Not much is known of Al'qadim. What is known by those outside his Mercenary band, is that he has an older brother who helped start the Second Sons. He is also well-respected by those who follow him. The markings on his exposed flesh could be identified by some as slave markings.

What is known by his men, is that he was a former slave and twenty-two years ago, an older knight named Stryfe Tal'deneshaar rescued him from his bandage. He would act as a mentor, as an older brother and show him the way of the world. While they settled in Vel Anir, their travels would see them roam the world over, and Al'qadim would fall in love with the faraway city of Ragash. When he was twenty-two, he would join his "brother" on a mission west, changing his name from Valar Tal'deneshaar, to Al'qadim Valar. He has lived mainly in Ragash since and currently serves Medja.
