The days leading up to Solstice always brought many souls around Arethil hope reignited for the end of winter. Spring was soon to come, and at last the longest night has come to an end and heralded by the rising sun.

In every culture, every family, traditions in this time of merriment was celebrated. Whether one takes part in every yuletide celebration or quietly honours their own tradition, festivities were never far away. It is a time to reflect on the year passed, to look forward to another winter seen as the sun beckons closer to warmer days. This is a time for many to write, whether it be to friends and family a letter of gratitude and well wishes, or even a yuletide wish to burn in bonfires to battle the long hours of night.

Perhaps a note to oneself to remind them of their strength, to get out whatever they have been bottling up inside for so long.

During Yuletide, words will be written. Ink will meet parchment. Gifts would be exchanged. Laughter and mirth will fill halls large or small.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Has your character been meaning to write a quick yuletide greeting to their mother? Or grandmother? Or great great great grandmother?

Friends, family, and foes. Season's greetings or season's grievances, I would love to see how different characters all over our world of Arethil would celebrate this festive season. If you are not sure of how this is structured, look no further than Heart & Hearth Day! Big or small, everyone loves getting handwritten letters!

Vallabha-Ilhar,

As the blessèd moon reaches the very apex of her sway, I pray her mithril-gilt shimmer reveals you having already profited handsomely from my absence, as you have for so many decades predicted you would. After all, you would be the very first to remind me that I was ever the weighty burden to you and our noble house. I trust you found a way, in your profound wisdom and expert proficiency, to acquire the tome required by the first-house wizard by the deadline he demanded. My research and preparation suggested a nearly impossible challenge, fully fraught with the very direst of perils and the steepest of consequences both corporeal and social - why, it would have been the literal death of me to even attempt it alone. Alas for the fall of House Voiryn if you have not! If you instead find your newly shebali self disgraced and defrocked, beaten and hobbled, shivering in some sewer in the very bowels of the Undercity, staring at a morsel of ripplebark in one hand and a dagger in the other, I would deign to share my own, undoubtedly inferior advice: one of these things is surprisingly pleasant in the belly; the other is not. I leave it to you to puzzle out which is which.

Indelibly your drada’dalharil,

~V~
