Fable - Ask Scouting

A roleplay which may be open to join but you must ask the creator first
"Right, second watch, sounds swell." He didn't argue past that. If Rhory wanted to play trapmaker and Arn got himself some rest that'd all work out just fine.

Of course, it was the last thing that Arn said which perked the Odren Guard's ears a bit. A suggestion that was so brilliant he was surprised he didn't think of it first. "We've definitely scouted enough. Gained some vital intel about Cortosi hybrid beasts." He nodded along with his statement as if it was an obviously genius plan. "Should get back to camp and let them all know before we get met with greater harms."

He could tell from the disapproving glances Felix and Rhory paid him that the suggestion wasn't going over too well.

"Fiiine, we'll re-assess at first light," he set his sleeping bag out and fluffed his pillow, "I guess."

It truly was a much better plan to simply head back home, at least in his mind.

Felix woke him a bit later and Owain dutifully took over second watch. Only drifting off a single time before the sun began to crest the horizon and the others stirred awake.

The traps didn't set off in the night, except for the trap she fashioned in hopes of catching fish.

Rhory had awoken moments before hand and went to inspect the traps around their camp perimeter, lastly going to the river to pull in the trap she had made. Three decent sized trout. She presented the trap to the others, small grin on her face. "At least the fish aren't weirded out like those hounds."

Arn let out a whistle as Felix told him the factoid about his father. ”Ain't that something.”

The Farmboy said, always having found it interesting how diverse the Guard was. Vel Anir, whether for better or for worse, pulled it's soldiers from every walk of life. Whether high born or peasant, it didn't matter. Everyone did their year in the Guard, and some did many more. For some reason though, it'd never occurred to him though that someone might be a surgeon's son.

Not that it really mattered, right now he was more than glad about the fact.

”Thanks.” He told the other lad, trying not to let his disappointment show at the fact that they likely wouldn't be heading back tomorrow. ”I'll try to recover best I can.”

The hulk or a Farmboy said with a quick shy smile before he settled down in his bedrolls for the night. Sleep coming quickly, though no rest finding him. His dreams plagued by the monsters which had rent his side, and small whimpers escaping his throat more than once during the passage of the night.

By the time dawn came, Arn was alr day well awake. Though he kept his eyes closed just to try and drag a little more sleep out of the ever catch less abyss.

When Rho returned, Arn finally sat up. Wincing slightly when the wound in his side ached. ”Well that's good.”

The Farmboy said, dark circles under his eyes.

”Think it's like Owain said?” He asked, glancing specifically at Felix and Rho. ”Are the…Cortosi making these? Is that even possible?”

The thought made his stomach turn.

Even after his watch was over, Felix struggled to go to sleep, but thankfully exhaustion eventually took him into slumber before he finally bolted awake early the next morning. Since he had not been woken up, that probably meant they weren't dying.

As for early morning roles, Felix quickly went about packing up supplies.

"Arn, rest for as long as possible. That wound won't be fun while we walk."

His own wounds had not been as deep and were holding out fine. He should check with Rhory and Owain at some point to make sure they were ok as well, since he had not checked either of them.

The question about the beasts was more unsettling to think about.

"Probably, magic can do anything, but...why would they just have them running around randomly in the dark? It seems dangerous."
