Alec let out a low whistle and Peter coughed awkwardly. It was a well known song amongst them. In fact, it was often sung with her own name in it but to turn it like that was.... cold. Even for their Commander. Kain cleared his throat a little to answer
Cassian's question.
"Probably another hour or two," the sun was already beginning to dip again past the midday point and on the horizon now the city was beginning to become a lot clearer. From this distance it looked like a large castle instead of a sprawling city with the way it was built. As if sensing the groups need for speed Lexi kicked her horse into a gallop along the river bank to speed up the journey.
It was sunset when the city of Evora finally loomed before them.
The horses hooves clattered as they hit stone after passing under the large archway that was the main entrance to the city. It had started off simply as a library back in the day, then the need for Scholars to live nearby, their families, staff, and more had grown until the library had evolved into a pulsating city. The main street ran like a helter skelter slowly up and up to till it levelled at the top where the core centre of the library lived. For the records could not simply be contained to one building and it flowed deep under the city in a complicated series of warrens and rooms.
Horns blared out across the city to herald the Commanders return and Lexi's whole form grew more rigid the further in they went. This should have felt like home but it did not when she saw the banner men of The Forgotten dotted here and there, loitering in doorways. They nodded as she passed but there was a dark and cold look about them.
"Alec, Peter, why don't you go and show Cass the barracks where he can settle in," Lexi murmured as their horses walked. Even her tone was flat.
"Sure Lexi," Peter glanced to his new friend.
"You alright with that?"
