Raimond Thesius
The Thesius Family
Unlike the Royal family and the numerous noble houses of Thanasis that hold much of the prestige and power of the City of Dragons, the Thanasis family is notable in that while they no longer have the influence or distinction they once had, they are still heralded as one of the earliest families known to have settled in Malakath, crucial to the initial settlement of the region before the great city of Thanasis shielded them all in exchange for their devotion to the winged beasts they worshipped.
In today's Thanasis, the Thesius family holds no real power. They are, however, greatly respected for their history and often consulted by the other families and houses as advisors, and the public sees them as an important historical symbol. Those born with the last name are expected to uphold the values, traditions, and leadership set by their forbearers.
Their continued presence is more cosmetic than anything else, but it's an anchor of tradition and a piece of history that all of Thanasis look to with reverence.
Raimond Thesius
Raimond was born with heavy expectations on his shoulders from the very beginning. With a family name that tied him to the Malakath and the city of Thanasis forever, and an older brother who, at the time, was serving as one of the most decorated warriors in all of the city's history. His upbringing was strict, his free time restricted and his education rigourous. His older brother Errune had failed to produce any offspring due to several very unfortunate circumstances, after all, and this meant the future of the Thesius line would be represented by Raimond.
As he grew, however, Raimond felt little enjoyment in the idea of being some symbol of the past to anybody who met him. Why would he constrain himself to represent what had already happened for the rest of his life? It was this mentality that made him a rebellious and often stubbornly antagonistic child teenager. Rather than study the history of Thanasis and make appearances with the rest of his family, Raimond would rather practice riding his own companion, Ha'than, whom he bonded with at a very early age.
Riding Dragons, that was what he truly loved.
Holding yourself aloft atop a winged god, touching the clouds while your own life hung by a thread. It brought such a sensation of freedom that Rai couldn't find anywhere else. In the sky, the young Thesius heir didn't have to worry about his parent's overbearing standards. He didn't have to witness the sorrow in the eyes of his once strong and passionate elder brother, and he wasn't constantly being hounded by the families of young women seeking to make their daughters into status symbols by marrying them to him.
Now entering his mid-twenties, Raimond has yet to find a permanent place within Thanasis' society. While his brother Errune serves at the Royal Palace, the younger of the pair makes his living putting on daring displays of Ha'than's agility and ariel prowess for the non-ascended of Thanasis. Of course, most of his family sees this as little better than being a street performer working for coins.
Pressure is beginning to come down on his shoulders once again, though. Several of the noble houses are beginning to decline, and a wedding festival for the city's oldest family would be a much-needed shot in the arm.
Someday, Raimond tells them, he'll find a nice girl and give them what they want out of him.
Someday, but not today.

Ha'than
Ha'Than is the Dragon that bonded with Raimond in his youth, though he wasn't permitted to interact too much with him until he came of age. It's not clear exactly how this bond was formed; one evening Raimond simply didn't come home for his supper, and was found near the edge of town by his father hanging on for dear life to the white Dragon's side about a hundred or so feet up.
Over time, Ha'Than and Raimond became inseparable. Whenever it was possible to escape the duties and responsibilities assigned to him, chances were that Raimond did just that and you'd find him with his closest friend, as white as snow.
Ha'Than is on the smaller side of fully-grown Dragons in Malakath, though still imposing. It's this sleeker form that grants it agility and flexibility one doesn't typically see in his larger brethren. This is perfect for Raimond, who prefers to fly dangerously and weave through obstacles as opposed to avoiding them.
Raimond is somewhat emotionally dependent on his Dragon. The few times they've been forced apart have a noticable mental effect on him, sometimes to a dramatic effect.[/h]
