Haydn Daricson
Haydn Daricson is a Half-Human Half-Elf Freelance Ranger who seeks out jobs across various swaths of land to make coin, but also for the betterment of others. Born to Daric Erakson, and Feyna Nol'Dath, Haydn is a young man set on doing what he can with what he has. Which isn't much.
Appearance
Standing under average height for most humans, and at the taller end of Nocturnal Elves, Haydn is rather boy-ish in his features. A mix of Elven and Human features. He does sport "Knife Ears" akin to other elves, just not as pronounced. However, most of his other features more closely resemble his Father. Haydn has some smaller scars on his arms, legs and hands. Mostly from working in a field, or from his time learning how to be a ranger.
Skills and Abilities
Hand to Hand Combat:
Haydn was taught some hand to hand combat. Enough to protect himself. He's not a soft target. However, due to his stature, strength is not his strong suit. As such, he relies more heavily on technique or even under handed tactics to defend himself or attack others.
Bladed Weapons:
A large part of his training as a Ranger, was the usage of short swords, daggers, throwing knifes, and the like. As such, Haydn is well versed in combining his hand to hand combat with shorter bladed weaponry. Including throwing weapons of the smaller size. He is capable of using knives as throwable weapons due to understanding and practicing the application of throwing weapons that were not weighted properly.
Bows:
As like any Ranger, and even trained to hunt when he was very young, Hayden has a natural affinity for bow weapon usage. His go to weapon is a Elven Recurve bow. Namely for requiring lower pull force to fire the arrow, while also being small enough to be used for mounted combat, and to be taken into smaller spaces that a longbow could not. His aim with traditional arrows as well as improvised, or specialized arrows is also a large factor of his capability.
Mounted Combat:
While not the strongest of Mounted combatants, Hayden is well suited to be able to fire a bow from horseback. However, due to the lack of any longer weaponry such as a lance or spear, its not often Haydn performs this feat.
Night Vision:
A side effect of being Half Nocturnal Elvish descent, Haydn has a superior night vision and low light vision than that of humans. However, it is not as well tuned as a pureblood of the Nocturnal Elves.
Sunlight Sensitivity:
Due to Nocturnal Elves having a much better night vision or even Dark Vision, it caused many of their race to have a sensitivity to bright lights. Blinding them. Haydn also deals with this. However, not to the same extent. He easily can be out during the day, but being outside on a bright sunny day, can cause headaches, and blurry vision.
Clairsentient:
A unique Ability of the Nocturnal Elves, is having a "feeling" in which the ground shifts, or rumbles. Feeling the slightest tectonic activity or lack there of. Again, while not as refined as his kindred, its better than not having it at all in some cases.
Canary Elves:
Like the name sake, Haydn is able to smell to a greater degree than humans. Distinguishing between toxic fumes and even just scent in general. Once more, Not as refined as his Elven kindred, but much better than base humans.
Soft Spoken:
Having a Human Father and a Nocturnal Mother, and the city outskirts in which he was born, means he has a wealth of languages he has learned. His father knowing Common and Elven, His Mother knowing Lanshitanian, or "Dark Elven" and Trade Languages. It gives him a huge starting leg when moving about and knowing a number of language and even sign language in which he can use to his advantage.
Hidden and Unseen Movement:
Training to be a Ranger, means being able to stake out locations, or to stalk prey. Hunting is the easiest way to explain any such activity this should be. Hunting anything from creatures to have for food, coin, creatures that are pests or dangers, or even people. Being unseen, hidden, with extremely silent movement, is the best way to go.
Mobility:
As someone who cannot wear armors, Haydn relies heavily on keeping distance from those who could easy overwhelm him. As such, learning to climb extremely difficult walls or formations, nimble and agile footwork to keep himself at a distance, and just being a fast runner and "Free Runner" to maximize his movement options.
Tactical Mind:
Haydn cannot just rush into conflict. One must use their mind before their weapon to determine what needs to be done. Drawing needlessly is dangerous. Drawing too late is also deadly. being tactful, and really thinking about a given situation is a requirement of anyone who tends to work on their own, and be in the wilderness or in an urban environment.

Personality
Soft spoken, rarely the focus of a room or group. Haydn tends to keep to himself. Holding his cards close to his chest. On the morality chart. He would be Chaotic Good - Lawful Neutral. Mostly due to the fact of having his own personal sense of "law" and "golden rule" philosophy. He's not beholden to Cultural, or Societal Laws or Norms. For Haydn, Its very much about the "nature of things" that he is intertwined with. People will always be evil, and People will also be good. Laws are created with a bias, and thus should be taken with a grain of salt. You don't attack people not because its "wrong" but because that's not how you would want to be treated, nor would you want to be on the receiving end of someone's ire.
However, like any younger person, barely an adult by many standards, Haydn understands and knows that others will look down on him, or see him as lesser. Even more so with his appearance, being of mixed racial heritage, and his own personal political and societal beliefs.

Biography & Lore
Born to a Human Father, Daric Erakson, and an Elvish Mother, Feyna Nol'dath. Haydn was stuck between two worlds. His early life was filled with seeing his Father during the day, and his mother at night. Always wondering how the two met. Told to him time and time again, that his Father was once a soldier who was attempting to join the Mallian Guard. And that one of the individuals who was going to be training such soldiers was Feyna. Much of what happened after is waved off as "The rest is history."
They had settled by the time that Haydn was birthed. As he was birthed in the home he grew up in for years. The Farm in which his father had owned and paid for with whatever money he could. His mother always told Haydn to not tell his father how much she spent of her own to keep it afloat for years, but that the both of them were well off by the time Haydn was even a twinkle in his fathers eye.
However, things don't always go how you want. The farm was having a rough time trying to break even. Money was being lost every year. Daric couldn't afford to pay all of the workers he had. Eventually, he had to do something to keep the farm from sinking. There wasn't much they could do. However, word of the failing farm was spread. Such, it was a soft target.
The farm was attacked. Daric and Feyna attempted to protect the farm from the fields burning. Haydn was only 5 years old by this time. Feyna fought her best against those who sought to take their living away from them. The last time he saw his mother, was her handing him a necklace, and rushing off into the fields to do her best to protect them. His father, Daric, attempted to hide him away. To hold him in the cellars. Yet the attackers found their way in. Daric hid his son under hay, and manure. Telling him to not come out no matter what.
Haydn watched his father. Watched as he was killed, slaughtered, and treated like filth. Haydn did as he was told. Staying put until found two days later.
Picked up by neighbors, and brought to the city of Mallian. Most of the perpetrators got away. Some were caught. Some were innocent. That night was a blur for Haydn. No other family to take care of him, to tend for him. Living in the Orphanage, and payment being covered by someone unknown to him.
At the age of 13, that benefactor was revealed. A Mercenary Human. Claiming him as his god-son. Geralt Haytham took the young man under his wing. Training him to fight and to fend for himself. Showing him how to be a Mercenary, but also specifically, a Ranger. An individual who can slide through the shadows of the forests, and the urban sprawls alike. using the mind as a weapon before all else. Haydn, all grown up, now seeks to make something of himself in the wider world.

Equipment
Elven Bow and Arrows:
An Elven made Bow, with Arrows given to him by his God-Father. Once owned by his mother, and is one of the last things he has that is connected to his family. While it is not ornate, it has a natural hum when in Haydn's hands. As if the item may have once been magical. Unnaturally light, and true to its aim, this is Haydn's go to weapon. Comes with a Quiver.
Seax and Parry Dagger:
A duo of weapons for close quarters combat. Extremely sharp and honed. Well taken care of as a tool and weapon to defend himself. Haydn's first "gift" to himself was spending coin on a Seax. A broad blade shortsword dagger mix. Blade heavy and used to slash and chop when necessary. Supplemented by a series of daggers, and throwing knifes. A trusty set of weaponry for someone who needs to defend themselves, or just skin game.
Hide, and Leather Clothing:
Armor is not quite the right word to use for the clothing Haydn typically wears. Mostly clothing that is rugged, with leather boots, bracers, a couple belts here and there for tools, and even a cloak for which he can wear. He also has a cowl for which he can pull up to obscure his face, or just to keep the dust out of his mouth and nose.
Grappling Hook and Line:
Scaling buildings, walls, natural formations and the like, one requires such a tool to aid them. This is an extremely useful item for one who needs to use it to traverse the world around them.

Companions/Familiars
Bellerophon:
A winged Horse of the Spine. The last gift given to Haydn by his God-father. The horse that Haydn had trained with for years and rode under Geralt's watchful eye. Making sure to keep the secret of the horse actually having the ability to fly and not just gallop along the earth. As such, being coveted as Warhorses, and mounts of even the nobility, Belleophon was trained to only respond to a key phrase in which he will allow himself to be ridden. So that only Geralt, and Haydn can ride. of course, he came with a saddle and some bags.
