There was a split. The tribe was in unrest. Yet they tried to stay united.

Mabess led a small party along the fringes of the worksite. Axes split wood and hammers clang against metal. Metal that did not come cheaply. The costs were piling up by now, and the ashlanders were not the monetary sort.
All had to be hunted to trade for resources.
There was no other way.

Before her lay a great waste upon the side of the spine, trees burned to ashes, some fires still lingering. The ground she stepped on was a thick layer of ash and the blackness on the sky was greater than any seen in her lifetime, it almost blotted out the sun. Half of the ashlanders were set upon work on a city greater than any seen before. Mabess, of course, was one of those that objection of building such a fortress in the mountains. Ashlanders were people of the land.
Though some part of her understood why some would move on to build a great city of their own, it was in their blood after all. To farm and live in cosy villages for generations like many many many generations back at the Blightlands.
For long they have avoided the men of the mountains, muttering how little claim the orcs had upon the land. This would change...

The nameless city was being erected. Reinforced stone foundations already rose upon the site. Piles of massive wooden beams and iron lay at the side, waiting to be hauled to the site where the first of the houses were being built.

Hunting nonsensically would leave the mountainsides dry, no, there were specific targets that would supply a greater worth with little damage to future hunting prospects.
»Mabess? I've seen the tracks west from the shrieking rock,« Mogrid spoke in her hushed, calculated tone. Mabess crossed over her arms.
»The great elk?«
»None other.«

»Rally the huntresses. «

Gorgrax, accompanied by a retinue of his hunters, were making their way through the wilderness, tracking a special meal indeed.

"Oooooh I can't wait to gobble up that elk!" One of the orcs stated with glee, trying his best not to clap his hands as he walked.

"Shut up!" Another said. "The meats not for you. Gorgrax is gonna use it to get other tribes to our cause." Murmuring sadly, the other orc deflated as their chief kept his eyes peeled for tracks.

"Remember" He said "Don't kill any orcs we find up here."

"What about non orcs?" The discouraged orc inquired.

Gorgrax gave that familiar toothy grin. "Then eat to your hearts desire." He said with an evil chuckle.

»Get your mount then, « Mabess huffed out.

In a few minutes, both Mogrid and Mabess were out in the wilds. the ruckus of the town makes was long gone and only the silence of the forest remained.
The tracks were not clear as originally thought. Footprints disappeared and the foliage was undisturbed. Not even a twig snapped in half.

It seemed as if they lost any track of the beast, and then they heard it...
»Are those?...« Mogrid whispered.
»Bumbling orcs...« Mabess sighed.

"What's that over there?" One of the orcs asked.

"Is that the Stag?" Another inquired.

"Shut up!" Gorgrax commanded, grunting in frustration as he cut down a part of the vegetation blocking his path. "Looks like other orcs." He noted, pushing his way towards them to issue his greetings.

"Greetings, sisters. What brings you out here in the wilderness?" He was as cordial as was required, though honestly didn't care who they were or why they were here. So long as they didn't get in his way, he would not trouble them.

The other orcs, meanwhile, we're gawking somewhat, having noticed the fact both were female, and were hoping to catch their attention in a way that didn't anger their chieftain. It was hard to have children when only Gorgrax was allowed to take wives, so they were quick to be social whenever they could.

Gorsgoya squinted her eyes, leaning towards Mabess, whispering.
Mabess rose her eyebrows at the group, chuckling lightly.
We'll that's some rather exotic looking orcs.

"My name is Mabess, cheiftain of the Ashlanders and this is Gorsgoya, my loyal huntress. This land is ours and we are on a hunt."
