Open Chronicles A New Arrival

A roleplay open for anyone to join
((I honestly don't know. It would be nice to add other people, but I barely know anyone here. Perhaps you know somebody?))

(Okay)

That night she slept fairly well, as well as a naturally nocturnal elf could sleep anyway, at least until she heard the sounds of screaming, and smelled smoke. Her eyes shot open and she leapt from her bed, her simple black undergarments being her only clothes donned at that exact moment. She ran to the window and saw several rooftops on fire, and a number of armed men and women running through the quaint little village wielding various weapons in various states of maintenance, but none neglected to the point of being unusable, some even wore armor.

They were each doing various things, lighting buildings on fire after they had been looted of valuables and food, others dragging people away as entertainment or profit for later, and others were cutting down resistance. Forgetting about her clothes, she didn't have time to dress herself after all, she leapt smoothly from the window and sent a shard of ice, trailing a tail of blue light with it, a comet, into the chest of one of the raiders, ripping a hole as big as his head through his clothing and his armor.

There were a few people who were able to resist more successfully than others, but ultimately it was a loosing battle unless they could scare the bandits off.

Aegnor almost fell asleep. Almost.

The sounds of people screaming made him jolt and sit up in his bed. Shivering in the cold of fhe night he hurriedly searched for his knife. He felt like he would need it.

Outside, houses burned and residents ran around in terror. Aegnor spotted the cause of the mayhem and snarled. Bandits. He hated bandits.

Suddenly, he remembered he had left Namidre all alone there. He raced towards Emily's inn, where Emily stood frozen in terror. "Emily! Where's Namidre?" Emily sputtered in fear but thankfully pointed towards Emily's room. Where had she-

Suddenly a figure jumped from a window, releasing a shard of ice with it. Aegnor stared, frozen in amazement as Namidre hit a bandit in the chest. A blinding light surrounded his vision, and he stumbled to the floor, unconscious.

Namidre looked around, launching comets at any bandit that dared show their face to her. But the raid was just that a raid, a fast attack, loot and withdraw. So the bandits after seeing six or seven of their not inconsiderable number fall, they turned and left. They had taken plenty already, but they’d be back to punish the village for their resistance and the killing of their own.

Namidre took a few moments to put her own clothes on, (see profile pic), and came back to check on the people in the inn, her cloak had been left in the inn and it was basically pointless to hide what she was from them now that many had seen her.

She was still mild mannered and very timid, despite her skill with magic. And she approached Emily, “Do you know how many people were taken or hurt? Where’s Master Aegnor?”

Emily regained her compsure and stared at Namidre. "Master Aegnor? Why, he was looking for you. Wherever could he have gone?" She stared around her inn, thinking he would pop out anywhere. "I'm afraid I haven't seen him since the raid started, Mistress Namidre."

(Would I be correct in assuming that the bandits got him?)

Namidre thought for a moment, “when did you last see him? Could he still be nearby?”

She looked around at the people, some injured some not, looking for Aegnor’s face among the crowd.

((Sure, why not? I mean he WAS unconscious.))

Aegnor woke up to the sound of arguing. He tried to stand up but found out he was strapped to a chair. He tried screaming, but his mouth was covered with a rag. He squirmed in his seat, trying to go free.

Where were his captors? He looked around and recognized that he was on a ship. Thankfully it wasn't moving. He tried pulling at the bonds on his hands, when he heard footsteps. He immediately slumped, trying to act like he was still unconscious. He closed his eyes tight, hoping that his captors suspected nothing. He prayed in his head for someone to find him, anyone...

It seemed he didn't convince the two men that captured him, because he heads grunts and a swing of something wooden. He blacked out....

(Okay, she’ll have to help break him out, I’m thinking that she takes a few townspeople with her to help with the rescue, and he breaks out with the others from the inside, dividing them just enough for a victory.)

Namidre couldn’t find him. And a number of people were missing. Many of the townspeople were upset about loosing loved ones. So, she began to look for a hunter, someone who knew how to track movement through underbrush. She had no idea how to do that, so she’d need help.

((Okay. Sounds exciting!))

Aegnor woke up in a dark place with a man's frightened face staring back at him. He hastily rose up and saw that his bonds were released. That was something, he supposed. He didn't know where he was now. Not that he could see anything at the moment. "Hey, you." He asked the man who had been staring at him. "Where are we?" He demanded. The man didn't ask, just squirm silently. Aegnor tried to ask again, but in a blink of an eye was on the floor. Dazed, he tried to stand up, but a foot planted him to the ground. He relented and stayed silent in the dark, hoping that someone was looking for him.

She found a couple who were willing to help, and they were able to track the bandits to their base. It just so happened that that base was a small ship, which would allow them to disappear fairly thoroughly. But it also made it very difficult to sneak into, if not impossible. Perhaps if they were to sabotage the ship and force them to fight in the open they might have a chance of sneaking some people in to get the rest out.

They returned to the village, and Namidre explained the situation to Emily, who in turn helped inform the townspeople. It would be a difficult thing to do. Namidre might have to exhaust her magic in order to obtain success. But it was possible.

Aegnor sat on a wall silently. His captors didn't allow talking. Or attacking, for that matter. His face was bloody with his few attempts. His eyes stinged from lack of sleep.

He stared at the guard protecting him at the door. He smirked in his direction, happy that he couldn't see him do it. Aegnor rubbed his knees. Although this particular guard was a bit stupid, he made up for it in strength.

Staring at their only source of light, a small window, Aegnor sighed. He really hoped they would be saved soon. He was tired of sitting in the dark and doing nothing. Yawning, Aegnor lied down to sleep.

Namidre and a number of hunters armed with bows, and people armed wit sickle blades on long pitchfork shafts. She launched a comet, which tore through the top deck of the small vessel, and the battle began. Hunters let arrows fly and the rest were ready to fight up close.

Aegnor woke up to the sound of screaming for the second time. Cursing loudly, the person beside him jumped up. He got up and ran to the guard at the door, who luckily ran away as soon as he heard the commotion.

Gathering up the men of the group, together they went up to join the fight. Aegnor cleaved his way through his enemies with a metal bar he found lying around.

He scanned the battlefield for Namidre. Aegnor silently prayed she was out of danger's way.

When was norm out of danger’s way. She was in the thick of it, letting comets fly with vengeance, making bandit’s basically explode with blood as the blue tailed spikes of ice punched through them.

Aegnor spotted Namidre fighting and ran towards her. Thank the gods she was alive! He dodged the severed limbs of their enemies, which were flying all around them. He also watched the ground full of blood and body parts.

''Did you gather these people here?'' He asked, and then smiled. ''If so, thank you. I appreciate it.'' He said, and kicked a bandit in the chest. He looked around for a weapon, and saw a piece of wood. He grabbed it and whacked a guy on the head. He looked back and saw a bandit running towards Namidre, so he ran as fast as he could and kicked him in the shins. Since he was still in shock, Aegnor hit him on the head.

He saw the other prisoners escape, and some fought and others ran away. He gathered the people who were eager to fight, and together they charged a group of bandits.
