Ahlya Taelin
Ahlya is a warm, wholesome young woman with an unfortunately shadowed past. Although her past is cloaked in death and shadow, she leads a simple and quiet life.
Appearance
Ahlya is a pretty young woman. She's average height and a very slender build. She keeps her brown hair cropped short. She has olive skin and dark freckles dust her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. She's very plain, normal, human. Only her eyes reveal the truth if you look too deep. Her beautiful hazel eyes reveal the true nature of the wolf that resides within her. They are almost uncanny if you look to close. When you look into her eyes you might get the sense that someone else is watching you, or that you're being hunted.

Personality
Having lived with this curse since she became a woman, Ahlya is very resilient. She has seen the dark side of the curse and is determined to either live with it, or end it. She's also deeply empathetic and cares deeply for others, which often means distancing herself from them. She has hut too many people, and seen firsthand the destruction the curse can cause, and has no desire to cause any more pain.
Biography & Lore
Ahlya grew up a fairly normal life in a rural village in Cortos. Her mother was a respected healer, and her father once served as a hunter- One of the few who could protect them from any wayward wilderness who dared to encroach on their small village. Behind the scenes, though, something more sinister ran through their veins. A curse, placed on their bloodline generations ago. Ahlya was raised on stories of her family's past, though her mother always downplayed the gravity of the curse. Her father, on the other hand, was ever distant and oddly consumed by guilt.
At the age of 10, Ahylas mother died under mysterious circumstances. She was found a mile away in the forest, as if she was brought there by some mysterious force. There were whispers of wolves among the villagers but Ahlya and her father knew the truth. Her mothers death was a tragic consequence of her blood curse.
Ahlya turned for the first time around the same time that she became a woman. It was a full moon and the transformation was painful, violent, and uncontrollable. It was unlike any story her mother had told her of control and discipline. Part her felt betrayed by this realization. Why wouldn't her mother have prepared her for this? Her senses were heightened to a degree that was overwhelming, and she had an overwhelming urge to run wild under the stars.
Her father, consumed by the grief of the tragic loss of his beloved wife and unable to live beside this curse any longer, left the village. This abandonment gutted Ahlya and left her with nowhere to go but with her aged grandmother whom the village assumed had gone a little senile. The batty old woman would always tell tales of wolfmen and curses. Ahlya learned quickly that her grandmother was telling real stories of her family's shadowed past.
Ahlya was able to gather information from her grandmother about an uncle she had, who had been banished from the village. At the age of 16, she left to find him. She found him living in solitude in Ragash. A simple tradesman with few friends and little coin to his name. She lived with him for a while, helping him with his work while he did his best to help her control her affliction.
Try as she might, Ahlya struggled to get a handle on her condition and it worsened over time. Her changes were becoming more frequent and seemed tied to her emotions, the wolf was now ever-present in her head. Her transformations were almost nightly and she would remember little to nothing of what happened the morning after. One morning, Ahlya awoke to find herself covered in blood, and her uncle dead beside her. Terrified and devasted, she fled the city. She traveled for days, as far from civilization as she could.
Ahlya has been alone ever since, trying to quell the wolf within her. As she has aged and learned to control her emotions better, the wolf has quieted. She now feels more comfortable being around civilization. She spends a majority of her time working and trying to research her condition. She currently resides in Elbion and works as an alchemist, much to the dismay of the wolf. Though she has done her best to make peace with the wolf, she takes certain precautions so as not to hurt anyone. She keeps everyone she meets at arms length and lives a solitary life.
