Fate - First Reply Blood On the Rocks[Pirates]

A 1x1 Roleplay where the first writer to respond can join
Chaos was good.

Seyah couldn't agree more, she just needed the direction of where that chaos should go. A frown pulled at her lips as quickly her eyes darted over the fallen orcs that were now scattered over the decks. "Tumi!"

She called out to the Ogre, his head almost immediately turning. The Taverness gestured towards some of the corpses.

"Bring them to me!" Within the span of a few seconds the Ogre grabbed up more than three of the corpses, lugging them like barrels and following behind Seyah as she rushed towards the back of the ship.

Thuds echoed out as the bodies were dropped to the floor, the Taverness already opening the wound on her hand as she began a quick chant.

Crimson splashed over the corpses, her blood mixing with what was already spilled...and then each of the corpses began to smoke. A black smog erupting from their forms, Seyah motioning for Tumi to throw each of them over the edge of the ship. Obscuring the direction the Siren was going in.

Edward was busy.

A cutlass whistled by his ear only to follow up slicing dangerously close to his neck as Edward scrambled to dodge backwards. The Captain lashed out with his own attacks, but being on the back foot made them poorly balanced and destined for failure.

He was finally pushed to the side falling onto his back with his assailant towering over him ready to deliver the final blow.

"Should pay attention to where you stand."

Edward grabbed the rope near his hand and pulled which tightened directly around the foot of his attacker causing him to stumble...right into Edward's waiting sword.

"Shame, I..."

Wait, was that? His head whipped around to see the trail of smoke coming from the ship and he smiled. Excellent, Edward whispered into the air and once again the wind picked up as the trail of smoke miraculously started to bend and drift in the direction of the pursuing ships. It was time to make their move.

"Bean, get us out of here now!"

Almost as soon as Edward shouted, the Siren began to turn. Cutting towards the left and away from the cliffs as billowing clouds of smoke erupted from the ocean.

Seyah's breath caught in her lungs as she watched their pursuers disappear within the smog, lips pressing to a thin line as she turned back towards the deck below. Koltic was busy smashing another of the pirates into the railing, the rest of the crew making surprisingly quick work of the remaining Orks who had boarded.

The thundering of her heart began to slow, and as they cut away from the cliffs Seyah finally allowed herself to breath.

"Well." She said with a long drawn out sigh. "That was certainly, exciting."

Her words weren't meant for anyone in particular, but the Great Ogre besides her let out a snort of a laugh. Not in derision, but simple amusement. "Life is always exciting with you around."

The former Death Watch member said, causing a grin to spread on Seyah's lips.

Edward just stood there as he watched their ship quickly begin to put distance between them and their pursuers. He could feel the wind whipping through his hair as a broad smile spread out onto his face, he had done it again.

Suddenly his merriment was cut short as he fell to the ground clutching at his chest feeling like he had just taken a cheap shot right in the stomach. There was no wind, it had left him, even as he tried to suck in air to breathe. No matter how hard he tried, he was suffocating. This was the price to pay when he asked too much. The winds were making it know that he had stretched his favor thin.

All around him, the crew was still whipping out the last of the boarding party, most of them not even noticing their Captain's panic. He just had to hold out, it always came back. Except this time, it wasn't the momentarily breathlessness that often followed his simple tricks.

The lack of oxygen clawed at his brain as his vision dimmed, he gripped at his chest begging his lungs to do anything. He tried to speak but no words could work their way from his lips before darkness took him.

As the last of the boarding party was cut down, Seyah allowed herself a moment to relax. Slow breaths filling her lungs with sea air, eyes closing as the lingering sounds of battle still rung out from the deck below.

For the first time in what felt like hours she could relax. Her mission done and her duty for Talmanes complete, at least mostly. Her deal with Naghi stood, and if the half-giant survived the interference of his brothers a new ship would soon be sent.

One laden with arms, and returning with gold. "You've quite out done yourself, Captain."

Seyah said, her eyes opening and sweeping over the deck as she searched for Edward.

Confusion flickering at first over her features as she noticed his absence, and then a frantic search finding him laying upon the ground. Cursing, the Taverness quickly rushed through the remaining crowd, running to Edward's side and gently grabbing his face.

"Captain?!" She said, her fingers drawing against his throat, finding the slowing of his pulse. "Edward!"

Seyah called, demanding his attention even as he began to fade. Bloody fingers scrambling as she prepared a ritual that might help.

Through the shroud of darkness that was taking him, Edward could vaguely hear someone screaming out Captain to him. Was that Bean? They really needed to work on deepening his voice. Still, it was nice to be called Captain, it had a nice ring to it.

By now the oxygen deprivation had fully gotten to Edward's mind and it would be easy to see by someone like Seyah that Edward was no longer breathing.

The rest of the crew was starting to notice and several scrambled over also yelling out Ed's name in concern, Someone was screaming for the doctor and then had to be reminded that they had not had a doctor for two years after Rattail left. That response was only met with a slap to the back of the head.

Rolf pushed his way to the front taking a long look at Edward before turning to Seyah with a pleading look in his eye.

"Can you help him?"

The Witch seemed to stall for a moment, her lips parting in an answer that never came.

Seyah knew that she very likely could help the Captain, but the trouble was she didn't actually know what was wrong with him. His pulse was steadily flowing away, his eyes were growing hazy...but for all she could tell there was nothing wrong with him.

No wound to heal. Nothing for her to stitch up or close. "I-"

Lips pressed to a thin line, and for a brief moment she wondered if it would not be better for Edward to die. The man had saved her life, but he knew secrets that could destroy her life. Allowing him to pass would have been convenient, simple even.

But it would not have been right.

Cursing her mother's teachings, Seyah slipped the blade from it's sheath upon her wrist once more. The steel flickering over her palm as she recited quiet words.

Crimson pooled within the confines of her hands, the blood holding an odd sort of shimmer as she whispered. Her eyes growing black for just a brief moment, before she gently scooped up Edward's head and tipped it just enough.

"Maybe." She finally answered Rolf, bringing her hand to Ed's lips and forcing him to drink the blood.

Though she knew not what was wrong with him, the ritual was one of vigor and vitality. Created of her own blood, and forcing life where there was none to be found. Her mother had used it to bring back a near dying man, and perhaps that would be enough here.

Even if Seyah did not know exactly what was wrong with Edward, her ritual unknowingly had the desired effect of saving his life. The winds had abandoned him, only momentarily, but that was all the time needed for him to go unconscious because of a lack of oxygen, by the time it came back, his lungs were no longer working.

Seyah's ritual seemed to induce all of Ed's muscles to tense at once before relaxing, and in doing so often urged the lungs to work just enough to suck in the slightest amount of air.

Suddenly, Edward lurched forward as he shot back to the land of the living gasping for breaths in between a coughing fit. The crew jumped back in surprise but all had big smiles on their face.

Edward did his best to look around and figure out what everyone was doing, but he quickly put together what must have happened. He pushed himself too hard this time...and someone had saved him. His eyes turned to Seyah.

"I suppose I owe you for that one." Another coughing spree cut him off again before he tried to get back to his feet.

"Alright, let's get back to work. We still need to put distance between us and them."

The crew seemed hesitant to leave their Captain, but with a shooing motion, they all went back to their posts. Edward leaned on the side of the ship trying to take a moment and take more deep and stable breaths to get himself under control.

As soon as Ed's head shot in a fit of coughs, Seyah released her grasp. Fingers sleeping away as her palm quickly swept to the side, blood still dripping down onto the deck.

Crimson shimmered as it splattered across the wood, seeming almost like a slick of oil over the water. Tumi seemed to step in close towards the two of them, his boot scraping against the fallen blood before anyone could take too close of a look.

She shot him a smile, and then flickered her attention to Ed. "Think nothing of it, Captain."

Seyah said softly.

"Think of it as a favor between friends." Slowly she stood, using the help of her Ogre companion. Bare feet touching the deck as she allowed Edward to spurn his crew before finishing. "Friends that keep each others secrets."

The Taverness said as she joined him to lean against the railing.

Edward was slowly regaining himself, the fatigue that came from a near-death experience still hanging on his shoulders like a fresh weight. Still, the breeze as the ship cut through the waves did bring a smile to his face. Near-death had been a fair price.

His crew was going to get paid. They now had a contact in Tyr and maybe he had made a new friend.

"Favors always get repaid." He looked over to smile at Seyah before looking into the sunset with a smile.

"But aye, that's the best type of friend."
