The Eternum

Undeath: some consider it to be an abomination, an unholy facsimile of life to be cast out and destroyed. Others view the undead as tools to further one's own vision and dreams. Some still consider it to be a tale told to unruly children, frightening and nothing more. But what of the dead? What do they believe?

When the mortal world treated the dead and those that raised them as beasts, they joined together to form the Eternum. A horde of necromancers and undead, desiring recognition and power, as well as protection against forces that would seek to harm them. Setting out for the Eretejva Tundra, they founded a city which they named: Sanctuary, or the Eternal City.

Overview

Structure

Governmental authority within the Eternum is held by a loose council, a collection of undead and necromancers who were present during the empire's founding and oversee its management. Each council member holds some level of power over smaller groups within the empire, as specialized or general as desired.

Should information ever need to be quickly transmitted down the chain of command, necromancy is often utilized. A message is sent down to necromancers via undead messengers, the most common of which being avians, who then transmit the information to undead Eternals.

History

Background

The Eternum was brought together through a beacon of necromantic energy summoned through an immense ritual performed by Eilasandree Ival. Numerous undead and necromancers heeded the call, curious as to who beckoned them so clearly. It was at that point that Eilasandree presented her plan: to found an empire, one as eternal as their bodies, free of those who would fear them. It was at that moment the Eternum was born.

They marched through the hazardous and harsh Blightlands, the orc tribes that stood in their path soon killed and turned to warriors as they continued their campaign to shore. They braved the incursion of demons from the realm of Pandemonium, hurt but not broken by the confrontation. They set sail across the seas that separated the Blightlands from the Eretejva Tundra, and soon, they had made it to their destination. A city was ready to be built.
