Jorg was an important distraction. He was the only reason she was still in a position to be of any use. If that creature had any sort of focus on her, she was finished. In that regard she was fortunate that all involved were keenly aware of this.
That was both a disadvantage and advantage rolled into one. To her advantage that took the vampire's attention away from her, being the much lesser threat. The acidic vials were painful, no denying that, but Jorg was the one who could actually harm it.
So in the moment, where it paid no mind to Gabby drawing her blade in her approach she had an opportunity to end its unnatural life for good. It declared Jorg's death with a thunderous bellow while sickly, dark blood spattered the floor after each step.
Within arms reach Gabby lunged forward to stab the creature through the back and pierce the heart. It must have heard her, sensed her, or felt her, for in the moment before she plunged the steel through flesh it turned, grabbing her by the throat and immediately closing her airway while also lifting her several inches clear of the floor. Sharp claws dug into her neck, breaking the skin as several small beads of blood began to roll down towards her collarbone.
Feet kicked and flailed, her free hand swatted and grasped at her foe. It looked at her with miserable hatred and condescension as she struggled to find oxygen while the grip became ever tighter by the second. In a desperate moment, though she could not reach the heart, she plunged the dagger into the neck of the vampire and dragged it downward to open a large, gaping wound. Immediately it flung her away with a sickening screech, as if weightless, across the room and against one of the tables.
