Private Tales Breaking And Entering

A private roleplay only for those invited by the first writer
A wave of relief washed over Vale at the confirmation that the ring he had been searching for was right in front of him. The endless nights of searching were over and a fire ignited inside him at the thought of having it in his hands. Vale's face remained passive as ever to counter what was inside him and he returned his gaze to the drow. A tug to argue came to him but he held his tongue, "Of course, everything always rightfully belongs to someone."

The Dreadlord took a few steps toward the camp until he came to a stop. He thought to himself for a moment before finally turning around to face her once more. "While it belongs to your people, I have quite a need for it. So to remedy the ring not returning to you, how about a trade?" What he was about to offer would be considered treason if he was ever caught. Thankfully, he was quite good at remaining unseen.

"An artifact that would double... triple the amount of worth your little trip to Vel-Anir would have made." At least for her. To be quite honest, it was rather priceless to mages like them. "Of course, I'll need your help to retrieve it but in return, you'll receive The Shattered Eye." If she didn't know what it was by name, then he would explain it's properties to her but to most wielders of magic, the item was of the utmost renown for its capabilities as a conduit for magic.

Her eyes widened at his words. She had thought the Shattered Eye to be nothing more than legend, and she had broken into Vel Anir simply to see if the rumors were true. Vyx eyed him suspiciously for a moment.

“You know its location?” She asked flatly, not entirely convinced. Before she could agree or disagree, there was a loud bang from the camp. It sounded like a firecracker going off, and she knew right then that their target knew he was under attack.

Vyx had no time to continue the dialogue and she rushed into the fray. The hired mercenaries drew out their weapons to engage the drow soldiers. Her soldiers remained in the shadows as arrows whizzed out of nowhere to plant into the necks of several mercenaries.

Vyx could spot the target up ahead, and he swiftly attempted to hop onto a horse and escape. She quickly drew out her bow and fired a single arrow directly at his foot as he lifted it to put on the stirrup. The man howled in pain as the arrow found purchase.

The drow quickly whirled around and unleashed a spiral of flames directly at Vyx. The range was wide enough to also capture Vale in it if he didn’t move.

The reaction on her face meant that she surely knew what the Shattered Eye was. It was clear she didn't believe him and he could see it in her eyes. When she asked if he knew of it's location, Vale nodded, "Of course I do." But before the two of them could continue this conversation any further, the sound of battle erupted and Vyx was already gone and rushing toward it and her fellow soldiers.

The mercenaries charged forward until arrows started to pierce their flesh. They set up a shield wall in order to have them deflect off their shield with the ones who hadn't already been killed. The drow that was the target for the both of them now, he unleashed a colum of fire upon the two and as Vyx dodged out the way, so did Vale as he used the shadows to assist his movements. The Dreadlord glanced between the drow and then Vyx before giving her a nonchalant salute and stepping into and disappearing into the shadows as she would see movement in the dark that was unnatural and most likely him.

The mercanies that had formed the shield wall had lifted up their cover and started to advance toward the trees, the arrows continuing to sink in the shields or bounce off. When they were about 50 to 40 feet away from the treeline, they all broke apart before rushing into the forest and after the drow that were nestled throughout it.
