It had been a few weeks since Arastan had proposed in front of everyone and his mother had not so subtly vowed to torture Taliyah into the perfect Princess.

The Queen had not been kidding either. Etiquette lessons were by the far the worst thing she had ever been subjected to and that was saying something given her past. Etiquette lessons took up the majority of her days and she felt like she was back on bodyguard duty with more irritations.

She finally made it to her fiancé's room after a long day of trying to smile and not murder the Queen.

"ARAN!" Taliyah called out as she closed the large door behind her.

Arastan's head ducked out from the large bathroom area. He had a large smile on his face and he was completely in the nude.

Sadly, Taliyah could not get a good look at him to see as he was absolutely covered in soap suds. There was the sound of running water in the background.

"Hey Tal! How did the day with mom go?"

Arastan already knew the answer, of course, but he figured he would at least try to downplay so he did not improve whatever sort of dread or irritation that she was feeling.

"You've been at it all day."

Taliyah

"Will you still love me if I murder your mother?" Taliyah grumbled as she collapsed on the bed and looked into the bathroom. Now she had a good view of the body she loved so much...she loved the man that it belonged to as well...of course.

"I do not care about fork placements or that this fork is for salad and that one is for meat. Who cares?!"

Why couldn't she had just fallen in love with a normal man! Nooooooooo, she had to fall in love with a fucking Prince.

"She wants to get my scar fixed, Arastan! She said it was unsightly and no Princess would ever have blemished skin!"

Taliyah knew she was ranting now but he was also used to this being part of their evening routine. She was a fighter and she was being turned into a proper lady.

Arastan Aellevanda

"Oh, you know it's just my mom being protective." His mom was a lot, and he knew that all too well, but he also knew that if Taliyah could get through this then everything would work out fine. The Queen could be stubborn, but she would eventually give in.

A growl came from somewhere in the bathroom, and Arastan disappeared for a moment before sticking his head back out with a grin.

"I remember those days. I got yelled at a lot for running away into the forest, but don't worry. Eventually, that stuff sinks in without you even realizing it."

The comment about her scar was a bit more serious as Arastan understood the significance of that. His smile dropped for a moment as he spoke a bit more seriously.

"Tal, no matter what she says. If you do not want to lose that scar then she can not force you to fix it. I promise that and I will speak to her."

Taliyah

"It is not that she wants the scar gone...it is how she said it...but thank you. I really appreciate you talking to her. It hurt me."

Taliyah just watched Arastan and debated getting up. She needed to wash up and she liked their washing up activities.

"What are you doing in there?"

A single brow rose after she had asked the question. He was being weird.

Arastan Aellevanda

"Oh, nothing...just bathing."

His mother was just being mean-spirited, it was plain to see. She was seeing how far she could push Taliyah until she broke. That was not ok.

It was difficult to bring stuff up like this. Arastan had spent his entire life accepting orders from her, but he could not run from this. Tal was his soon-to-be wife. If he could not support her now, then he never would be able to.

"Just don't listen to anything like that. Don't be afraid to talk back to her. She can't control you...but maybe be a little polite about it..." Otherwise, that would just lead to more fights.

Another roar sounded and he ducked his head back in.

"Stop being such a baby. Just sit still." Taliyah would be able to overhear him saying.

Taliyah

Taliyah huffed. Be polite! She was nothing but polite to his mother. The woman hated her and she was the Queen. She could absolutely control Taliyah and the Queen knew it.

She was about to respond with something along the lines of your mother is a bitch when she head the roar. She immediately jumped from the bed and rushed into the bathroom.

"What the fuck, Arastan!?"

Arastan Aellevanda

Sitting in the middle of the bath, next to Arastan's own nude form was a large albino tiger that was covered head to toe in soap. The only part clearly visible being their face. Arastan grinned sheepishly as the tiger shook itself off, sending a spray of soap into Arastan's face.

"Sorry, Fane really needed a bath, but he only agreed if it was in here."

Fane seemed to playfully snarl as he shook his head like he was indicating that Arastan was lying. He then pushed him slightly with one of his paws.

"Ok, so maybe I just wanted to bathe him in here...I thought he would like it."

If an albino tiger could shrug in acknowledgment then that was what Fane had just done. He would admit that the bath was quite nice.

Taliyah

Taliyah had no words. They were literally gone.

She opened her mouth several times before closing it again and then she finally just laughed. It seemed that all the stress of her future mother-in-law had flowed out of her with this hilarious situation.

"Fane," Taliyah turned a mock disapproving look on the beautiful creature. "I expected better from you!"

Her fake ire then turned on her fiance, "and you...making such a mess like this! Shame!"

Arastan Aellevanda

Fane growled out along with a pout and nudged Arastan as if to say that it was his fault. Arastan quickly shook his head and looked sternly at Fane.

"Don't lie to her. This was your idea and you know it." Fane shook his head, while Arastan turned back to look at Taliyah with a grin.

"It's the bath. It can handle a little soap and water."
He said with a chuckle as he grabbed a bucket of water to rinse the suds from his animal companion.

Fane tried to run from the water but was hit firmly by the water. It groaned out again before running over to Taliyah for protection. He rolled over onto his back, showing her his belly.

Taliyah

Taliyah laughed out loud as Fane came running to her for protection. Apparently the tiger was under the impression that Arastan would not just throw the water on her too. The tiger was wrong. Arastan would destroy the whole room if it meant that they got to have some fun especially after she had a hard day.

She squatted down and rubbed Fane's belly as requested. "I am not good protection, my friend. You will drag me down with you now," she chuckled out.

She was still rubbing Fane's belly as she looked back up at her love and smiled. He knew how to brighten even the worst day and she loved him so much for it.

"If we really wanted to get him back, we could go play in some of the mud out in the garden..." Taliyah whispered conspiratorially to the tiger.

Arastan Aellevanda

Fane quickly sprang to their feet as their eyes shot towards the door, body tensing as they were bout to spring away.

Arastan stood there frozen with his bucket ready to be tossed, but he stopped. "Fane, if you go in that garden again then I will let the gardener Delonir wash you next time, and you know he is rough about it."

This did cause Fane a moment of hesitation as he looked between Arastan and Taliyah. Delonir was the gardener that always got mad and chased Fane out of the garden.

"Just finish the bath and then we will be done. Then...I'll just throw the water on Taliyah instead." The idea did sound nice, since Fane was almost done with his cleaning anyways.

Taliyah

Taliyah threw her hands up in surrender at the threat of water thrown on her while fully clothed.

"Fane, I think you would look wonderful in our wedding. All you have to do is not listen to the Prince. Remember who gives you the better belly rubs!"

She laughed out and looked from the tiger to Arastan with pure innocence shining in her eyes.

Arastan Aellevanda

Arastan locked eyes with Fane and knew that he had lost the argument. He did not wait and tossed the water out spraying Fane and catching Taliyah in a little of the crossfire.

"Don't you do it!"

Before he could say anymore, Fane took off out the door and down the hallways dripping wet, creating a trail of water down the hall.

Arastan sighed, but he could not help but let a smile crawl to his face as he looked at Taliyah. "The belly rubs were a lob blow. Completely unfair." He said as he moved over to wrap her up in his arms.

Taliyah

Taliyah yelped as the water hit her. She deserved it and she knew it was coming whether Fane stayed or not. Arastan enjoyed tormenting his future wife and she secretly enjoyed letting him.

"Don't be jealous because Fane likes me more," she said as Arastan's arms wrapped around her. She smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Why did you think that would end well?" Taliyah asked with a wide smile. All the worries from earlier were forgotten.

Arastan Aellevanda

"Oh, I don't know. I did raise him, so I thought that might count for something."

Arastan said dejectedly, but he still had a smile on his face. He pulled his soon-to-be wife in a tight hug and spun her around.

"Maybe I'll lessen his food and watch him come whining back to me." He decided with an evil laugh. Of course, he knew that he would never do that. He could never be mean to Fane.

Taliyah

Taliyah laughed as they spun.

"I would just feed him," she commented right before her foot slipped on the water.

SPLAT!

She fell when she slipped on the wet floor. Arastan may have been safe if he did not have his arms so tightly around her. Her butt hit the floor right before her back did.

OOF!

Arastan Aellevanda

Arastan fell with her and was quick to cup her head to make sure she did not get to hurt. He hovered above her, managing not to crash his full weight onto her.

"Whoops, sorry about that. I should probably clean this place up...I don't think Fane is coming back for the bath."

Arastan got up and then offered his hand out to her, lifting her up if she took it.

"So, do you just want to relax tonight, or do you have something else we need to talk about?"

Taliyah

Taliyah was laughing as Arastan helped her up. She kissed him softly on his lips and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"How irritated do you want to be tonight, my love?"

Her face was pure innocence as she asked the question.

"Cause your mother wants us to set a date and start on the guest list before she adds her list to it..."

Taliyah had vowed to torment Arastan through this process as much as she possibly could. It was all out of love, of course.

Arastan Aellevanda

Oh, why couldn't they just keep kissing and avoid all the negative duties like the planning? Nothing good had ever come from planning.

"What? I don't care. Just pick a date...Do we have anyone we actually want to invite? It's not like either of us socializes a lot."

He explained with a shrug. Most of their associates were in the castle already, so it was already a given they would be there, but sadly they would probably be working the wedding.

"Oh, I suppose Emra and Myra would be people to invite and...Jacobus. There done."

Taliyah probably didn't know Jacobus, but he was a human that wondered the surrounded woodlands as a hermit. He had gotten to know him when he was younger. If they could find him, then he would definitely be invited.

Taliyah

Taliyah flinched slightly at his words. He was right, they did not socialize a lot but that was not what caused the flinch. No, she had no family and no friends. She had no one to invite. Not a single person. That was depressing.

She heard the rest of his words vaguely. She did not process them though. Taliyah pulled away from him and just shook her head.

"I don't have anyone, Arastan..."

A few tears ran down her cheek.

Arastan Aellevanda

Arastan saw the flinch and if it was possible he felt a crack appear in his heart. Just the tiny bit of movement had been enough to cause him so much pain. His face twisted into a sorrowful expression immediately wanted to apologize, but then she pulled away.

He quickly stepped back in front of her and took his hands to hold her face and look her straight in the eyes. He put on a light, but warm smile.

"Hey, I'm sorry to bring that up like that, but I did not mean it like that. All that matters is that you have me and I have you. Not a single other person could show up at this wedding and I would not care. It's just you and me, ok. That's all that matters."

He pulled her into a hug.

Taliyah

Taliyah wrapped her arms around Arastan as she continued to cry quietly into her bare shoulder.

"I know it is, but it has just hit me that I have no parents, no siblings, no friends...it is really depressing."

Taliyah pulled back from his chest but left her arms around him. She looked up and studied his face.

"I only have your parents and your mother hates me," she half cried, half laughed the last part.

Arastan Aellevanda

One day Arastan was really going to have to fix that relationship. He was still hoping on the fact that after the wedding was done, that hate would become more of a loathe since she could not so easily get rid of Taliyah.

At least his dad liked her, although his idea of liking people tended to only be a small head nod or some grandiose speech about something, there was no in-between.

An idea passed over Arastan has his eyes got a bit bigger at the thought before looking back to Taliyah.

"Well, what if we tried to find some. I'm sure the scholars might have some magic to track down someone of blood relations. If you want."

Taliyah

Taliyah looked up at him and opened her mouth to say something but then shut it. She narrowed her eyes as if his suggestion was having issues processing in her mind. Her mouth opened again before turning into a smile.

"Yes...yes that is something I would want, Aran!" She leaned up and kissed him softly.

The suggestion terrified her but she had always wondered and she finally had the means to find answers. She loved this man more and more every day.

"Do you think your mother would murder us if we started right away?"
