Completed Wormhole to Hell

"We just need to... find where we are first. So let's do that."

Diablo nodded in agreement as he stood up and glanced around the large space, a few barrels littered the room in various spots and Diablo watched as Serene made her way to one of the barrels. Shrugging Diablo walked over to another barrel on the other side of the room to see what he could find.

Slowly he opened his barrel and noticed it was filled with an assortment of cooking tools, with a little hope, Diablo began quietly digging for some sort of pot to cook in. After a few moments Diablo froze as the smell of moist iron invaded his senses. looking up from his search he glanced over to Serene, whom looked visibly sick

"...It's fresh."

Slowly he placed the lid back on the barrel and crossed the room to Serene and lifted the barrel lid. She was definitely right about it being fresh, Diablo had grimaced at the sight and looked away for a brief moment. It was mostly blood, but objects could be made out in the dark crimson, not that he wanted to truly see what or whom was in there. Closing the lid he shook his head and moved away from the barrel "Try looking in a different barrel I guess." Diablo had spoken softly as he shrugged at Serene and returned to his own barrel.

Shortly after, Diablo had produced a small pot from the barrel and placed it on the nearest table to him. Finished he then softly placed the lid back down and opened the barrel next to it. Empty, damnit he thought. "Well we have a pot lass, its a start."

Setting aside that pot, Diablo walked to the center of the room, while the bones in his hand formed to a needle, he would carefully carve an X into the floor "This is how we can keep track of the rooms we've been in, its not great mind you, but it should work until we find some parchment." Diablo stated flatly and turned his gaze to Serene

Serene kept herself on the side for a couple of minutes, only pointing out for any potential loot they could gather as she cleared her nostrils from the iron smell. Perks of being of the elf kin, a grossly sensitive nose up close.

"Hah..." she let out as something clicked. "The barrel was filled just recently..."

Quickly she turned to the stove chimney, wet and unused. The entire place was just like the rooms and hallways of before, Serene twirled around as if looking for anything that was old and dusty, yet nothing was.

"This place is useless, you can't do anything but store things here." she chuckled with a shrug, her arms at the height of her neck, wanting Diablo's attention to their general surroundings rather than the supplies.

"So where are they?"

Serene added one last time before letting her arms flop back down, her eyes turning to her hands, dry blood and accumulated dirt covered her skin and nails. Remeniscing a painful memory, she frowned and clenched her fists, putting her attention back to her companion instead.

Diablo had given her a small bone knife made of his body, she quickly picked it up from the bench and used it to tear her clothes up to her knees, her stomach growling of hunger as she finished. "We need to find them, maybe they have supplies"

"So where are they?"

The same fucking question Diablo thought.

As he stopped his search amongst the barrels, he'd quickly he crossed the room and grab Serene by the shoulders, locking eye's with her as he done so "There is no one else lass, no one." He cleared his throat and took a deep breath before his temper would get the best of him "We need to focus on us, whom ARE alive. No one else survived that fall. No one."

His piercing violet eyes narrowed as he spoke flatly to her, he was being harsh that much he knew, but Diablo needed her to understand that searching for dead bodies would prove to be fatal to them, survival was the only option in order to stay alive "We have spent to much time here already, we need to move again." Letting her go he crossed the room to the door at the north wall and slowly opened it a crack.

Quietly he glanced back and forth. Noticing the coast was clear he stepped out and looked to his left and decided on it "Come on Serene, we have to keep moving." With that he began slowly walking west down the hall.

Just as he called out to her she was done ripping her skirt wide open and tearing her corset off her. It had cost a hefty sum to look presentable for the mercs for whatever they wished for, and now she had done off those garments in hopes of surviving this place.

Then she quickly followed suit, her leg no longer bothering her as much as before as she had done a small bandage of her torn clothes, putting pressure on her muscle and therefore allowing her to better keep up with his pace.

Unsurprisingly the walk was uneventful and quiet, there were no words to speak between the two as each had different things in mind. Soon they turned to the greater room, twice the size of the one before, it had nothing in particular except for signs of a battle happening long prior.

Debris of pillars and furniture alike paved the story this room once had. Torches once illuminating the place had crumbled to their basic components, pieces of weaponry of all kinds had been swallowed by the environment around them, rusting them all away. The one thing that could stand out of the room was a single chair, a skeleton decorating it with the portrait of a woman torn apart behind it.

Serene walked past the debris, careful not to tear her naked feet as any injury could be fatal in this critical moment. She was poking around the skeleton by now, looking for any garment she might still make use of, unfortunately the garments it wore had been decomposed by the natural environment, rendering everything it had useless to her.

She clicked her tongue and left the skeleton be.

"There isn't much we can do here... What else?"

Diablo had made a quick glance around the room, it seemed to be a throne room of sorts, but it had long since been deserted, ruined columns and tattered banners of long forgotten times, it was easy to see that the inhabitants of this place would have been high society. But regardless they were dead and long forgotten.

Diablo would search around for anything of use, while he quietly watched Serene wander off towards the throne. After a brief moment of looking around his ears perked as Serene had spoken.
"There isn't much we can do here... What else?"

Diablo shrugged, running a hand through his hair absentmindedly as he thought of what to do next. "Well we need to get out of this hell hole. That's our priority." Diablo turned to Serene before continuing "But we can keep our eyes peeled for anything that can be useful to us."

Diablo paused for a moment, scratching and giggling noises were coming from the door that the pair had come through, unnerved by the sounds Diablo had taken a few steps towards the south door "We best take our leave, while we still have the chance. Sticking around here could prove fatal"

He had spoken in a hushed tone as he quietly eased the door open, taking a quick glance ahead to the sight of nothing. A quick sigh of relief escaped Diablos lips as he stepped out "Come on Serene, best we not dawdle here."

With that he set off, while he walked the bones in his arms had protruded out in the shape of a katar, a ten inch, double edged blade. He had hoped that they wouldn't run into anymore problems, but it was better to be safe rather than sorry.

Serene follows.

The path breaks into three more corridors, all connected through a single passageway that split into their respective sides. One was right ahead of them, it was but a ruined path that had crumbled in its own weight, blocking the way forward.

Serene's naked feet gently stepped around the puddles of water, wanting to avoid as much noise as possible, the cackle of the white monster just faintly echoing across the walls. She shivered but continued her steps to the next set of corridors, one side turned into a complete set of darkness where no light seemed to reflect it, even as water seemed to drip from its wall like the rest of them.

Despite her kin's attributes, it was impossible for her to see beyond a few feet.

She turned her eyes then to the last possible choice, where the door had been cracked open from its frame, allowing them to see what was hidden in its room.

Light.

Untold amounts of it, flashing through and reflecting into the walls, lighting an entire stairway to its source. Serene swallowed harshly, her throat already dry from thirst, having rejected the idea of drinking the water from within the dungeon. She was hopeful, but not a fool.

"Diablo..." she muttered under her breath as she walked into the room, stepping around the wood debris left by the strange break-in until her feet and legs were gently sparkling under the sunlight.

Serene tucked her fingers in in satisfaction, and it showed as her teeth bit her lower lip with a wicked grin across her face, it felt too good to be in the sunlight again, even if only in this amount without getting too close in to the stairway.

Sadly, her prediction was correct, and once the quiet had settled in her head, she picked up a noise coming from another entryway to her right, then one from her left. Her skin crawled as the noise came from multiple creatures and grew stronger and stronger in her head as her panick increased.

Diablo had followed Serene quietly as she carefully made her way past the rubble and debris, Diablo had been taking note of the few directions that were available to them, the one route being impassible namely because of the rubble blocking their way, the other route, being much too dark even for his keen eye which made Diablo furrow his brow in confusion, maybe a magic source he thought.

Finally, he had watched as Serene walked towards an open door south of the last room they were in, the last direction they had yet to check, once Diablo had followed Serene inside, he could see that the sunlight was peering in from a portion of the ceiling that had collapsed high above, the sun laying its gentle embrace upon anything it could reach. Diablo glanced around, the room had a few staircases leading up and possibly out of this nightmare, which gave him some hope, regardless of how small it was.

"Diablo..."

Diablo had turned his gaze towards Serene, immediately dumbfounded as he watched on. A beautiful smile had slowly grown upon her face as the sunlight slowly, softly, caressed her bare skin. As it done so, it was almost as if she was a radiant star, a beaming brilliance standing before him. Diablo had no real experience with the fairer sex, he was able to talk and joke and the like, and yet, he had never met someone as alluring as her.

"Serene, you look stun-" Diablo's sentence had been cut short as his ears picked up on the sounds of multiple monsters, but something was different this time, he was positive that these sounds were not from the white monster that they have been running from, no, these were guttural noises and grunts, almost like a language, yet long forgotten in the passage of time.

Diablo was beginning to panic as the noises grew louder and closer to them. Quickly he glance around, and yet there was nothing for them to use as cover, they were out in the open and Diablo knew it "Fuck! Serene get over here!" He called to her as his bone in his arms produced a blade on his left arm and shield on his right. Slowly he crouched and waited for whatever was coming for them.

Twenty nine, thirty, the number of pair of steps increased, whatever they were Serene didn't stay in the sunlight to find out first hand, her feet quickly taking her to where Diablo was, but rather than waiting out with him she took his forearm and dragged him out of the room with her and into the darkness they had found in the corridor before.

Serene thought it twice, the sheer aura of the place felt like a death trap to any who'd come close, but the creatures were coming closer, there was nothing else they could do beyond going back to the white monster, but that was beyond stupid to even consider.

Taking the first step into what seemed a must that formed the void that consumed the corridor, Serene pulled Diablo along with her for a few more meters, up until the point her legs started to tremble and every fiber of her being refused to take a single more step.

It felt wrong being surrounded in the black mist, and it showed as no matter how much sound she was starting to make, nothing seemed to come out of her mouth. Her breathing had turned into a struggle, oxygen wouldn't seem to fill her lungs as though the mist was consuming her from the inside.

Or at least, that's how she viewed it.

The creatures quickly started to spread around, searching for the smell they had sensed close to the stairway and even though Serene and Diablo were still at a visible sight, the creatures seemingly ignored the corridor they were now in as though it did not exist.

Diablo had been caught by surprise as Serene had taken him by the arm and lead them away for the multiple bodies filling the room and quickly racing back towards the dark corridor, the strange, dark, corridor Diablo thought. Diablo quickly followed in suite, but the further they ventured into the darkness the more Diablo felt unnerved, something about this darkness was disorientating, dangerous even "Hey Serene.. I don't think we should be here.."

His words felt strange as Diablo spoke, like that of a spooked child, the darkness invaded his mind, hallucinations playing within the darkness, playing tricks, his jaw slowly going slack at the sight playing before him. Slowly Diablo glanced down, seeing his legs beginning to shake and soon after, buckling, if it wasn't for Serene's tight grip on his arm, Diablo would have surly fallen.

Slowly Diablo stumbled closer to Serene, barely able to make out her face as he took her hand, slowly Diablo brought her back, closer to the edge of this unbearable darkness, yet, the longer they stayed in it, the harder it became, almost like the darkness was dragging him down by an incredible force. Diablo gritted his teeth, fighting to brace himself up, all the while straining his keen hearing for the new creatures that were perusing them. The loud sounds of footfalls racing around all the while, loud and indescribable speech had filled the once empty corridor's.

As his mind became more hazy, more foggy, Diablo tripped hard over what felt like rubble, not that he could have seen it with that darkness only giving him faded images for his eyes to see. Bringing up his free hand Diablo closed his eyes and braced for impact as he fell hard, but felt clear? Opening his eyes he realized that his head was poking out of the darkness into the corridor.

Luck would be on his side, as he noticed that the corridor was clear as he spotted clear tracks leading away from their position. Quickly he dragged Serene through the darkness and past a few paces before letting her go and plopping onto the ground, feeling an exhaustion washing over him. He'd lean his head against the wall as his bones retreated back into his arms "We got through lass... Just barely.." With that Diablo closed his eyes to rest a moment.

Serene was in a trance once more, this time of untold fear. Fear of not dying but of living one more moment inside that mist, it had turned her feet into stone and it was only thanks to Diablo that had pulled her off it that she was able to even escape.

But time felt different, as if a much longer time had passed for her. She stumbled to her knees and gasped for breath, having a hard time to its rhythm as she choked up on her own throat multiple times.

She was thankful to be out, her hands stretching out and then folding back in into fists, feeling the texture of the still humid floor. Getting on her feet she quickly pulled Diablo back into his and made him walk alongside her, not wanting to wait until the creatures would sniff them out once again.

"We cannot stay here, we need..." she was exhausted beyond of what she had ever been, the ordeals of her body finally catching up to her as she started to limp on her leg as she reached the stairway to the light, still shining bright above what seemed to be the exit of the dreaded place.

Taking the first step is always the most difficult, but having to endure ordeals as those before would be the death of her, she was no warrior as much as she was willing to survive. She took the second step then, dragging Diablo along her as to help one another to avoid falling back into the dark. Slowly they climbed up multiple steps for what felt like an eternity, Serene's feet aching and bleeding as they had to step on rough, sharp rock that composed the stairway, but she's had enough.

It was soon after that they managed to see the sky in all its glory, the pasture of before and the forest that seemed to cover this exit to the dungeon. A large rock composed its frame, nature already having claimed the stillness around it, making the exit almost invisble to the naked eye if not for the large crevis that made the first step inwards.

Serene finally let go of Diablo's arm and breathed in, the air much different to the one inside the dungeon. She let out a cough and then a chuckle, her eyes threatening to cry out as a sense of relief washed over the fear that had consumed her up until that moment.

She took a moment to look at her companion and smiled, walking alongside him away from the dungeon.

"We cannot stay here, we need..."

Diablo could hear Serene, yet his body didn't want to respond, nay, couldn't respond to the call of the woman. Yet he fought the gut retching fear that took hold of him. If he were to succumb to it now would surly be fatal for him. He soon felt Serene pulling him up to his feet before taking him away from the darkness, and ever so slowly the hallucinations faded away, as if it was a horrid dream, a dream that may have well etched its very essence into his mind.

Exhaustion, fear, pain. The lasting remarks of the dungeon left upon Diablo, an everlasting tick. Death had stood watch over him, waiting patiently for him to succumb, yet to his own surprise was no longer nearing his door step. Diablo opened his eyes, blinking to get the clearer image as he was dragged along, back towards the stairs, back towards hope. It was not soon after that he took his first step, feeling life breathing back into his very soul the further they got up the stairs, the further they got away from this hellhole, until finally reaching the exit.

It had felt far too long since the last time the sun had graced him with it's gentle touch, the warmth growing further as more sunlight reached further onto his pale grey skin, an inhale, exhale, the fresh air that danced around them, telling him that they were indeed out of the nightmare that once haunted their steps.

Diablo had slowly clasped Serene's hand, proud of what they survived "We made it Serene.." His violet eyes glanced down towards hers, as a smile grew upon his face, and with that he slowly walked away with Serene, through the lush grass towards freedom.

At long last, freedom! he thought.

Serene doesn't walk for much longer, maybe until the cave is out of sight and the woods start to mix around the route they came from, perpetually making them lose direction. It is until then when she finally starts to wince and stop on her tracks, looking back as her feet have turned small red blood marks on the ground, making a trail.

Watching around she finds enough dirt to get a few handfuls and quickly cover the closest bloodied footsteps to her until they all but dissapear, then drops gently on her knees and watches the injuries on her feet. They're not deep, they're just multiple and practically everywhere she looks, dirt fully covering the widest of the cuts, an annoyance above all.

She breathes in gently and tries to calm down her heartbeat which takes most of her hearing away, trying to focus on her surroundings instead. She manages it after a few minutes and listens intently into the forest. Birds chirp and fly away, hooves that walk gently against the pasture, insects that feast on a nearby dead body somewhere nearby. She shakes her head after a vivid image of the mercenary torn in half enters her minds for a moment.

Finally, she listens at the current of a lake she could have sworn seeing days prior and gleams. She opens her eyes she didn't truly realize she had shut and looks up to Diablo who seemingly watches over her.

"Would you carry me over to where I tell you to? We need to get rid of this trail..." she says almost shyly as she has very rarely asked something from someone in her life.

"Would you carry me over to where I tell you to? We need to get rid of this trail..."

Diablo had nodded and gently scooped Serene up and resumed walking through the forest floor, between the din of the forest and the comforting warmth of the sun, Diablo had felt he could move mountains at this rate, the nightmare that they had retreated from had almost seemed to suck away his life force and since leaving had felt all but tired. It wasn't long, after walking about half an hour. that his ears would perk up to the sound of rushing water, slowly he changed his direction towards the source of the sound.

As he reached the origin of the sound, Diablo would be greeted by a clearing within the forest and a sizable waterfall that stood at the far end of the clearing "I think this is a good spot to stop, don't you think lass?" Diablo had glanced at Serene, giving a little wink, a sly grin while he approached the clearing.

Smiling Diablo walked to the skirt of the waterfall and gently placed Serene on one of the boulders at the waters edge. Slowly Diablo removed his leather boots, placing them on the rocks, "A good wash would do us some good, especially those wounds of yours." Diablo had glanced at Serenes feet, then back to her eyes as he removed his jacket and tunic, placing them on his boots and slowly sliding into the water.

The cool water felt heavenly against his skin as he waded further into the pool. Diablo would close his eyes and allow himself to aimlessly float, the sounds of the waterfall filling his mind, the gentle breeze tickling his face as it blew by, and the water, as if a cool hug had enveloped him. "We should remember this spot lass." Diablo had called out "It's so bloody relaxing." His smile turning to a grin while the refreshing water slowly washed over him.

To say she didn't enjoy the moment the water started to wash away the dirt and blood now covering her feet would be a complete and utter lie, to feel the coolness of the water as it sent shivers down her spines, albeit mixed with pain as her injuries were being reopened after most of the dirt had sucked up enough of her blood to make a small layer for a footing.

She took a few moments to look at her feet on the water, then back at the demon next to her, and from her own point of view, suddenly the world went pink. She looked at the ragged demon, malnourised and yet still well visibly built as he removed his garments. It was only when he revealed his girth that she wide eyed and turned her eyes back to her feet, her smile sheepish as the image of his girth was still fresh in her head while he made his way into the water.

Built to ruin them all, was the best way her mind could describe it despite the circumstances. She chuckled at the pun in her head and tried to keep that smile in as her hands gently traveled along the injuries of her feet. Slowly she rubbed her finger tips on top of them, the dirt prickling as it fell into the bottom of the lake, making her frown in multiple occasions and hold her breath as to dig the deepest of the particles.

If a potion was used on top of all this, it'd simply close the injury on top of the dirt, a major flaw in the miracle design of potion brewing.

Soon she was done, and it was then when Diablo spoke to her once more, clearly enjoying himself as his manhood was up for grabs at this point. She was embarrassed for a moment longer before she finally accepted his relaxed behavior for trust in her presence.

An ache of guilt built up on her as the whole reason he was here was because her contractors had managed to captured him in the first place. She almost wanted to ask him his worth but stopped herself from it. It wasn't her business as he was no prisoner no more, and it was clear she couldn't return home without a single survivor to accompany her either. They'd never believe her story, especially as a dark elf.

Serene's hands gently carried over her garments, they were equally as filthy as her feet, she wanted off them. Slowly she undid the multiple belts holding her outfit together and with her bone knife ripped her corset beneath her clothing, it felt like she was holding her breath this entire time. She took her clothing off albeit a bit more embarrassed than Diablo was before, removing everything but her underwear. She gently placed everything neatly next to her and stood up on her feet, her embarrassment showing as her ears turned a tone of purple as they fell down to her elbows.

Clearly an attitude unbefitting a dark elf. Regardless, she wanted to show him the same amount of trust he had placed in her.

"Hey, Diablo!" she called, waving for him with one arm, the other practically attached to her stomach as to hold back her shy attitude, folding one breast tightly against the other.

Diablo had stood up with the water only reaching to his waist and began cupping handfuls of water and washing off his body, his sore body relaxing in thanks of finally being taken care of, even if it was to a minimal degree. He'd pause only momentarily as his clawed fingers would graze across the scars and disfigurements that covered his body, a different memory to each, a different fight for life each time. His brow would furrow each time he finger traced over each scar, a friendly reminder that he had no place to call home.

He would always have a bounty on his head, and he knew that, he was, after all a demon, and no one cared for his kind, it didn't matter if he liked it or not. The knowledge that he was back to square one had him gritting his teeth in frustration, with most of his belongings had been destroyed in the fall, and his clothes tattered from the nightmare that had befallen them "I really liked that jacket too." He muttered to himself while he continued washing himself.

"Hey, Diablo!"

yanked from his trance, Diablo had turned around to face the now bare Serene whom had given him a wave, while dumb realization had struck him and a sheepish grin had played across his face. He had spent so long without a traveling partner that his actions were almost automatic when it came to bathing, and now stood before her, stark as the day he was born, yet he couldn't help but watch on in admiration.

The sun now dancing off her perfect skin as it caressed across her body, making it seem as if he was standing before a goddess. She is definitely more than meets the eye he thought. Without her dirty maid garments to cover her up, her gorgeous figure showed true. Aside from the similar malnutrition that had afflicted him, her body held to a slender, curved figure that would surly allure any whom would have the honor to see it.

Diablo's gaze would follow the curve of her body and was met by the sizable breasts that adorned her chest, that her arm had tightly latched across keeping them tightly pressed together, accentuating her breasts further. Glancing up, Diablo would recognize her embarrassment and quickly look away to give her some privacy, what little he could give at the very least.

Diablo had quietly cleared his throat as he motioned for her "The water feels great if you wish to step in, Serene.." he wasn't sure what else to say and quickly returned to quietly washing his pale grey body while his ears felt as if they were on fire from the image that now was burned into his mind, shaking his head, he'd turn back around to hide his smile from her.

Serene was almost waiting for permission to enter the water, perhaps already second nature to her as she's always been ordered what to do or when, a shadow she could not quite shake away within a moment's notice.

She watched to the lake after Diablo had turned away from her, she didn't take it as a bad sign as his ears seem to twitch in the same motion as hers. She was glad that was his reaction, she wouldn't know how to react to the lust of other people even when she was offered as a sexual object at some point in her life.

Quickly she shakes her head to remove those memories, there was no place for them. She sat down once more and gently allowed her body to slide into the water. The shiver of the cold lake made her teeth clatter, but she didn't mind it one bit. It felt good to be in water after so many weeks of travel and with no other presence but one demon to accompany her.

She sank her head in for a few seconds, letting her hair soak and wash away the dirt that had accumulated in the time of their travel, then immediately flipping her hair back as she removed her face from the water, gasping in relief as it trailed around her skin.

"What I'd give for some soap right now..." she mutters to herself as she floats in the corners of the lake, gently paddling to Diablo next, one leg more efficient than the other as the scarring was not yet fully developed on her missing chunk of flesh.

There wasn't much to say once she was next to him, there were a load of questions she could have asked him, from his origins to his motives or objectives, or whether he'd continue to accompany her after this bath was done. There was nothing to tie them together anymore.

"Thank you, for saving me back then" she looked down as she tried to come out as brave voice-wise at least, her speech weak in volume as she continued "I honestly wouldn't have made it out without you."

Diablo had glanced over at Serene whom now had taken place at his side, her demeaner had shifted as she stood there however, he had noticed this similar body language in some children that he had come across in his travels, shy and small voiced, not necessarily scared, but nervous.

"Thank you, for saving me back then"
"I honestly wouldn't have made it out without you."

Diablo had grimaced at the thanks he was receiving from Serene, she wouldn't understand the implications that would follow her if the general populace knew that she got help from a demon, let alone a dark elf that got help from a demon "You saved me as well Serene, Don't forget that. But, don't mention it." Diablo paused for a moment while a sigh escaped his lips "At least... not openly" He looked her in the eye, smiled softly, and returned his gaze to his hands.

He didn't want to sound harsh, but as a dark elf, she would have enough problems, let alone add him to the mix. Diablo produced a bone bowl from his hand and scooped water up and drained it on top of his head, the water cascading down his body cooling off his annoyance of being whom he was.

He placed the bowl on the water and wiped his face, letting his right hand stroke his jet black hair back out of his face before returning his gaze back to Serene "I can take you wherever you want to go and afterwards, i'll take my leave."

Diablo shrugged and glanced around for a time before speaking again "It will be safer for you in the long run." Diablo had sighed and turned, starting back for the edge of the pool.

Though she understood his words to the letter, perhaps not his motives, it still hurt to hear him she'll leave her at a destination and be on his way.

"Alright" the word came out choked down her throat. She knew this, of course. No ties left meant their lives must continue separately, it didn't stop her from looking down and steal glances as he returned to the surface, her temporary companion.

Serene didn't follow, his words sinking deep into her mind, she turned around and paddled back to the opposite side of the lake, carrying her body weight weakly back onto the surface, just a few meters from where their clothing and her weapon resided.

She didn't dare look up to him for a few long minutes.

The place was quiet, and now not even birds sprang into a song as they did a while ago, but something else was amiss.

It got too quiet.

Serene's ears twitched as the creak of some nearby trees shook her from her thoughts, then the sound of tree bark snapping from its base made her quickly remove her legs from the water and crouch on her healthy foot, some pain still coming from its injuries. She stole a glance to the bone knife she had left not too far from where she laid, but decided to wait instead.

Her eyes were surprisingly focused as her mind was begging for it to be a wild animal rather than the dwellers of the dungeon, she watched the trees rustling and shaking, leaves falling in multiple quantities as the sound continued to get closer and closer.

And then it stopped, Serene didn't move from where she was, her breathing shaky and uneven as she was battling her need to run from danger or to call out to Diablo who was too far from her right now.

She waited a while longer until nothing else seem to happen, she was confused and started to think it was all her imagination. She gently stood back on her feet and looked at the forest for a bit more before finally turning her head towards Diablo, shrugging in total loss.

Then it came.

In his somber mood, Diablo had quickly got his clothes back on and sat, waiting for Serene to come back when a plethora of violent cracking and crushing sounds echoed across the forest floor. Alarmed Diablo shot up and scanned the area around them. No one was around, nor anything out of place. Yet the feeling of immense fear was building up inside of him.

Diablos brow furrowed as his violet eyes searched for as far as he could see "But how.." He asked no one in particular.

Then all hell broke loose. The ground beneath them had shattered in what seemed to be a million pieces and immediately collapsed leaving a gaping hole in its wake, Diablo jumped and grasped at some loose roots sticking out from the earth in hopes to lift himself up, but to no avail as the roots soon ripped out, making him lose his footing and once again diablo had begun plummeting towards the darkness.

It had seemed forever that he fell for until he noticed the stone flooring at the bottom, and soon after, all went dark.

Rousing from unconsciousness Diablo would blink and realize he cant move, glancing down he would see that a stone spike had pierced through his stomach, keeping him in place. Howling in pain Diablo began huffing haggardly as he was losing an insane amount of blood. "SERENE WHERE ARE YOU!?" He screamed, half in fear, half in panic. While he screamed however, it had taken what little strength Diablo had left and he quickly fell unconscious from the lack of blood.

She didn't wake up, so much as she was being dragged to the darkness that consumed the now drained lake. In between glimpses she managed to see a white hand dragging her by her neck with little disregard to her life, she passed out from the strain on her neck moments later.

The next time she'd wake up would be when the overwhelming smell of iron made her choke up and cough, her body drenched into a pool of blood as her surroundings had turned into a pit of red and stench. She got on her knees, keeping her head down as to try to process the smell, too powerful for her senses to get used to.

She soon threw up what little her stomach had left of food, and as she finished she finally looked up to her surroundings. The sight of mutilated corpses of humans and demi humans alike made her dizzy and drop her head down again, only to see the blood was composed of veins and coagulated blood, her body immediately trying to push her stomach into throwing up, only coughs coming out this time as nothing remained inside her.

She hyperventilated as she tried not to scream and finally dared to look around, the scenery not changing in the slightest no matter where she stared, until finally her eyes adapted to the darkness, allowing her to see through the entire room, and to the body of Diablo with a full hole in his stomach.

Any heat she had faded away at the sight, threatening to pass out as her body wobbled to the side, only soaking her further with the room's veins. She was about to scream and wail until a small twitch of his ears caught her eye.

"D-Diablo... Diablo!" She whimpered as she crawled until she was next to him, her hand shaking around as she tried to process how he was alive despite the hole in his body.

His blood was mixing up with the surroundings, his body slowly being claimed by the veins that made the floor of this room. She quickly ripped them off his naked skin and dragged his body along to a corner, unfortunately there was no place free from decomposing bodies or half eaten corpses, some which were still twitching with life. It drove her insane as she looked around, looking for anything that could help.

The body of the mercenary they had lost earlier caught her attention, multiple limbs already eaten down to the bone, his head missing large chunks of its cheeks and both eyeballs entirely.

She gulped down the need to throw up once more and decided to focus on the lower side of his body where a belt with multiple pouches was still attached.

Serene took a glance to Diablo and reminisced for a moment, her blood soaked hand gently caressing his face. He twitched and she sighed in relief, then steeled herself to leave him where he laid and started to crawl to the mercenary's body.

As she reached the corpse, the belt appeared to be soaked in blood, fortunately the material made the stains superficial, keeping the pouches dry and clean.

She looked to her bloodied hands and breathed in, she had to dry them out or she'd stain the contents. She looked at her body, the front still untouched by the room's blood, then quickly splattered her hands all over it until they were moderately clean. She breathed out and then slowly, hands still shaking, opened the corpse's pouches, looking for anything that might help them.

There was little luck with most of them, most just useless junk or the remains of spoiled food. All but one was useful, she found a small healing scroll. Serene gleamed at her findings, but then had conflicting thoughts. She looked at her own wounds, then at Diablo's, the thought of using this scroll on herself even to give her a small edge to survive this invaded her mind.

Her hands moved by themselves, rolling the scroll open, ready for her to release the enchantment. She lost her voice then as she stumbled in its words, unable to say them out front. Her hands shaked and her eyes kept looking at Diablo and at the scroll over and over, until finally she rolled it shut once more.

Serene closed her eyes in frustration and breathed heavily as she came to terms with her decision. She slowly stumbled back to where Diablo rested, still clinging for dear life.

"Okay... Okay" she muttered to herself as she rolled the scroll open once more and slowly chanted the words to release the spell, her hand on top of the hole in his body. Quickly the spell started to take effect as she felt the missing organs of her companion started to form once more from the blood that surrounded them, a mixture of species compiling it all.

The spell's strength was only equivalent to the user's magical prowess, Serene was thankful of her race's natural attributes as she started to go pale from exhaustion, but it was almost over.

The last of his flesh was sewing up his injury, turning into a grotesque looking scar she sure wanted to make dissapear.

Before she could finish however, a powerful thrust sent her flying from her left way over to the other side of the room, falling on top of multiple corpses. Her bones cracked, she felt her arm bent the opposite side and an extreme difficulty to even breathe, her lung most likely collapsing from trauma.

The position she had fell in allowed her to look at the white monster cackling to itself as it swinged its arm in repetition of its previous action as if amused, a small seed of hatred was planted at the back of her head.

The white monster then stopped and looked at her direction, mouths and teeth instead of eyes yet it seemed to know where she was.

She wanted to run away or hide, even so much as scream at the top of her lungs. All she managed was cough and breathe frantically as the white monster got closer mockingly slow, its crooked hands showing off their claws as they rested on top of her crushed side. Serene shook her head with a sob as the creature's head laid on top of her, its multiple mouths taking the first chunk of flesh they came in contact with, tearing her skin apart around her ribcage.

It was only then that she managed to scream of the agonizing pain as it started to eat her alive.

Diablo blinked, then blinked again. his gaze slowly shifting from side to side, his vision blurred for but a moment before clearing up soon after. He was watching on as the white monster was eating Serene alive, her screams filling his head, filling with dread, as he tried to get up to help her, Diablo quickly found that he couldn't move, cursing with frustration he screamed at the monster "GET AWAY FROM HER!" But the monster only cackled in mockery and continued its feast.

the events that had happened were playing on a loop in rapid succession, figuring out how the hell to get out alive. What we we doing before this Diablo thought as his memory was a little foggy "You had some steamy thought's about that dark elf is what." Diablo's eyes went wide, while his violet eyes darted around looking for the voice that had spoke to him, when finally his gaze dropped to his lap where a violet flame in the shape of a humanoid was curled up "you know she is a nice catch, Mr. 'It's better this way', are all men like you?" The flame scoffed and stroked Diablo's cheek "Your friend is dying you know, and there's nothing you can do about it, well unless.."

The flames sentence trailed off. Before Diablo could speak the flame had placed a single flaming finger against his lips "Hush now, you're the only one that can see, or hear me, you don't want that pretty thing thinking you're crazy right? Of course not." The flame stood up and let out an outstretched hand towards Diablo "If you swear to bind your soul to mine, then, and only then, will I help you." Silently, yet quickly nodding his head, Diablo had begun to feel an extreme heat coming from his very core, yet it was growing hotter and hotter by the second. "I hope you can handle this demon boy, otherwise we both die, good luck!"

The flame had disappeared and left only a burning feeling on his flesh just over his heart as his body felt as if it was going to explode. Diablo had a brief moment of clarity allowing him to quickly sit up "GET AWAY FROM HER, NOW!" He screamed at the white monster as a blinding violet flame had burst from his being, engulfing the entire room in violet. All Diablo could hear was the screeches of the monster, soon followed by the room going pitch dark, yet the monster was nowhere to be seen. Diablo let out a heavy sigh, "I'm sorry Serene." was all he could get as his throat felt on fire and hoarse before he finally succumbed to exhaustion.

"Good job, demon boy, my name is Violeta Ardiente but you can call me Vio, you'd best remember it hehe."

The pain had numbed, or maybe it was the blood loss of the opening her body now had.

The monster had managed to carve through her crushed side and fortunately taken his time chewing off those bits of her rib cage that stood in the way to her lung and rest of the organs. Serene could only gasp for breath and look at Diablo as he collapsed, the white monster had been chased away by an blinding source of light.

There was no explanation to it, or why the white monster reacted to it in the first place, but it was clear Diablo had saved her despite all odds against them.

She looked to her side, splattered on the corpses consumed by the veins across the room, slowly rooting themselves to her from every possible angle, some even attached into her ear, her closest eye and the trails of blood that covered her torso.

There was nothing she could do but gasp for breath as her lung ached from exposure, and this amazed her the most. The veins seemingly pumped the same amount of blood she was losing through her wound. She was thankful to be alive but also feared what was coming.

It was clear to her this was her end, but Diablo was still alive and well and that made her fear for him instead.

"Run away... please." her voice lacking in volume, there was no way he could listen to her, less so passed out. These words were more for her mental sake instead. "Run away..." she muttered this over and over until her consciousness was taken by the vein roots as they reached further into her body.

"Waaaaake uuuup, Waaaaaake uuuuppp, WAKE UP!"

"SERENE!"

DIablo had bolted upward into a sitting position, his eyes instantly darting around until finally resting his gaze upon Serene, whom was unconscious, yet a small rise and fall of her breast indicated that she was in fact still breathing. Diablo had let out a heavy sigh as he laid back down for a moment to collect his thoughts, he was in fact watching Serene dying, while the white monster ate her then...

A familiar voice interrupts his train of thought "Excuse me Mr., I help you, and save you both i might add, and yet you call another woman's name? That's just plain rude ya know." Diablo's brow had furrowed as he shifted his gaze to the flame haired woman who stood before him, whom had her arms crossed and was giving him a pouting look "...Violeta? ...Right?" Diablo had rubbed his face and returned his gaze to the woman. Yep I've gone insane he thought.

As he slowly got up from the blood soaked floor, he carefully made his way over to Serene to further inspect her condition "You're not crazy Diablo, DO keep in mind that i have full access to your memories and thoughts, we are bound after all." Violeta gave a smug smirk as she floated over to him and rested on his shoulder. "Jesus lass, you're in rough shape."

Looking Serene up and down, Diablo had sat there for a moment racking his brain on what to do, or how to help her, taking a quick glance around he noticed that there were veins that had attached themselves to her as some sort of life support for her "It must be how the monsters victims stay alive and fresh for it to eat" He then spat at the ground "Disgusting." Diablo would stand and look around the room, yet sadly there were only bodies and blood for as far as he could see "What the fuck do i do?"

He would caress a bloodied hand against her cheek "You gotta help me out here, im no good at healing." He sighed and began digging around for anything he could find to help him "You know, you could always ditch her." Violeta purred, while Diablos violets eyes darted to her and locked on "That's not an option." And with that he returned his attention to searching.

There was no time to take a breather, and fortunately it didn't seem she needed one.

The bloody roots slowly started to take shape across the tunnel she was running from, stretching out into its stone, tearing the walls in its weight, just meters away from her. She had been running since she gained consciousness inside this dreadful nightmare, afraid of what might happen if the roots got to her entirely.

She stumbled as she looked back to the roots, they seemed to slow down enough for her to do this mistake, her body falling brutally against the floor yet no wound produced on her skin. She panicked as to where she was or what she was running from, her eyes taking her to look both directions of the tunnel.

Alone.

"Diablo! DIABLO!" she screamed at the top of her lungs as her voice echoed across the tunnel, there was no signal of her companion, not even a shadow or the scent of his body she had grown accostumed to. Serene watched into the darkness of the tunnel, wondering for how much longer she would be able to run away from whatever was chasing her.

But it all came to a halt when she noticed the other side of the tunnel was also being consumed by the bloody roots, and now both sides slowly started to surround her, there was nowhere else to run. Serene stood up and watched as the roots connected and digged into her flesh, visible from the outside as they made their way for her head. She clawed her face, her skin falling from her body as it was teared through from the pressure.

She grunted and digged deeper into her own skull, wanting for the tendrils to be gone from connecting into her brain, but there was nothing to stop it. Instead of asking for her, the last thing she could scream out before her body was hijacked was hatred.

Pure, raw hatred against everything and everyone that had ever done her wrong.

"Fuck! There's nothing here but bloody bodies!" In a fit of frustration Diablo had kicked one of the many corpse's that littered the floor, a gushing sound and a new layer of blood splattered across the wall beyond from him. Diablo had placed a hand over the large open wound that encompassed her ribcage and produced his bone to cover the hole and graft into her bone "I'm sorry Serene but this is the best I can do."

After a brief moment he watched as her breathing looked like it was evening out and began ripping the veins away from her body, as each vein was ripped out, one by one , each would attempt to attach to Diablo, which was met with a layer of fire engulfing him before they attached. Squeals and shrieks could be heard from the veins as they shrunk ands shriveled to the heat, quickly crumbling away in Diablo's hand "Ew no, that's just gross Diablo, what if they touched us?" Violeta, whom was floating just above him, had snorted in disgust as she crossed her arms "I can't do much to help just yet, but I can keep you covered while you take those things off her."

Diablo would nod and return his gaze back to the task at hand, one by one, he'd rip the rest of the veins, which had similar reactions near fire as the last had. Slowly the flames that covered him dissipated as Diablo scooped up Serene and started off.

where he was Diablo was not sure of, what he did know however, was that he was farther down than last time, the dungeon had walls and doors, yet down here in the monsters lair, was purely caverns and tunnels, and with that there was no light to speak of, Diablo had a thought cross his mind as he cautiously walked the tunnels, yet before he could get a word out, Violeta had jumped up and grinned "Of course I can Diablo, that's easy, try giving me something harder next time." She giggled and instantly shifted into a floating orb of fire "That's a neat trick Vio." Diablo had shrugged and continued walking.

It wasn't soon after that he came to a intersection and took the left tunnel, slowly picking up his pace until he came skidding to a halt to a small opening that had the walls of the cavern adorned with smaller openings. Quietly he slipped into the nearest one and covered it up with his bone . Slowly he placed Serene down and sat beside her, he was getting tired and he knew he needed a rest before he could go on

"Could you keep an eye on things so I could take a moment to rest Vio?" Violeta shifted back and stared long at Diablo before smiling "Only if you bind yourself to me, you did promise after all." He shot a pointed glare at her before he spoke "Fine" Diablo slowly stood up and brushed himself off "So how does this work?" Violeta's smile had turned into a grin as she rocketed into his body "Just accept me!"

The next thing Diablo knew was that she was in his body, but he was no longer the one 'steering', it was an unnerving feeling to say the least, as he went to talk, however his mouth didn't move but only spoke in his own mind "This is what you meant then? We share my body?" Violeta began moving about the small area Diablo was in, stretching and jumping up and down "Exactly! such a nimble body."

She purred as a chuckle escaped from her "You can sleep while I take care of things here, when you're good and ready we can switch places. Plus this way I can keep our body safe, along with that elf."

Diablo sighed "Don't do anything stupid Vio" He warned before going to sleep. Violeta had sat back down across from Serene and watched her intently "What does he see in you?"
