Gwythiel Faenwe Scabhair Marcelina Celestial Haelen Blacklocks
Dwarves and elves and magicians and an orc riding an actual fucking lion. Here we was running his Empathy off of fumes with just a few feet of solid steel in his hands.
But Raigryn hadn't died yet. He had seen war before and fought terrors and yet he was still here.
Probably what everyone thinks right before they die, he thought to himself.
The flora rising up to attack the trolls had done far more than crush a few of the beasts. It had spread them out, minimising the impact as they crashed into the line of dwarves.
He was tempted to draw on his Avarice and cut one of the trolls in two, but he preferred not to use any flashy magic. Too many questions when Empaths were held in low esteem back in Allir. Instead he drew on his Desire to balance his Fury.
The closest troll stumbled as Raigryn increased its weight by a few kilograms. Its midnight black face became a scowl right before Raigryn stepped forwards and split it in two. The troll didn't even die, but it rolled away squealing and writhing across the ground. There wasn't the time to despatch it, not with another batch bearing down on them.
As the reach trolls hit the shields of the dwarves another rushed towards the empath. Raigryn had to throw himself to the side as it leapt, knowing that even skewering the troll in the air would have merely slowed it down. The moment one of them dragged him to the ground was the moment he finally met his makers.
An adventurer didn't reach this age taking risks.
