The Queenslayer, Rahi'Valsharess, Ilharess Myrlochar, and Yathallar of Maelzafan.

Appearance

Tyrnael Myrlochar (turn-EYE-yell MURR-low-char) is youthful, lithe, of average height, and in keeping with House Myrlochar's tendency to select only the most attractive mates, considered among the great beauties of her generation.

Skills and Abilities

As a high priestess of Maelzafan, Tyrnael can summon a demonweb, tap into the chaotic, bloodthirsty powers of her goddess, and heal most injuries and conditions. She can also tap into Maelzafan's hatred to inflict grievous wounds, her preferred means of punishment. She carries only a double-bladed sacrificial dagger as a weapon, which she is given to absently twirl and spin whenever she is upset, disappointed, or excited.

Tyrnael is a skilled Vornyx-rider with a keen, ruthless tactical mind and has already proven herself to be a thoughtful but decisive general. She seeks out advantage wherever it lies and then seizes that advantage, seeking to cause maximum damage while augmenting and preserving her forces. Her timely intervention and ingenious rout of orcish mercenaries coming to Shay Tirloc's aid was a primary factor in the success of the Vyx'arian forces' siege.

As a highborn drow, she cannot be magically made to sleep, is resistant to poisons and magical charms, and can sense the weave of magic at will. Once each day, she can levitate herself or another person or object weighing up to a quarter-ton, or temporarily suppress a magical effect. The duration of this is dependent on the load. For herself alone in her typical degree of equipment, she can maintain the spell for up to ten minutes. If lifting a full quarter ton, she can only maintain the spell for a minute at most. She has keen senses of hearing, smell, and eyesight, and can see in complete darkness out to 120 feet, but is seriously hampered in full daylight, and may be temporarily blinded by sudden bursts of bright light.

Personality

Tyrnael is perceptive, patient, and above all, ambitious. When she strikes, she does so swiftly, mercilessly, and thoroughly. She prizes skill, competence, decisiveness, discipline, and wrath. She deeply loves her surviving family members, and is loyal to Vyx'aria despite harboring deep feelings of resentment for killing her younger sisters. The loss of her family has shaken her faith and she wonders whether she is still favored, despite her personal acclaim.

Biography & Lore

Tyrnael was born the third daughter and fifth child of Matron Elzyrra Myrlochar, Regent of Zar’Ahal in Vyx'aria's first reign and Dalrithia's reign. Tyrnael was a special favorite of Yathrin Beksesha Suulet’jabar while at cadre, and she still considers the venerable matron of House Suulet'jabar her greatest mentor. In just her first century of her life, she soared upward through the novitiate and junior ranks of the Temple of Maelzafan, then joined the Yathallarin, the high priestesses of Maelzafan, at only age 125: the youngest to do so in a millenium.

After her mother supported Dalrithia’s usurpation of the Zar’Ahal throne, Tyrnael was ordered along with both her older sisters to stand in Dalrithia's vanguard during her military campaigns. After her older sisters and many senior daughters of the Great Houses of Zar'Ahal fell in the endless battles and skirmishes of Dalrithia's ill-fated campaign, she abruptly found herself commander of Dalrithia's queensguard and heir to House Myrlochar. Then, her mother Elzyrra died in a botched ceremony to bind the archdemon Azrakar.

Maelzafan sent Tyrnael a divine messenger, telling her of her mother's failure and her contempt for Dalrithia's failures, and demanding that Tyrnael make an appropriate sacrifice. So Tyrnael assassinated Dalrithia, and took her head as her battle standard. Then she led the remnants of the once 10,000 strong army of Zar'Ahal back, by way of Shay Tirloc, meaning to inform the Regent there of Dalrithia's fall, resupply, and replace some of the army's losses. She found the twin spires under siege by the new Valsharess's forces, stubbornly defended by Dalrithia's regent. Having been told by the messenger that a new valsharess had already risen in Zar'Ahal, Tyrnael joined the attackers, led by Zathria At'Arel, and formally pledged her allegiance to Vyx'aria.

When the Twinned Armies of Zar'Ahal returned in triumph, Tyrnael was greeted by her older brother Kmindu's head on a pike outside the gate, alongside the heads of his sycophantic gaggle of watch-members. Inside, she learned that two of her younger sisters had also supported the Twin'Znar-led Dalrithian loyalists and fought against Vyx'aria's return. Only her oldest brother, Ferzil Myrlochar, who had locked House Myrlochar's doors against Twin'Znar forces seeking reinforcements, and her youngest sister, Namriel Myrlochar, who had just barely begun her acolyteship at the Temple of Maelzafan, were spared in Vyx'aria's brutal purge. She was now de facto matriarch of House Myrlochar, but it was a hollow husk of its former glory.

At Vyx'aria's re-coronation, Tyrnael was forced to watch her younger sisters' execution. Almost immediately afterward, she was named as one of Vyx'aria's four most trusted agents. So now she finds herself needing to rebuild House Myrlochar from its own ashes, while also being called upon to aid Vyx'aria as she seeks to unite all Drow in the Underrealm, then claim a surface duchy through which to broker power all over Arethil. While Tyrnael has always admired and respected Vyx'aria, she felt bitterly betrayed by the queen's dogmatic insistence on executing her younger sisters.

Desperate to bolster her shattered house against the coming storm, Tyrnael recently redeemed an orcish champion she had fought and captured before the gates of Shay Tirloc, White Snake, scion of an infamous warchief. Further shocking the already shocked Great Houses of the Rise, Tyrnael adopted White Snake into her House, named him her Weapons-Master, and took him as a lover. He changed his name to Darkoath, referencing the scars both he and Tyrnael now bear on their left hands from their fate-pact.
