.

Moving the bite the rest of the way, he munched in silence. What had occured was an anomaly but she had handled it as best as could be done. Hands up, showing no danger toward the beast. Had she even flinched incorrect she would have been scorched and left to decay or simply eaten.

It was when she said the dragon egg wasn't the same that he nodded tapping the table. A thief. They were not uncommon. By some means, generally magic, they would come to the cliffs to steal an egg and get away with it.

The dragon that approached might have sensed the egg's connection, or simply saught to bring it to someone it hoped would take the egg to proper safety. Either way, it actually explained much.

"I believe that Cristallo was stolen from the cliffs. Either way, that is fine. The Gods willed your destiny to be, to be a Rider. Which is why you are here now.

"A dragon of such power, and young age, needs to be molded. Trained in combat, for their Riders protection, use of their own magics. All the things necessary." He looked to her, "Just as you as well. Would you allow myself and Sephira to teach you?"

Knamyrah opened her mouth to speak, but she heard a familiar sound in the distance, which made her perk her ears up. Cristallo was flying nearby, she could hear his familiar little grunts as he flew. Flashing an apology grin, she closed her mouth before trying to talk.

"Well, what is it that you wish to teach me? I'm an excellent student," she said, still grinning. "Although, I should tell you. I'm... Strong, and powerful already, I can feel it. I just... I don't know how strong or powerful. But if you could help me learn how to use my powers correctly, that might be good."

As she was not one for food in the morning, Knamyrah just sipped her coffee as she spoke to Axel. "If you want to teach combat, however, I would certainly be interested in lessons. And I could definitely use some training for my young monster." She giggled at her nickname for her dragon, her beastie. But she loved him, head to talon.

"When do you wish to start? I can meet you somewhere, if you like. Although, on second thought it might be best for you to lead me out of town again, your highness? Either way though I must go check on my unicorn, as I'm sure Stregone is awake and grumpy by now."

Axel nodded at all her words. She seemed eager, which was something he found light and appeasing. Most were stubborn, sensing the power within their connection to their dragon. A lot of the time it was a drag to get a single lesson through.

When she called him highness. It gave him a start. No one had ever called him that. Then again outside of the Walls he never touted his position. Inside they called him different titles. Effectively he was a King, but it wasn't actually what he sought to be called or made to represent.

"I am glad to hear the urge to learn. It is great in those so young." Finishing his meal, Axdl waved a hand and the dishes soared gently through the air toward a bin designated for them, "Your lessons will first be in history. First and foremost you must know your ancestral background, just as Cristallo must as well. Without history, you will repeat ancient mistakes.

"Soon though I will explain Drakonic Magic and how it works. The basics of it. Then I will have you begin working the power found inside of your dragon." Axel pausef, "One example, you know this breed of dragons is actually known as Sunvaar, the name coming from their own language."

"I didn't know that, but he looks different than any others I've seen. Although it is always possible he could be a mut, or a mix-breed. I've never been anywhere with other dragons since I left that place. I keep to the woods, or the mountains, and my enhanced hearing lets me know if anyone is headed in my direction."

Knamyrah disliked, and feared, those on two feet more than any creature on four, including dragons. No animal could kill her, but a man could, and so she tended to stay hidden. Not that she felt like giving him those details. "I have incredible vision, and I'm pretty durable. As far as I've learned it's all because I am Elvyre."

Knamyrah also didn't want to admit that being what she was, which was Elementis, helped her to communicate with all animals, including dragons. Though they were harder to understand, and she felt it may be the same for them. She couldn't communicate with owned dragons, though.

As far as Knamyrah could tell, they had to be wild and young enough to be open, friendly. Because the more friendly a creature is, the easier to make a connection with them. And the more susceptible they were to her scent, the pheromones she put off. Animals were all attracted to it.

"So. History, huh? The most boring subject to learn. Well, depending on which history we're talking. Although, you're easy to look at... So this may not be so bad. What the heck," Knamyrah said, shrugging with a crooked grin on her face. "Yeah, I'm in. I suppose I got nothin' better to do."

Another rare species. He himself was Suleyk Fahliil, or Elder Elf as far as translations go. His was a branch of Elf that had long ago traded almost all ability to use magic, to enhance their durability, strength, agility, senses - they upgraded everything about themselves. He had gained usage of real magics after his bonding with Seraphim. Without it, he could barely conjure a gust of wind. Not that he could remember those days, he just knew what his fellow brethren were capable of.

With shaved sides and back of his head, the top hairs long, flowing all to the right, he need only point to his spear tip ears, "I too am Elvish. A different breed. But Elvish." He rose and they began walking from the Citadel toward the walls, "I am Suleyk Fahliil. In the ancient tongue, it means I am an Elder Elf. My species is polar opposite to what you describe. Almost no magic what so ever.

"But they can match any Troll or Orc in strength." He grinned at that. Pointing to the massive twenty foot gates at the wall as they walked, he continued, "Everything enhanced for trading almost all use of magic. Such an idea.

"Anyway. I think I may have heard of your people, or been near a small clan at one time. We called them Wood Elves, Seraphim and I." Axel finally led her outside, spotting Seraphim and Cristallo sitting atop a hill nearby. Both were lazily doing what Sunvaar do. She cleaning her claws, he looking to be sleeping in the sunlight.

"We can begin training up there by them." Axel said and they neared. Seraphim moved her snout, a mouth so big it could eat him in a bout, and bumped his chest like a cat wanting attention. He began caressing her scales and the spaces between them lovingly.

"Hope you two bonded." He said aloud for his new friends benefit.

We did. I tried to teach him a bit. Lucky we can communicate together. It would be annoying if we couldn't. Seraphim said into his mind.

"Good. Well, we are to begin training. Sera, please show him how to do a proper dive." He turned to the woman as Sera instantly lurched to the skies. She rose to show the other Sunvaar a thing or two.

"So what do you know your Dragon Rider heritages?"

Knamyrah walked alongside the man as they approached their familiars. As she neared him, he stirred and awoke, grunting as he stretched and then sat up.

"You're so cute when you're waking up," she told him, smiling at her big baby as she pet him, nuzzled him.

"Excuse me? Dragon what? I don't know anything about that. I just know that he is my baby, and my familiar. And obviously, we're linked mentally." Knamyrah had never heard of dragon riders. Couldn't anyone raise a dragon, have a dragon familiar? Surely that was a common thing.

"Hey, Rah. Look! I've been learning stuff, see?"

Knamyrah stood near Axel, watching as Cristallo flew through the air with Seraphim, following her and doing as she did. She could hear his little grunts, and could feel how light and free Cristallo felt flying through the air.

Axel chuckled, "Yes, you are linked. But why, that is what I wonder if you are aware of." Glancing skyward as the two dragons shouted their roars back and forth. Each was obviously enjoying the other as a friend. Maybe some day they would be more for themselves..

Without moving his gaze from their play, he began, "Thousands of years back - debate goes about exactly when, but many of the most ancient of my breed recall it being before their days - there was a small flock of dragons that had begun to differ from their fellow winged lizards." The words he spoke quickly had a retaliated roar over head, "She hates when I say they that. You see, Dragons are a proud species, and why shouldn't they be. They are Apex. Their knowledge is incredible. Their magic potent.

"This small group left their larger kingdom, left their areas. Some believe they came from I've the seas. That might be why they did so much, when you think about it. Anyway, they left." Axel shrugged, "They needed a new place as home. So they chose the cliffs nearby, overlooking the seas. It was there they would return from adult life to lay their eggs and hatch their young.

"It was for this that their space was chosen. As far as nests go, it was perfect." He finally brought his eyes down, "From the words of the Dragons, a mage came to claim the first eggs of a season. Why, none will ever know. But a Ranger happened upon the magical battle that raged, and with a cunning he snuck closer and slew the mage.

"His reward was an ancient and lost ritual. The dragons bound an egg to the man, to his mind, his spirit, his life. They made it as if the egg, and dragon within, were a missing half of the Ranger." The man said, his words spoke volumes. For she would understand, like he, what those that didn't have a Dragon could understand. Their familiars became literally a part of them. What one thought, the other felt. Same with emotions, urges, loves and hates. Everything a Rider was, their dragon emulated it perfectly.

"It hatched forthwith." Axel turned his eyes skyward once more, watching as now Seraphim taught Cristallo how to barrel roll to avoid attacks. "The Dragon grew as most do. Growing slow but steady. However, the Ranger found he could now tap into the magics of the Dragon. His life was enhanced.

"He became stronger, faster, his senses increased. Years flew by without much effect on him." Axel said, "So it was he was chosen to rule kingdoms and people. Yet he knew this was never a good thing, power to the powerful. He could be corrupted by his own abilities and become a tyrant. So he refused.

"This led him to the nearby walls. At first Hofkiin Laas was small. A tenth its size, even less. Yet, it became prosperous. He didn't wish to lead. He wished to teach. To aid. So that was his job. He never sought control." Axel sat finally, atop a large rock, "Millenia passed however, and Zeno, his dragon, wished a friend. For with his joining to the Ranger, he had given up much interaction with his own species.

"Thus the Ranger struck a deal. Protection from the evils of man and all other two legs, for a true bond between the Sunvaar and our kind. Every egg that is lay has a fifty percent chance to bear a marking. This will be one of those whom becomes a Rider." Axel looked back to the woman, "And the Sunvaar always houses their eggs there at the cliffs. So your finding one was so odd.

"From the cliffs a potential Rider descends with the blessing of the congregation. They will lay hand upon the eggs bearing the Mark. Should one bear his destined familiar, it will hatch. If not, it will remain as is. The saddest thing is a candidate can train his whole life and miss the egg destined for him. Some never have a destined mount.

"Truly sad." He paused, "As eons have passed, the Riders have passed down their intellect to the next generation, allowing our knowledge to grow. We are historians, mages and casters, protectors and police. But never a ruler.

"It is what we are." Axel settled a bit more comfortably, "I could continue more in depth, explain some of what we have seen. But the point is, for example that I must protect the Tomes. Our written history. You, must learn so as to train others, and protect this nation and her people."

Knamyrah watched her dragon as Axel spoke, but she listened intently. She had heard some legends before, but they had just been stories, she thought. She had never come across a rider before, he was the first one.

"Wow, I never knew. I mean, of course I've heard stories. But that's all they were, at least that's all they were supposed to be." Knamyrah was not surprised to hear this. She herself had a dragon. So it clearly was more possible than she had originally thought.

"How would any potential riders miss their egg? And what would happen to one when rejected? Surely there's other ways to get one."

Knamyrah could not grasp all of the details yet. How could one not find an egg? It was incredibly sad to hear. She couldn't imagine life without her baby. Cristallo was her better half, and he had been there as far back as she can remember. As far as she k ew, she was reborn for him. Intrigued, she gave Axel an encouraging look to continue with his lesson.

"You see, a dragon has a destiny. It's Rider is chosen by the gods the moment it is free of the mother. The parents care for it, nuture it as they await the hatch or Rider." Axel said, bending a knee to rest his arms on, "Imagine this. Destiny claims Gaross Delike is the Rider, but he is literally as far on the other side of the nation as possible. How do we contact him?

"How do we get him here? How does anyone even know it is his destiny? These are things unknown, for it the work of the Gods." Axel broadly gestured, "Everything is destined. We can manipulate it though, change it. Say Gaross never arrives, but one hundred years after the birthing of the eggs, Trentin Breese arrives to the cliffs. His essence is close. He is of the same caliber. Same aura.

"The egg hatches for Trentin." Axel rested on his knees once more, eyeing the woman, "Destiny said Gaross, who never showed, but Trentin was a good enough second. Trentin and the egg Bond. It becomes his familiar. They become one as is supposed to happen.

"Again, destiny. We managed to manipulate it, but the dragon is still meant to become something with Trentin. They become powerful riders." Axel held up a hand, "But think of every other Rider that touched it. Touched all of the eggs. He was not destined.

"Sometimes they find one in a second Descent. Others it's a miracle and the egg comes to them. But most sadly, there are thousands of potential riders through history whom are never chosen by a dragon." Axel sighed, "It happens."

Axel paused, looking back to the skies. The barrel roll lessons continued. Obviously Seraphim felt that his progress was not enough. Her scales shined so brightly that it swelled pride in his chest. It was astounding.

"So. Magic. What do you know if it? Of it's potential? You say you have some lessons. What are they?" Axel murmured.

Knamyrah grinned, and her hands started to glow. All around her, the air started to swirl, and soon she was floating nearly a foot in the air. Leaves were shaken loose from trees, and they flew all around her.

"I can control elements, but I can only work with what is available for me to utilize. I can use water to carry me around in the ocean. If there's a storm, I can absorb lightning and shoot it from my fingers. And I can conjure fireballs if I'm near flames."

Knamyrah slowly lowered to the ground as everything became calm. The air stopped swirling around, all the leaves and debris fall to the ground. At the same moment, she spaced out, concentrating on her dragon as he felt frustrated about something. He was having trouble learning how to barrel roll through the sky.

"Do you have powers as well? Maybe we can have lessons in magic as well, if you don't mind," Knamyrah said, looking up at him through her eyelashes and grinning. "I want to learn how to do more. I feel like I have all this energy inside of me, trying to come out. But I don't know how to tap into it and control it. Maybe you could help?"

When she spoke of her skills he rubbed his chin. The elements are incredibly difficult to control, hard to work, mostly the area of the Deities. Anything could go wrong when using them. Not to mention the ones mentioned, such as lightning, were extremely and severely draining.

When she commented on using fireballs, he waved a hand, muttered the Drakonik term for fireball and hurled one away from them. That simple. No fire nearby either. Just dragon magic at its finest.

"I have power. All Riders do. That’s what you are sensing by the way. The same connection all Riders possess. The connection to their Dragons and their rides heritage.” Axel said calmly, his gaze taking in everything she did, “I would love to teach you, to help you understand the power you have access too. But you would need to take the proper mantle of Rider. To be there for the people that need you.”

Knamyrah stopped, and started to stumble as her feet reached the ground. She was exhausted now, that amount of power use drained her of a lot of energy. Finding a rock big enough, she sat on it, cradling her head in her hands.

Knamyrah had to just breathe for a moment. She always felt light-headed when she used her powers, and the more she used, the more it exhausted her physically. Clear-headed, and breathing normally, she looked up at Axel and grinned crookedly.

"I never thought about it before, what gives me my powers. I was told I have Elementis powers, because of what I am. But I never considered that I had "rider' powers, I didn't know any of the things you have taught me."

Knamyrah paused, she could sense that Stregone was feeling anxious. She attempted to send him thought waves, she tried to call him to her. Cristallo came down to her for a second, licked her on her face, and took off again into the sky.

"So, I would very much like to stay for a while, Mr. Teacher," she looked up at him and winked, the grin on her face had turned to a full blown smile. She liked him,his energy. And it was quiet around him, which she enjoyed.
