His thumb brushed beneath her eye. Swiping at the moisture that threatened to spill. Her words made something inside his chest crack. He was used to females throwing themselves at him. Easily joining him from beer to bed. And Lori. Gods, Lori was so different.
As if the words caused him pain, he began to speak. "If you don't," he breathed. FUCK. "You always have a choice with me, Lori," he spoke slowly. "You feel it too? But," his breathing turned shallow.
"You don't have to make a choice right now." Fuck that hurt to say. Even as he said it, he didn't step back. His fingers gently brushed through some of her blonde strands of hair. Sweat and the battle clinging to her. And him. "But before you walk away," he assumed. He assumed she might want to. Especially after everything she'd seen him do.
"I want to show you something. Take you somewhere that means a lot to me."
