Errune Thesius
Unlike the Royal family and the numerous noble houses of Thanasis that hold much of the prestige and power of the City of Dragons, the Thesius family is notable in that while they no longer have the influence or distinction they once had, they are still heralded as one of the earliest families known to have settled in Malakath, crucial to the initial settlement of the region before the great city of Thanasis shielded them all in exchange for their devotion to the winged beasts they worshipped.
In today's Thanasis, the Thesius family holds no real power. They are, however, greatly respected for their history and often consulted by the other families and houses as advisors, and the public sees them as an important historical symbol. Those born with the last name are expected to uphold the values, traditions, and leadership set by their forbearers.
Their continued presence is more cosmetic than anything else, but it's an anchor of tradition and a piece of history that all of Thanasis look to with reverence.
Errune, or Rune as he is called by family and friends, serves in the quiet halls of the Royal Palace Archives. A station willfully chosen to keep him away from the public and close to the source of Malakath's greatest collective of knowledge.
Appearance
Tall and lean, Rune no longer cuts the broad and imposing stature he once did. Though still fit and trim, he lacks the abundance of brawn he used to carry on his frame during his time serving in the military. His hair is a bright platinum blond and worn long, now, when it once had been kept quite short. His eyes a pale and piercing shade of green. Rune is presentable and clean shaven at all times, taking pride in his appearance as he seems to have so little left to take pride in. He can always be found dressed as though expecting to spend time within the Court, though he seldom ever does anymore.
Skills and Abilities
Once a powerful and highly respected warrior, a lifetime spent honing and training his body as well as mastering several bladed weapons has amounted to Rune's mightiest weapon yet: the quill pen. Having a sharp intelligence had always been his second greatest skill of note, Rune now spends his days in the Royal Archives. He's become a fount of wisdom on a seemingly endless supply of subjects, and knows the archive stacks and halls better than most.
Having always held a deep fascination for the beasts of Thanasis, he finds solace in cataloging the annals of the city, as well as the bloodlines of the many dragons that roam its skies. Rune is considered one of the foremost experts on this subject and often sought out for more information regarding the dragons of old and legend.

Personality
Once upon a time Rune was a common face at court, on the battle fields, and in the skies. Though never quite the center of attention, Rune rarely struggled to find a crowd to fit into.
Now? Were it not for his particular knowledge and skillset in the archives, he may have been all but forgotten for as little as he shows his face in society. Rune has become reclusive, preferring the company of his support hound to that of other people. He's generally even-tempered and polite, never a man to raise his voice or put a foot out of line in public. Appearances and impressions sit high in his priorities, and so he means not to make waves where they are not warranted.

Biography & Lore
Errune Thesius' story is well-known among the Court and other Houses. He made a name for himself at an early age, giving the realm a reason to believe that perhaps House Thesius might yet rise to glory and power again.
He bonded with a young silver dragon called Asari at the age of 6.
At age 16 he was betrothed to the beauteous Lady Emelin.
They wed when he was 19.
Emelin gave birth to his son a year later. They named him Roane.
Rune rose to fame, honor, and glory for his bravado and skill in battle. He and Asari enjoyed several years living among the High Nobility as one of their own with a promising future for himself and his family just a few years away. For a short time, House Thesius was on the rise - but it was not long to live.
At the age of 6, Roane succumbed to a sudden and terrible illness, leaving Rune and Emelin grief-stricken.
Two years later Emelin announced to Rune she would give him another child. She would later die in childbirth along with the infant.
From there, Errune Thesius' life began to spiral down a dark vortex that he would not recover from. In his deep depression he turned to his military duties. Family could not console him, and for certain his younger siblings may have written him off entirely. Rune had all but disappeared from their lives, signing on for every battle or mission or excursion he could find.
At age 29, Rune suffered his last and final loss in a tragic turn on the battlefield. His dragon, Asari, took a grievous wound that struck her from the skies. She died from the fall and Rune nearly did as well. At least, if you ask him today he would tell you he wished he had.
His injuries were so bad that he was honorably discharged from the military and sent home to recuperate with his family. It would take him two years to be able to walk on his own again, though he now does so with a permanent limp and must use a cane to get around. Rune spent several years languishing under the care of his family, but it wasn't until Raimond's dragon Ha'than took a mate who later laid a clutch of eggs that he began to take an interest in things again. This sparked Rune's curiosity, which lead him back to Court, and eventually to the Palace Archives where he later replaced the Head Archivist when he retired.
