The days leading up to Solstice always brought many souls around Arethil hope reignited for the end of winter. Spring was soon to come, and at last the longest night has come to an end and heralded by the rising sun.
In every culture, every family, traditions in this time of merriment was celebrated. Whether one takes part in every yuletide celebration or quietly honours their own tradition, festivities were never far away. It is a time to reflect on the year passed, to look forward to another winter seen as the sun beckons closer to warmer days. This is a time for many to write, whether it be to friends and family a letter of gratitude and well wishes, or even a yuletide wish to burn in bonfires to battle the long hours of night.
Perhaps a note to oneself to remind them of their strength, to get out whatever they have been bottling up inside for so long.
During Yuletide, words will be written. Ink will meet parchment. Gifts would be exchanged. Laughter and mirth will fill halls large or small.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Has your character been meaning to write a quick yuletide greeting to their mother? Or grandmother? Or great great great grandmother?
Friends, family, and foes. Season's greetings or season's grievances, I would love to see how different characters all over our world of Arethil would celebrate this festive season. If you are not sure of how this is structured, look no further than Heart & Hearth Day! Big or small, everyone loves getting handwritten letters!
