What had initially seemed like a small skirmish brought on by a group of rogues now appeared to be a full onslaught from these scaled creatures.
The naga that approached her wielded a large moon-shaped sickle. It swung down towards and a quick parry she had learned from the Major aided in avoiding it. What was his big lesson though? Watch your opponent's feet? What if your opponent didn't have any feet? Brilliant stuff.
Not deterred by her parry the snake whipped his weapon horizontally this time and Colette had to back-step quickly to avoid being sliced into two pieces. As the curved blade moved beyond her she instantly lunged forward and drove her blade into the naga's midsection. The beast gurgled and hissed but then fell silent as she pulled the blood-painted sword back out.
Her eyes shot over towards the nobleman's location to find emptiness. Had he been slain already? Had their entire mission failed just like that? That was when she noticed it, a scrap of his fine clothing dangling from a nearby tree. The boy had managed to scurry up into one of the trees and was, for now, undiscovered.
Though if Colette had noticed him so easily it was only a matter of time until their reptilian foes did the same.
