The Nazatari Arena used to be the pride and joy of the Vanguard of Valenntenia. Whereas The Guardians often stole the spotlight in the public eye, the amazing displays put forth within the Arena by the strongest and wisest of the Vanguard never failed to draw the eyes of all Valenntenia's people, even bringing in spectators from the surrounding lands and beyond. After an unfortunate incident that resulted in the use of incendiary magic in the presence of more than one barrel of alcohol being banned, the Nazatari Arena fell into disrepair and was scarcely used.
Until now!
Repairs on the arena have finally been completed, and in celebration, the city has announced a grand, once-in-a-lifetime event, with a reward unprecedented and unmatched by any amount of gold. The Guardian’s Gauntlet will be open to any Guardian, Vanguard, Descendant, and even select outsiders! Any number of participants may enter, but only one will emerge victorious.
The reward for this spectacle? An opportunity to invoke the forbidden Sixteenth Runestone, the Stone of Life and Death. This powerful artifact is rumored to have the ability to manipulate the forces of life itself.

The rules are as follows

• The Absalon stands on a high platform suspended above the arena, with the Stone of Life and Death in his possession. The ultimate objective of the Gauntlet is to be the one who knocks him from his platform and seizes the Runestone.

• One cannot simply attack the Absalon immediately. A pillar in the center of the arena holds a receptacle for small round spheres. Placing these spheres into the pillar will slowly lower the platform, and when it reaches the ground, the Absalon may be engaged.

• Each participant starts with one sphere in their possession. Additional spheres can be stolen from other participants, found hidden throughout the Arena, or earned by disabling traps and hazards.

• A participant with no spheres is eliminated from the Gauntlet.

• There are many traps and challenges scoured across the Arena. Some of these are dangerous hazards, some are puzzles to be solved, and some must even be completed in tandem with another participant. Defeating these challenges awards additional Spheres, failing them will leave you vulnerable to attack.

• Use of magic, runestones, and non-lethal weaponry is permitted, but no killing is allowed.

• When enough spheres have accumulated in the center pillar, anybody may engage the Absalon, not only the person who collected the most spheres. This means one can feasibly win with only one sphere if they are wily enough.

Do you have what it takes to outmatch, outsmart, and outwit the rest for a chance to wield life and death? The Gauntlet awaits your challenge!

OOC

This thread will be centered around The Guardians of The Rune, but will be open to some others as well. I'll be helping guide things along in terms of obstacles and setting so it doesn't get too terribly confusing. The nature of this being a large contest should hopefully mean people can drop out without it holding up the thread and preventing it from moving forward. If there are any questions about the rules, or if you have any ideas for additions to the contest, feel free to suggest them below, I'm open to incorporating more ideas. In addition, if you have a character you'd like to incorporate and aren't sure how to go about doing so, I'd be willing to help there as well.

Should have it up by tomorrow morning, hope to have some fun!
