LFG A Stranger from the West

Hello, once again. This time I thought I might try something a little different for an RP. While my last one was focused far more on combat and epic fantasy, this one will be much lower stakes and is more of a journey of personal growth for one of my toons, Max.

In this one, he has taken a temporary leave of absence from fighting monsters and has come to his homeland, Ragash in Amol-Kalit from a letter he received from someone who claims to be his father. Only thing is, Max was an orphan raised in the Madrassa of War, thus he never knew of his parentage. To see if there's any truth to it, he will go about and uncover a... shall we say conspiracy in the city.

-Interactions: By all means, please, feel free to add whatever you like. I'm very big on improv and I enjoy a good swashbuckling as much as the next guy (and I do) but again, this one is just a bit more on focusing on Max learning about himself. There will be a brawl or a hard-scrap to finish it off, to be sure, but any plotlines you have in mind are more than welcome, provided they are likewise about character development.

My only request is that there be no one-liners and no single bits of description.

I might have a few support type characters! Maybe a few with goals of their own that might coincide with the goals of Maximus.

I do have a few characters who would have sufficient reason to find themselves in Amol-Kalit for whatever reason. Whether or not they'd be a good fit for this I cannot say until I have a better idea of what sort of personal growth you'd like for your character to go through.

Off the top of my head, I've got:
Sarah Barthom. A gifted priestess of the Celestialist religion.
Selina Della Altas. A magic savant constantly searching for new and ancient arcana.
Kalia Oro Khastan. A "larger than life" well-traveled and heroic adventurer!

If you'd like, you can check out my "About" section and see my full list of characters.
If any of these seem like a good fit, let's discuss here or in DMs!

I thank you for the reply. Simply put, Max is a bit of a hothead and he's very eager to find his place in the world. What I intend for him to undergo is seeing both the good and the ugly side of humanity. Since he left his homeland early for Alliria, he's a tad bit unfamiliar with it and so he'll be surprised the people there aren't like they are in the city of wealth.

Since this is (just a little bit) less focused on combat, I think it'll revolve around him interacting with the various people in the city and sort-of getting used to seeing things are different in other parts of the world.

Does that make sense?

Yeah, that makes sense!

So, he's experiencing culture shock returning home after being away most of his life.
He's received a message that "allegedly" came from his father summoning him back for undisclosed reasons which throws us into the thick of the plot!
He's trying to investigate the message while also navigating an unfamiliar city.

Kalia Oro Khastan would make a good guide and ally, he might even be able to help with the investigation!
Kiileet Glassdancer is a circus ringmaster who might also be familiar with the city, and its skills in subterfuge might be of use.

As a monster hunter and Freedom Fighter, it might be fair to assume he's made a few enemies, correct?
I do have a few criminal OC's that might have followed him to Ragash on orders to take him out!
Max Kouser. A syndicate troubleshooter.
Christian Vide. An infamous rogue assassin.

You're very clever. And yes, you are right. Max has made many enemies.

Well, I think the blueprints for this thread are well understood. Now it's just a matter of getting it posted. I will do so either later today or tomorrow.

Please, feel free to use whatever toon you wish. I think perhaps your character, Kalia Oro Khastan might do well to offer perspective, especially because Max doesn't quite understand the complexities of being a King, least of all one in a land as harsh as a desert.

Looking forward to it!
