Satisfying.

That was the right word. Her Holy Shield wasn't as effective against foes who weren't her Favored Enemies, but it was effective enough. The Danarian rider, for reasons particular to him, came charging at Jane for a passing strike. Maybe he would have gotten her with that fancy feint and twirl move he had done with his sword, if Jane had stayed high and tried to block it. But she ducked low and obliquely rammed her shield into his mount, causing a delicious shriek from both man and beast alike. The man was thrown, and the night just kept getting better as his own horse ended up crashing down on his leg.

Jane grinned. The white light lining the rim of her shield was gone, the Holy boon expended. But the rest of the cavalry was coming, rounding the corner in a formation and with numbers that didn't spell a good time for either her or Khari. Especially not Khari.

Jane hardly had time to look down, to see what Khari's objection might have been about. But then something incredible happened, and Jane's gaze leveled back out slowly to her front as she watched. It didn't happen often, but she was stunned in a moment of awe as she witnessed a torrent of shadow simply manifest and decimate all before it, those riders seemingly disappeared behind that roiling black curtain.

Staring with a dazed look of wonder, Jane said as she panted, "You know...I wouldn't mind...if you led with that...more often, Khari."
