Maja
The Black Keep - Southern Cortosi Coast

Maja stared through the small slit in her cell door, the remaining pupil of what most people thought was her only good eye staring straight ahead even as the Black Clad Guard threw a tray of food through the opening.
A laugh echoed out form the hallway, muffled by the thick walls and barely resounding in the reaches of her cell. She didn't move as she heard it, though she knew exactly who it came from. Jessik, a Guard that had made his home in the Black Keep almost as long as she had. He was kinder than the others, though not by much.
Maja could see a pair of eyes stare back at her through the slot, meeting her gaze for a few moments before it slowly pulled away, as though looking for too long would cause the man to explode. Footsteps rang out, but the small slit remained open.
Had he forgotten?
Lips thinned for just the briefest moment, a breath filling her lungs as she looked down at the rock by her side. The cobble had been there for a thousand years, but for the last two decades it had been hers. She had slowly ground it down, slowly cut into it, and now it was ready. A breath filled her lungs, and then her hand slid over the symbol she had carved in the rock.
No one had ever escaped the Black Keep before, those that had dreamed of it all ended up dead or thrown into some further depth. A part of her believed it would be the same for her, but after twenty years...she was ready to find out.
Maja took one final breath, and then an explosion rocked the Black Keep.
Chaos erupted.

"Spooky bitch, hasn't said a word all day."

"She hasn't said a word in twenty years, kid. Get used to it."
