J'Darak is a rare Black Orc, or Urcgais, from the Taagi Baara Steppes. He stands just under six feet eight, big and intimidating, and often slouches in a relaxed way. His leathery black-and-grey skin, weathered by wind and rain, covers his strong, hairy chest, arms, and legs. His long, messy dreadlocks are tied back. J'Darak has a rugged face that always looks alert, with beady golden eyes under heavy brows and a thick jaw set in a grimace. His lower teeth and tusks jut over his upper lip due to his underbite. He wears rough animal hides -sometimes untanned- and a half jerkin over one shoulder. Around his neck, he carries the jawbone of a creature he killed in the Steppes during his coming of age- a trophy that reminds him where he comes from.

Moghahk grew up on the Steppes, learning to hunt before he learned to fight. He’s rough, but surprisingly skilled with a bow for his size. His father and clan warriors taught him to fight by instinct, not by technique. He prefers a black-iron great-axe, a heavy weapon that splits armor as easily as firewood.

Moghahk is direct and hard to stop, much like a storm. He enjoys what’s right in front of him and destroys anything that gets in his way. He wants others to be straightforward. Long words bother him, clever talk confuses him, and fragile things around him often don’t survive his anger. He trusts speech that is slow and blunt.

Moghahk was born into the powerful Draal Gulhag clan, among the rare Black Orcs who ruled part of the Steppes. He grew up with comfort, fine furs, skilled hunters, and loud feasts, but he soon grew restless and spent more time outdoors. By sixteen, he was a better hunter than most adults. By twenty-one, his fierce fighting made him stand out as a future chief.

As a young adult, everything changed when his mother died. His father fell into grief and drink, and rival clans became more daring. Moghahk responded in the orcish way: he overthrew his father, led a violent coup, and took the chieftain’s seat. Soon after, he and his brother started winning new territory for Draal Gulhag.

For three years, Moghahk led successful campaigns. His wars shook the Steppes; villages burned, clans gave up, and even foreign lands felt his raids. The fear he spread brought the smaller tribes together, forcing a peace that weakened his rule.

Then came the prophecy.

The prophecy changed everything. The clan’s Witches said Moghahk would bring ruin to all Orcish tribes, and many believed them. In anger, Moghahk and his loyal warriors attacked the Sage Hall, killing the Witches and their lords. Seeing wild, unnatural magic there broke something inside him. During the battle, his brother Agnir died from sorcery, passing away in Moghahk’s arms.

After his clan was destroyed and his home burned, Moghahk fled into the wild. From then on, magic became his greatest fear. He came to believe that the only way to escape its curse was to eat the flesh of magic-users, hoping to gain strength from what he feared most.

Now J’Darak wanders as a war-chief without a tribe, exiled by his own choices. He still dreams of reclaiming a throne made from bone and ash.
