Completed Human Cargo

Cassidy didn't say anything in response to Gaz's thinly veiled wish for bloodshed, though he grimaced and quickened his pace to the encampment. During the meal the night before, the conversation he'd had with her had given Cassidy some hope that perhaps Gnolls could indeed co-exist with Humanity. Gaz's own previous actions had spoken to a possibility, saving him from those brigands when there had been no gain in it for her.

However, it was quickly becoming apparent that such a union of species wasn't likely any time soon. It wasn't until much later, as they finally reached the encampment and Gaz was to be taken to receive medical attention that Cassidy replied to her. He didn't think she'd much like what he had to say though...

"As long as there are differences between your people and other peoples, there will be those who will seek violence against you. That doesn't mean that blood needs to bring about more blood. So long as you respond to every opposition you and your kind face with violence and bloodshed, you will continue to be known as little more than savages. They will never know the truth of how wonderful a people you can be, so long as you remain unable to turn your backs and walk away."

Gahesznem

Gahesznem rested reclined over a primitive yet intricate lean-to. She was silent a bit as she listened before shaking her head. »You speak wise words, Cassidy, under any other setting I would have agreed in a heartbeat. But in this ordeal, the first one to drop their spear will suffer, for the opposition will not be merciful or just to us. Outlaws heed no law, they are beyond it. While our human subjects live in peace with us as dictated by the glorious mother Basaph and father of mankind Khotseti.«
Of course, she might have insinuated something worse there. Gahesznem liked her human subjects, even if relations currently seem timid on their part, the many farmers and workers of the Hesheb delta at the end of the day appreciated having a caste of warriors protecting them. Those that oppose this rule will become outcasts of society over time.

»I fear the bandits may have a bounty on your head as the one who slew their beloved captain, it is no longer safe for you here...You can ask the hard-working Niankhkhnum for provision if you need any.«
