Hofkiin Laas. The only home Axel knew as even partially his. The roots he had lay a century ago, giving him the position of In Kinbok, the Master of the Realm.
Stepping to the gates, Axel did what generally required three individuals. He pushed the gargantuan gates to the state open. This was a special location. A small city housed within walls near insurmountable, that held enough business, people, and housing, to flourish with prosperity. At its center Yath Vokriis, or Citadel - where Axel lived with the tomes of Casters past. It was basically the housing unit for everything prescious to his people.
The man is effectively a King amongst his men, as well as the leader.
But this small principality, this realm and domain, has one vast reason for existence. Despite its size, ignoring the large success, it was made centuries prior when at the coastline a breed of Dragon was found to mate and lay eggs. By some lost ritual or accident, a Dragon was bonded to an Elf. This became the first Rider. So it was here, near the Nest, that they named home.
As Dragon Eggs are born, potential candidates come forth. Upon a destined Rider touching the correct egg, it will hatch. Said Dragon and Rider become banded when the Dragon burns the connection to them. Telepathically bonded, allowed each other's memories and knowledge, as if two halves of the same mind.
It also allows Drakonic Magic.
Meeting the faces of the surprised guards, Axel smiled as he closed the vast gates with a swing on their hinges. None knew that an already powerful Elf had used Mimicry sacrifice and spells, to assist an elder dying Dragom to the afterlife. As he did so he took in the wings, muscles, and eyes of said ancient. If ever he needed, the man could glide small distances. He could see for miles with am acuity unmatched. And his muscle capacity was off the charts.
"Sir!"
"Relax guys. No worries." Axel said, not wanting them to worry this was some surprise test. Why hadn't he sent alert of his arrival? Where was the entourage?! They didn't know he traveled with his entourage overhead.
The roughly 20 meter long, shimmering blue-silver scaled Sunvaar he called his soulmate, flew elogantly overhead. Letting loose a roar that shook panes, it brought a smile to Axels face. Also fear to the guard's.
They must be new. This whole place was made to house and train growing Dragons and Riders.
Leaping like a fool, the man climbed to the top of the wall. He wouldn't admit the show of his strength actually made him sore. Looking back the way he had come, now from vantage, he sighed. It was good coming home.
Following the wall he made for the Citadel.
Little one, I am growing hungry. We flew for half a day straight. The thoughts of his darling dwelt in his mind as she circled overhead. She was a freethinking being. But she knew his word was law, despite his never encouraging such thoughts.
"It's fine, darling, go. Feast." He spoke aloud, knowing his thoughts were her own to read as if she herself had thought them.
With that she veered off into the distance.
