Settra
Formerly Medja of Ragash's top assassin and a candidate for a seat among the Five Fingers of the Hidden Hands.
He has forsaken his life in the Empire of Amol-Kalit for Nymeasha Soleiman, planning to travel afar with her.
Appearance
Tan skin; dull, brown eyes; dark brown, tousled hair, grown long on top and kept in a neat tail. Chisled facial features, marked by scars, particularly over his eyebrow and his nose. Nose bears obvious appearance of having been broken at some point and not having grown back together quite right. Often has short facial hair, but prefers to keep it trimmed back. Muscular, but not bulky.
Skills and Abilities
- Assassin: Settra was raised from his youth to infiltrate and kill the most efficient way possible: quickly and in silence.
- Tri-Blades and Scorpion's Tail: Settra's unique weapons of choice, suited well to his magic. The tri-blades function as versatile and tricky weapons in close quarters and can be thrown to deadly effect. The Scorpion's Tail is a bladed whip that mounts to Settra's spine and can be concealed beneath a cloak or shirt, though it is effectively useless to anyone without the magical ability to control it.
- Magnesis: Settra's brand of sorcery allows him to control metal he's touched with his bare skin. The longer he's been in contact with the metal, the more potent his control. He primarily uses this to manipulate the Scorpion's Tail like an extra limb, and to influence his tri-blades mid flight when thrown.
Personality
Softspoken, reserved, thoughtful, selfless. Settra has traditionally found difficulty in emoting at all, though Nymeasha Soleiman has been slowly working this out of him.
Biography & Lore
Taken at a young age to be trained by Master Ismael of the Shifra Monastery, the clandestine school honed Settra into their platonic ideal of an assassin. Settra was made a cold shell, an empty, living weapon to be pointed at problems by others.
Ismael's proudest work, he was offered to Lady Medja sometime prior to the Empire of Amol-Kalit's annexation of Ragash, and rapidly rose to be considered Medja's best Onyx Hand. To this day, not one Onyx Hand has passed Settra's kill count, nor his perfect record of success.
In time, Settra was assigned to work with Nymeasha Soleiman in dispatching the man who'd been pulling the strings in her home city of Salitra: the wizard Navran Soleiman, Nym's own uncle. The pair narrowly managed to slay the old mage, and formed a romantic bond in their time journeying together.
Settra remained as Nym's retainer when she ascended the throne of her father and became Sultana of Salitra, and stood by her when she turned against the Empire as well.
After Nym was brought low, Settra prevented her execution and spirited her away from the Empire. He remains devoted to her still.
