Shay Tirloc
Overview
Shay Tirloc is a sprawling city of some 23,000 souls in the Underrealm. It is famed for the pair of prominent stalagmites dominating the center of the town and the enormous cavern surrounding it. The city holds great strategic importance, as its cavern is a major Underrealm crossroad. It is a vassal city of Zar'Ahal, the Drow capital.
Demographic
Shay Tirloc is mostly peopled by Drow, with the remainder being made up of slaves, merchants, and traders of numerous Underrealm and surface species. The wealthier members live inside the walls and moat, within or close to the stalagmite spires. The poorest live outside the protection of the walls and moat.
Points of Interest
Jusron and Yath: The twin stalagmites housing the Regent's palace, the ancient but still active military fortress, and the local Temple of Maelzafan are bubbled with towers, domes, outcroppings, balconies, and siege platforms. Jusron was extensively damaged by Hebemarri's dragonbreath and Tyrnael Myrlochar's legion of battlemages and priestesses during the Battle of Shay Tirloc.
Toothtown: Several walled neighborhoods of noble compounds hug the stalagmites, circling a grand crossroad plaza lying between the towers of Jusron and Yath.
Midmarket: A middle walled town packed with merchant houses, marketplaces, warehouses, and a red light district, all catering to Toothtown nobles.
Wallburgh: A chaotic jumble of better-off shebali residences, meandering narrow streets, alleyways, craft houses, brothels, and drinking houses.
At'Arel Way: A grand elevated road that rises from the drawbridge through two gate houses into Wallburgh, Midmarket, and Toothtown, then finally to the crossroad plaza immediately amidst the looming towers of Jusron and Yath. It was once called Moatspire Road, but was recently rededicated to the City's liberator, Zathria At'Arel.
Maelzafan's Murk: A deep, oily, murky moat several hundred feet (roughly 100 meters) across. It is rumored to be haunted by undead. Countless corpses of slaves, executed traitors and heretics, battle-slain foes, and murder victims have been dumped into its waters for millenia.
The Darkmaiden's Tongue: A magically actuated wrought-darksteel drawbridge connecting Zar'Ahal Road to At'Arel Way.
Murkwater: A sprawling slum of cramped hovels belonging to the poorest shebali families, slave pens, indigent shanties, slaughterhouses, fullers, open marketplaces of all sizes and types, and non-drow ghettos ringing the murky, oily outer moat that surrounds the two stalagmite towers. Many of its huts and shanties were damaged or destroyed during the Battle of Shay Tirloc, and many slaves and shebali died in the crossfire. Several large slave pens and makeshift barracks have been erected while the destroyed sections are slowly rebuilt.
Zar'Ahal Road/Shay Tirloc Road: A well-tended trade road connecting the Drowish cities of Zar'Ahal and Shay Tirloc.

History
Shay Tirloc has been held by the Drow for millenia. It began as a military outpost of nearby Zar'Ahal, then a trade post, a town, and eventually a crowded, sprawling city ringed by ghettos and slums. Shortly after the Return of the Queen, the Battle of Shay Tirloc decimated the city's nobility, destroyed most of the city's military defenses housed in Jusron Tower, and laid waste to broad swaths of the outlying slums and ghettos.
