A Thanasian minor noble and rider of the white dragon Taivas. She is an active soldier and mercenary.

Skills and Abilities

  • Dragon-riding: Evirea has spent a significant amount of time riding since she was a child. She and her dragon have forged a minor psychic bond. Evirea can exercise more precise control over her dragon by issuing rudimentary commands mentally.
  • Marksmanship
  • Dancing: The Nymbos family prides itself in teaching their children all manner of arts, valuing a well-rounded education. She is proficient in aerial dancing and forms resembling ballet and capoeira.
  • Swordsmanship
  • Polearms

Personality

  • Nervous
  • Cautious
  • Observant
  • Analytical (often overly so)
  • Awkward
  • Perfectionist
Evirea grew up under the lofty and suffocating expectations of her family, knowing a sort of vague hostility for much of her youth due to "taking" her sister's dragon. Though Evirea's family tried to mold her into a perfect noblewoman and warrior, becoming both of those things is very, very hard for someone to do in the short life she's lived. Something had to give, and that turned out to be her social skills.

She's a capable fighter, but not a diplomat. The difference in demeanor when on the battlefield compared to civilian life can be stark. Evirea is a consummate professional, very clear and confident in her speech when working, but can easily trip over her words when the topic is anything but work.

Abilities
His element is air. The fins on his back and neck are flexible, able to be folded back against his body to reduce drag or raised to increase drag and help slow him down. His four wings, coupled with his elemental powers, provide him unmatched agility, speed, and stamina in flight. Although Taivas can't breathe fire, he can produce gusts or drafts, create small cyclones, fire ball lightning from his mouth, and electrify his body.

His impressive aerial capabilities come at the cost of awkwardness on the ground. While his long body is flexible, his short legs make it so he can't run all that fast, though he can overtake humans. Taivas doesn't have the stamina to run along the ground for long, though.

Combat
Taivas and Evirea favor hit-and-run tactics. They often provide support to larger dragons, harassing and picking off enemy combatants when they're engaged with allies. That said, they are perfectly capable of engaging in direct combat. The white dragon breed is known for the gift of magic, and his air element provides plenty of destructive capabilities. The pair have taken part in a number of battles and skirmishes, and these experiences granted Taivas masterful control over his element.

His relatively small size is both a blessing and a curse. He's small enough that Evirea can easily mount when he crouches, so he isn't a brawler. He relies on his innate flight capability, augmented by his elemental powers, to evade attacks and keep at a distance. His hide, while tough, does not have the famed durability and toughness that many larger dragons possess.

Besides his elemental powers, Taivas is often used to carry flechettes. While impractical against single targets, they can be dropped on units to indiscriminately kill from high altitudes.

Biography & Lore

The Nymboses are a minor noble house, thus low on the totem pole. They have little say in political matters, and the family does not even breed dragonkin. Despite this, the family rose above commoners through mercantilism. Their wealth allowed them to purchase titles. While the family today partakes in far more politicking to attempt to curry favor, this pursuit wasn't lost on the family, though not all members have a knack for it. The family still has the wealth to educate its children well so they can become more enticing marriage prospects, hoping to marry up and gain status. Alternatively, the Nymbos children will have their talents put to use and sell their skills for the good of the house.

Evirea is not a businesswoman. She is literate, was taught mathematics and sciences, and is a skilled dancer, though by no means a master. Where her talents really lie are in war. Taivas' egg was meant for her older sister as part of a dowry. However, the hatchling inadvertently bonded to Evirea. A scandal erupted; being a dowry gift, it was intended for the bride-to-be, but she did not receive it. However, her sister's suitor and his family could not offer another egg. The hatchling still stayed in the family, and one dragon egg by itself was an invaluable treasure that the family was lucky to have in the first place. The marriage couldn't be canceled without losing face, so the two continued on, though it did create resentment for the young dragon rider.

The Nymbos family could make something out of the situation, though. Taivas' air element wasn't suited for many profitable ventures, with one exception: warfare. Evirea grew up training rigorously under the Ascended to prepare her for a life on the battlefield. Though she learned the arts like any fine lady ought to, her focus was primarily honing her skills in combat. A dead woman cannot be a refined and cultured one, not that she'll ever become one at this rate.

Evirea and Taivas took part in multiple skirmishes, selling their skills as mercenaries to decisively end battles. With the services of a dragon commanding exorbitant amounts of money, she didn't need to be much good at negotiation. Her family handled monetary affairs, including negotiating a price for her and Taivas' service. The money they earned helped Evirea gain favor within her family despite the earlier scandal, and both proved to be invaluable assets. She herself left all the politicking and trade to her family, content to simply have a home and let them and their servants handle menial tasks.
