Skills and Abilities
Novice College Magic: Though possessed of the gift of magic, Suleiman is very much a learner, a novice of skill, and as yet has not found a particular specialty or aptitude. Time will tell.
Minor Swordfighting: Pushed mainly by his father into swordsmanship (for mastering the elegance of the shamshir ought be part of any Maraani Mirza's body of skills), Suleiman has some limited knowledge of the curved sword.
Personality and Characteristics
Major
* Unserious, happy-to-lucky, careless, laissez-faire. Suleiman enjoyed the easy living of his wealthy Mirza upbringing, and it is reflected in his general attitude.
* Unused to responsibility, and has a tendency to procrastinate on or shirk duties, especially if they seem "minor" or "unimportant" to him.
* Likes to hear people laugh and to be the center of attention. Can be a mischief maker, though he doesn't have criminal leanings. Decent heart, and polite when he needs to be.
* Improviser, and generally prefers to "wing it" instead of devising and sticking to a solid plan.
* Not particularly brave, though perhaps one day he could be.
Minor
+ Interested in the world outside of Maraan and the Amol-Kalit desert. Particularly fascinated by stories of the most remote cultures, those of Tyr or Nordengaard to the far east.
+ Enamored by elves, and a bit envious of the long lives they lead. Also, owing to his Maraani heritage, generally suspicious of orcs.
+ Afraid of heights.
+ Doesn't like silence. Nervous in a quiet room. Will strike up conversation for some liveliness.
+ Loves spirits, now that he is of age to drink.
+ Likes comedic plays and stories, and fancies being something of a performer himself.
Biography and Lore
Clan Askari is one of the largest in Maraan, and are purveyors of fine jewels and jewelry, these being foremost among their trades.
Though Suleiman paid little mind to this grand inheritance of his family name. Indeed, even as the eldest of two brothers, he hardly set a good example for his siblings, and oftentimes encouraged them to trouble and mischief along with himself. He met the expectations of his father and his mother only as much as he needed to, and preferred his own leisurely pursuits rather than learning how to take up the mantle of the Askari name.
His plan, his dream, was to go on a journey about Arethil once he came of age, using the fortune of Clan Askari to travel and experience the world. But, as though Naspar of the Six himself intervened, Suleiman—only months from his seventeenth nameday—was found to have the gift of magic; such had not happened for any of the Askari clan for over a hundred years. Elation poured forth from his father and mother. But Suleiman? Anxious. Nervous. Wary of the great expectation now firmly placed upon him, the burden that came with the honor. But, however reluctantly at first, Suleiman at the behest of his father and mother agreed to be enrolled into the College of Elbion, and thereby doing Clan Askari proud.
Can Suleiman at last learn to take upon himself the responsibility of Clan and homeland, and live up to the rare gift given him?
