The darkness was not an ally to him this time. Eyes blacker than night swept the city, and the pinpoints of torchlight left long, burning tracks in his vision. Movement was the easiest to detect, and he slowly and deliberately scanned.

Several times he was lead astray by blowing banners or cats, and he even caught sight of a gryphon flying low in the distance. As he circled a low tower a second time, he cast his gaze out further in the direction the footsteps had been going.

He shouldn't have expected this to be easy for so much money. He liked to think of himself as an exceptional bounty hunter, but was he better than the scores that had surely sought this prize? Only time would tell. He had been foolish enough to let her slip through his fingers once already, he would not let that happen again.

There. Two shadows moving side by side. He turned to approach them and felt the rushing wind build around him. Rooftop runners, or two very large cats.

Rob stayed ready as he ran behind Wren. It was obvious she was planning something, he just had to be ready to act when she made her move.

This really hadn’t been how he planned on spending his day. He had just planned on getting the essentials and perhaps doing some browsing, but now he was stuck here.

He was almost certain, even though he was rather sure this wasn’t his fault, that he would never hear the end of it when they got out of this.
