Deliv - Cortosi Border

Though war with Cortos was slowly creeping closer day by day, not all the Free-Cities were entirely opposed to Anirian influence.

While some sought independence, and others built upon the Radiant Church, some cities were more than happy to welcome the order and economic might of Vel Anir. Deliv, was one of these cities. Located on the Asha River, what had once been a simple crossing between two territories had grown into a sprawling urban center. So stuffed to the brim with people that the whole place had been described as little more than a hive of chaos and scum.

Not all agreed with that assessment, however. Mainly the city council and those citizens who had lived there for longer than the gambling dens had existed. Thus an invitation had been extended. Deliv's city councilor and mayor sending an invitation to Vel Anir, offering to join the great Republic if they quelled the cities chaotic underbridge.

A task that was to be undertaken by Arn and his fellows.

"Right. This will be easy." The Farmboy said as he stood at the head of his small company, a shield in his left hand, sword upon his hip. Superiors having decided that no bows would be needed in Underbridge. The slums so tightly packed it would be hard to maneuver, much less shoot an arrow without hurting someone.

"We're here to be nice and friendly." He reminded his squad. "Just looking for this Pasquel fellow in the...Drowning Rat?"

What an awful name for a tavern. "That's our first one. Let's be courteous, everyone should cooperate."

Arn said happily.

"Oh, yeah..."
Hellen's voice was so heavy with sarcasm it could anchor a ship in a storm.
"Everybody loves it when the Booters come knocking at your workplace."
Her refusal to refer to The Guard as anything but "Booters" was a habit she had picked up while in prison.
There was little distinction between them and "Nailers", which was the prison guards themselves in most people's eyes.
She did not think Arn was stupid, though she often wondered, no she knew him to be sharp and committed but by the Stones of the Dead he could be infuriatingly optimistic.

"Nice and friendly mixes with this place like oil and water," Felix responded back with a nervous chuckle.

His right hand kept checking for the shortsword on his belt, while his left arm sported a small buckler shield. He was prepared to a greater degree than what he usually was in cities, but for Deliv he would make an exception.

Almost the entire population of the underbridge here looked like they had killed someone before or were well on their way down that path.

The city itself was built on top of a bridge making everything so cramped, which also meant fights broke out almost constantly when the residents thought they could get away with it. Thankfully, their presence had curtailed that practice just slightly. While they were just guards, the name of Vel Anir did carry some weight with it.

"Are we expecting this Pasquel to be alone?"

He glanced at the company they were with...No, probably not. They never were.

Rhory had to grimace, walking in front of Felix in their patrol and catching his comments. In a bid to appear less menacing as a group, she had hoped to walk in front of the group to make up for their first appearances. Arn, as lovely as he was, was tall and towered over many. He looked even a little menacing in their Guard gear, but no more menacing that the permanent scowl Hellen seemed to wear. Even her voice, her tone, was abrasive.

At least Felix, tall too, was not all that menacing looking... she hoped at least. Standing before the group, Rhory was able to smile, as if to say sorry about this as a way of apology and she cut them a path through the crowds. Hard not to miss her with her bright silver hair, tied back from her face and showing off the scar that ran from chin to neck, courtesy from one of the Dreadlords herself, Arn, and Owain had been tasked in tracking down.

"If they were, they wouldn't have sent more than two of us." She looked at each of them over her shoulder with a shrug. "Although I guess two of us could go in and the rest of us wait outside?"
