Open Chronicles The Red Cloak.

A roleplay open for anyone to join
Helena's eyes went wide, here brows arched high, lifted with disbelief as they were. "Show, you?" she repeated. She blinked, then thought on the young woman's words.

It was not that Ziganni wanted to become educated. No. Helena would be happy to offer such an opportunity to the young vagabond, raised by goblins as she was. She would offer her more even. And now that this stranger, fiery as he was, confessed that he headed toward the Vale, well, that complicated the matter. Only slightly, and while in present company.

Perchance they would stumble across Edelbert, or perchance they would rendesvous on the road once more. Only fate could tell. For now, it was best to keep secrets.

Helena did not turn her back on the strange man with the strange aura. The demon in disguise, she was sure to remind herself. She simply adjusted her angle toward Ziganni slightly, and bowed to her, with a hand over her heart and her eyes closed. "Food, sounds good," she rose up and smiled at her warmly. "And I will show you," she nodded again. "Human," she motioned with her hands, to Ziganni then herself.

Keldorn gathered his reins in his hand. "Ziganni, no trouble." His gaze then shifted to Helena. "Druid.. something tells me our paths will cross again." He had to reach the Vale, then his temple. "Keep her safe."

He would click his tongue and forward Vekna would start his slow trot. The burning at his clhest would lessen with each step away from the demon he had taken. Once he was far enough away, he would resume his whistling, never once losing his vigilance.

Dauner sighed as Keldorn began to move away. "What a rude guy. He could have at least said goodbye" he said, shaking head.

Although he knew why many would want to kill him on sight, it was still annoying how few among them stopped for a second to consider him as an individual, and not a demon. He quickly shook the thoughts from his head as he turned to Ziganni.

It was cute how she tried to portray her emotions in words, but couldn't get past basic two word phrases. Perhaps what she most urgently needed was to learn to speak more fluently.

Dauner made his way over to the young woman and placed his hand on her shoulder. He puffed his chest, placing his other hand on it. "Me, I mean. I teach very well. I'll teach to speak well" he said, as he released the suppression on his demonic side. Both demonic and human auras soon mixed together as though cohabiting harmoniously.

She nodded at her two new friends. "Come, we feed. Then I human." She said to the both of them happily.

Ziganni knew there'd be tension but two people to educate her was better, and maybe if she was lucky they'd learn something from one and other. "Promise no rob." she said lightheartedly with a crooked smile. As she led the way back to the Goblin camp. The stew she'd made tonight would already be bubbling on the fire as they arrived, with a few more preparations it'd be complete.

Helena knew that her manner of speech was, well, a product of her circumstance. With only her tiny tribelings to instruct her, how was she to learn proper common? Still, the phrase, Then I human, was enough to put a smile on Helena's face, almost a laugh. But, respect and propriety had her restrain herself to but a hint of teeth.

She'd not pay the demon much mind, and her guard would never fully drop as she moved behind Ziganni to follow. "My sword," she spoke to the girl, and this time she did smile as she trekked after the comely thief, daughter to goblins. "Please, return," she said gently.

When the returned to the goblin camp, the little folk were already busy with their regular lives. The smell of stew wafted about, and though her appetite was not too felt, she had to admit it smelled good. At least for now.

"What kind of stew?" Helena asked as she sat about the fire, and smiled at the site of some of the goblin children running about. Their big eyes observing her, and the other newcomer to their camp with the curiosity all children seemed to keep. Helena nodded to them in greeting, and they scampered off.

Dauner grinned at the girl, as they all headed into the goblin camp. It wasn't anything special. Just about the same as many small tribes he'd seen in his lifetime. The people, or goblins as the case may be, going about their various task to contribute to the community, and the kids playing around with childish innocence. For some reason, it smelled a lot like home. Or maybe it was the smell of the stew that had caught his nose instead.

The sweet smell immediately stimulated his ever-present hunger, as he sniffed the air. "Haaaah. Smells delicious" he'd remark. "Ziganni family cook very well" he'd say, offering the girl an expectant grin. As the kids passed by, observing them, Dauner would offer them a goofy face, as his playfully childishly playful side would slowly reveal itself.

The woman spoke to Ziganni about her sword, in the hubbub they'd forgotten to return it to her. Ziganni barked at a couple Goblins, telling them to grab the blade and return it to their guest. The key word being guest. She smiled humbly, "They get." she said reassuring the woman. "Next day they show you collection, pick what want." She tried to explain that the Goblins would show the warriors their cache of weapons and they could pick what they want for their convenience. Ziganni didn't know a tonne about weapons but she'd robbed a many passing knight so some of the blades were quite pretty for lack of a better term. Many were encrusted with precious gems etc.

Her home was bustling with activity, she shot a few warning glances at a couple of the Goblins who made less the ideal comments, thankful her guests didn't have a comprehensive Goblin vocabulary. It was the children who were the sweetest, very rarely did they see other people who looked like their Ziganni. She'd tried to keep the robbing away from them as she believed violence wasn't the answer. Plus she also risked them tying each other up in some sort of game and injuring one and other. They seemed to take a liking to the man travelling with them but still kept their guard up the best they could.

The woman had asked Ziganni what type of stew she made and Ziganni pondered trying to remember animal names before acting out antlers with her hand, trying to describe a deer. "Big brown, large horns. Like small horse?" she said semi-hopelessly. There was also an assortment of veggies she'd thrown in like carrots and celery that she'd managed to grow in the smaller gardens around the village. Plus whatever spices they stole off travelling merchants and she thought smelt nice. The man said it smelt good and she smiled, and nodded in thanks, "Next day we have..." she paused searching for the word, "roast!" she said excitedly, proud of pulling out a word she didn't regularly use.

Helena laughed at Ziganni's miming, warm and bubbly, her teeth showed in a smile. "We have good luck then," she said, careful as she chose her words. "And thank you," she continued, and gestured with an upturned palm to all the small village about them. "For making us guest," she said the word in the tongue of the mountain goblins that she could remember, having heard sharp vowels and intonations that sounded... similar to the word she knew.

She looked back at the demon who walked as a young man. Making faces at the children. The corners of her lips pulled up, ever so, but she remembered foes from her past, enemies recorded in the tomes of the order. Face takers. Skin changers. No. It was still too early.

But how long could she stay? The Monastery was a long ways away, and Syr Edelbert was surely worried about her by now.

"Ziganni," the young knight broke, a calm in her voice. "Do you have water? A bowl of water, please." she went on.

Listening to the young girl describe the kind of stew they were having, Dauner chimed in excitedly. "Deer", he'd say, in an attempt to give her a word for what she was describing. Honestly, he too wasn't totally sure it was a deer she was speaking of. He'd met other creatures with similar physical characteristics. Some were tame, others, not so much. But the deer was, without a doubt, the most common of them, and he doubted the goblins had the strength to hunt those rare and legendary level predators.

Dauner grinned in anticipation. "Deer stew. Yummy" he'd add. Although his demon side, did not need food for sustenance, and, given his level, his human side could last several months without it, he had still let himself grow into the habits of an ordinary human. As such, illusory though it may have been, he still felt hunger, and reveled in the taste of a good meal.

"I'll help. Roast" he said upon hearing of the following day's meal plan. Anyway, he had nothing important to do, and time was the last thing he was in need of, so why not hang around for a couple more days. Or months, depending on the situation.
