"You heard her Ransa's Tears, see if we have any left."
The medic ran to find some.
Trask took off his gloves, helmet and examined the wound of the feathered dragon.
"We do not have the time. SALT AND SULFUR, THIS DRAGON NEEDS A FLASH-PATCH!"
Trask met Faye's eyes briefly.
"Help me keep him calm."
The medic came back with a fresh ground compound of salt and sulfur. The Flash-Patch was common on the wall, a human would probably die but even a young Dragon was expected to live when the wound was pact and set ablaze, hence the name.
"Easy now."
The feathered dragon jerked as he felt the compound get applied.
"Easy."
Trask held his head and stroked his snout. Then gave a nod to the medic who set the wound alight.

A dragon would not be calmed by a rider not bonded to them, but Faye only needed to think of her dragon before feeling his answering call. She turned to where she expected him to land, her eyes guiding the blind white dragon towards her. Cathán kept his lead low as he sniffed out his rider, blowing steam before her and warming those in her vicinity.
"Calm him." She asked of her bonded, guiding his head to where Trask now stood, bracing for the reaction that would come after the flash-patch was ignited. But little resistance came, the feathered dragon merely snarled and bared it's teeth. Faye ducked under the neck of her dragon before shooing the medic aside and inspecting the compound.
"It's steady... but we will need to monitor this wound overnight." And keep an eye for declining health. Those privy to healing wounds for dragons knew there was a chance it may not survive. "Ransa tears, every two hours... and clean up the superficial wounds... Keep him comfortable."

The medic nodded, looking around the bay and communicating with others. Faye turned to Trask with an impassive expression. "I traveled with a dozen Ransa tears, should we require them for the duration of our stay here." When Carlyle had told her he secured her a spot to fly out with him, the anxieties clung to her. There was only so much the Tears could do, but on a human, it was crucial. If anything happened to Carlyle, or gods forbid, Cathán, Faye wanted to be ready.

Letting out a sharp whistle, it didn't take long for Fafnir to land on the wall beside her. His massive size causing a loud thud. As Mira dangled her legs over the wall, Fafnir placed his massive head in her lap and she stroked the smooth scales, earning a small purr from him in response.

"I wish we were connected like the others were with their dragons. We grew up together. We should have a stronger bond then everyone else..." Mira paused, letting out a heavy sigh. "We shouldn't have come here. Vahgor was right. We are nothing but children who don't know what their doing. But something brought us here.....I just don't know what."

Mira laid the upper half of her body across the top of his head, crying as she thought over Vahgor's words. None of this was going to end well if she tried to fight along side the other riders. She didn't even have a saddle nor any weapons. Mira sniffled and fell asleep against Fafnir's head, her legs dangling over the wall as the sunset began to glow down on her.

"Sending her back without the strength of the whole group will only put her in just as much danger." Arevalo retorted, crossing his arms as he lowered his posture in respect towards Vhagor's authority. Even Zeodag's influence had not been able to shake Carlyle's respect for the man, who'd treated him the same as any other no matter the scenario. "Zeodag and I will watch her. If something happens, I'll handle it. You've my word." Carlyle punctuated his words with a small bow. Babysitting wasn't on his to-do list, and he could feel Zeodag's nagging disapproval, but this was something he'd felt strongly about.

If there were not those who'd taken a chance on him, who bent the rules in order to let him shine, even the might of his Dragon would not have gotten him this far. If he could be one of those people for the young Miss Mira, it would be an honor to do so. Turning from Vhagor, Arevalo went to search for the young woman who'd left in a huff. She wasn't difficult to find, having taken solace in the presence of her dragon, bemoaning her mistakes aloud as he approached her.

"You shouldn't have come here. You're right." Carlyle seemed to reaffirm her woes as he walked around the side of Fanfir to look up at her. "But to dwell on mistakes is a fruitless effort. You're here now, Mira, so we may as well give you the chance you seek." Arevalo smirks up at the girl, tilting his head to motion her to dismount and stand before him. "My name is Carlyle. You're to stay near me at all times and follow my orders. For this mission, you will be working directly for me, understand?"

The chaos in the courtyard slowly subsided as dragons were rushed off to either the healing areas or were told to take flight and seek out the 'stables' so they would be less in the way. Vhagor watched the three less injured animals head off to the large tower that the smaller dragons used as a base. It was one of several dotted along the length of the wall acting as both watchtowers and homes for their bonded kin. Those like Nyxondra who were too large to fit were granted the limited courtyard spaces or took their chances on the ground.

Vhagor sighed as the dragons vanished within and turned his attention back to the blue dragon who watched his back unflinchingly. Her tail dislodged a loose bit of stonework as it snaked across the ground and settled over her talons.

"I won't ask if you think I was too harsh," he huffed a laugh. Nyx closed her eyes briefly as she pushed her rough snout into his outstretched hand. He knew she was fighting her desire to rip them both apart, and the silly feathered dragon for getting so injured. "Go, hunt. We have our work cut out for us tomorrow," seeming to mimic his earlier huff with one of her own the blue dragon stretched out her wings. Soldiers scattered as she beat them and then leapt into the air.

"Be down here at dawn," he called to the cadets still loitering. "If anyone feels like they need me, you don't," and with that the grumpy soldier marched inside.

"You heard her. Keep it clean and apply salve as needed.
As you were medicus Lurran."

"Yes Sir."
Trask held no love for Faye's choice in company but he never refused honest help.
"My thanks. Our own supplies have been running low. I daresay you shall save more lives. By the grace of your being so prepared."
He still stroked the feathered ones head. The dragon Faye called did its work and helped it keep from panicking when the flash patch went off.
With some reluctance he left the creature to its recovery. He didn't like the idea of purebreds but he favoured no creatures bad luck to have a fool for it's master.
He stood away and observed the scene. It was getting done and his bloody hands needed cleaning.
"Any time you want to bring more, our stores will never be full and... The Commander will always be grateful."
He dipped his hands in a sand bucket as he spoke, coating them as the grit absorbed the blood and wiped them clean on a rag.

"Sending her back......
Mira looked back at Carlyle. She didn't know him, but has heard his name a few times. She didn't know what to think of the man, but he was still her superior. Mira stood slowly, her eyes now wide awake as she dropped down in front of him. Fafnir stood, eyes Carlyle up and down, swinging his tail around me protectively, even as I stood in front of Carlyle.

"I guess I should let you know im not pair ponded with Fafnir then. Only Vahgor knows out of everyone....so if you could keep this between us....that would he much appreciated."

I look up at Carlyle waiting for his answer.

"I guess I should let you know I'm not pair ponded with Fafnir then. Only Vahgor knows out of everyone....so if you could keep this between us....that would be much appreciated."

Carlyle raises a brow. The girl was riding a Dragon she hadn't bonded with? She was either very brave, or very stupid. And judging from the decisions she'd made thus far... It didn't look good. Nevertheless, he merely shrugged at her request. "I've little reason to tell other people your business, Miss Winters." There was nothing to gain from such a thing, after all. What did it matter to him?

Turning his head at Vhagor's final order before he headed for one of the towers along the wall, Carlyle let out a small sigh of relief. They'd gotten through one day without absolute catastrophe. With this group, he hadn't been so sure.

"You heard the man, Mira. Go get some rest. The two of you must be exhausted after a trip like that."

He, in the meantime, needed to find Faye. He wouldn't be shocked if she'd lost it and strangled Trask by now, nor would he have blamed her in the slightest. Still, it would behoove him as her lover to grant her some reprieve from the colorful wyvern-rider.

"I'll meet you back here in the morning, first thing."

Arevalo departed, heading over to where Faye had been tending to the wounded. Of course, he heard them before he saw them; It was difficult not to hear Trask's shouting over everyone else on the damned wall. He was able to follow it right to Faye, sliding up beside her and looking down at the Dragon she'd been mending.

"What's the situation, darling?"

"I am afraid I trade my handcrafted items for Ransa tears." Certainly not by other means, of which she forgot all thought of as her love came to her side. Her arm went to touch his back, welcoming his presence when the Wall was not familiar grounds for the glassblower.

"Trask here rightfully treated with a Flash Patch. We shall see if this feathered dragon is strong enough to recover, but..." She looked between the mercenary and her love, "there is no use standing here and waiting. We should all rest, prepare for the day to come." Dark green eyes now fell upon the slow breathing dragon, still being soothed with whatever curious magic her bonded possessed. He had used his healing magic on her the day they bonded, and even though she still had the scars on her back, she survived.

Perhaps the feathered dragon may see out from this.

"How fares the child?" She asked of Carlyle, guiding him to take the lead in exiting the medical bay. "Vhagor did not feed her to Nyx, did he?" Curiosity could cost many things, but Faye hoped the girl would learn from this. Perhaps even the red dragon could take more careful thought before putting their trider at risk out here on the Wall.

Trask suddenly became very busy looking anywhere but at Carlyle.
"Faye ignores her own part. The dragon will sleep and allow itself to heal in time thanks to her own."
The worst had passed and the landing area was clearing.
He gave a short laugh at Faye's joke.
"I'll see an escort given to the straggler. She and the dragon will be returned home as soon as they are ready."
The manpower could not be spared but it had to be. It had been four days since the Jarlax had come last and they only had the people to man every third post as it stood. This child, this lost pup, had cost more than her blessedly ignorant mind could ever know.
Yet it could not be helped. Worse than fewer soldiers was the unready, the untrained.

"You heard the man, Mira. Go get some rest. The two of you must be exhausted after a trip like that."

Mira sighed as she pat Fafnir's muzzle. "Go find yourself something to eat. I highly doubt your tired, we have traveled a lot farther then this wall before especially since we are always trapped in those mountains."

Fafnir let a low rumble a nuzzled into Miras hand right before taking off to find food. Mira sighed then headed to off to bed. As she entered the sleeping chambers, she looked around at the cadets who were meant to be here, all of them sending a glare her way.

It's not like their dragons got hurt because of her. They were the ones that couldn't keep control of their dragons. Mira had stayed far behind for that reason. Even without a saddle and reins, Mira could easily keep Fafnir under control. The only problem she has was she often slipped off his back.

Mira rolled her eyes then moved over to an empty bed away from everyone, closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep.

(Trask did you just blame the cadet's dragon getting hurt on Mira? Or am I reading that wrong? XD)
