Completed Blackstone Deep

Syvis stood up quickly and hopped out the fighting field.

Fhaornik stumbled back letting out a hysterical laugh. It was apparent where Syvis' machochism in physical fights came from. He composed himself and stood up still cackling. "You have nerves of steel. Striking a man in his own home. Yet I admire you. I've no use for Syvis, I've had no use for the babe since she was born. She's all yours, you are worthy dear boy."

He walked up to his daughter and laid a large hand upon her shoulders asking her lowly "Is this truly what you wish to choose?"

"Yes, with all of me yes." She had yet to meet the grey eyes that mirrored her own.

"I know better than to stop you dear daughter. You've always a place in my estate." He brushed her cheek. Then turned around arms outstretched, "It appears you have broken part of my ravishing face. While my mage attends to me dine the first course without me than we shall discuss the wedding." Fhaornik squealed out like a deranged man as he pushed the heavy doors leaving Syvis and Conrad alone.

He just about made good on his threat to cut the hand off, if not for the words that left his mouth. And he chose to listen instead. Her reply warmed his heart, and he removed his hand from his sword hilt.

Conrad relaxed once he left and turned to Syvis. "Are you alright? You aren't too hurt are you?

Syvis' face got more lit up as her father left and she jumped onto Conrad's lap she didn't care where they were. "You defended my honour." She gave him kisses all over his face.

"I'm shaken up but that went better than I thought." She told him honestly. "You don't have to listen the wedding plans. He's crazy."

They were interrupted by the kitchen doors banging open and salads being set in front of them. "Ah so the two hour dinner begins." Syvis giggled hoping to her seat again.

He hugged her back and said, "of course, how could I just stand by and watch that happen?"

"I'm shaken up but that went better than I thought." She told him honestly. "You don't have to listen the wedding plans. He's crazy."

He Chuckled, "yes, I gathered that much."

He leaned over and picked up the gauntlet that he'd used and put it back in his coat. "Though he didn't react the way I thought he would."

He cocked an eyebrow. "That seems to be an awfully long time to spend eating." He commented.

"How did you think he'd react? He's more unpredictable than I, yet I was more alike to him as a young girl then I wish to admit. That's what made your uncle lash me." She covered her mouth with her hand, she'd implied it yet never actually told Conrad.

She giggled, "Darling this is a shortened Elven event. You're looking at around seventeen small courses. Unless you wish to get out early? If so I have many tricks up my sleeve." She started stabbing at the leafy greens with her fork.

"This place was to be mine you know? After the old man finally croaked." She said absentmindedly.

"I thought he'd either accept the challenge or not bother about that and just attack me. Wait, my uncle is the one who lashed you? Surely he gave you another option." He asked, he had suspected this to be the case ever since she spoke of his uncle with him, but he still hadn't been entirely sure.

Seventeen? "Are you sure that's the number of courses? I sure hope they're small, cause I don't know if I'd actually be able to eat that much to begin with."

"This place was to be mine you know? After the old man finally croaked." She said absentmindedly.

"Don't know if it'll happen now." He replied. "I'm sorry if I screwed things up for you."

"He offered me servitude or lashing. I remember thinking I'd belong to no man or his mangy mutt. I was wretched." She told him, her lashing was her choice.

"Positive. They're light and drink the weird vile you get given. Erases everything. I haven't had a good Elven meal in a while." She giggled and the kitchen staff sprinted in dropping a black liquid vile and taking her plate. Syvis drank it politely and her feeling of hunger was reinstated.

"You screwed nothing up. I'm the only Quimaer heir. It's all mine, Fhaornik isn't dull of wit." She laughed. Syvis heard her father's paces and the thunk of the doors opening.

Oh, it was that kind of deal. "Okay, I think you might have misunderstood what he meant. He would likely have asked you to infiltrate a castle or fort and open the postern. Or go gather information, or sabotage something belonging to the enemy."

"Seems a little wasteful to me but, alright." He shrugged.

"Well I'm glad I haven't caused you any major grief."

"I couldn't do that. My skills are mine, I don't care about me working off some stupid coin purse. I refuse to let some man dictate my every move. Some man I didn't even like." Syvis spoke fiery before regaining her composure. "I didn't even mean to tell you. It was accidental perhaps it's best if we drop it." She said cooly.

"It is what people would call wasteful, I grew up on it. People with power do what they wish no use trying to stop it." Syvis shrugged back at him. "You can try and eat it all without the help, but I doubt you'd make it."

Fhaornik glided into the room. "Ah yes here we are. I'm good as new isn't that fantastic?" He said enthusiastically. He sat down at the head of the table in his over adorned chair.

"Still like to sit in a mock throne?" Syvis mused.

"Mock! You know as well as I girl that our kin acquired such beauty from one of the many fallen Dwarven cities. You should be so lucky to gaze upon such magnificence" He exclaimed back at her. "Or did you forget about our proud history in the span of these many years. Perhaps you should pick up some literature." Fhaornik swished his goblet.

"I got called upon for business. Dinner will be cut short but I implore you to stay the night. For an old man's heart. Your room is as you left it awaiting your return of course. It's too late for you to travel back to my other estate.' He said as he dug into his first course pretending as if he didn't subtly flex power.

He dropped the subject as requested and continued eating, until at last her father returned. His mild banter with Syvis was a little amusing but he still wasn't entirely sure of the man.

When he said dinner would be cut short he felt a little relieved. He might not have to eat so much. So he ate politely until such time as he was directly addressed.

Syvis' and Fhaornik's banter continued for a few minutes before he cast his gaze upon Conrad. "Do tell me what is you do? How do you intend to keep up with Syvis' outrageous spending? Have you a estate?" He asked Conrad rapid fire.

There were the questions Syvis had been expected. She lifted her hand, "That's hardly how you speak to a guest."

Fhaornik's gaze cut into Syvis. "The men are talking, this is no place for your wit." He looked at Syvis before waving a hand. "Leave us."

Syvis looked shocked. "The middle of dining? I could do no such thing! It is impolite."

He stared at Syvis. "Your host, and father, your giver of life, is telling you to leave the table. Go to your room, Conrad and I have much to discuss." Syvis nodded.

He had been about to reply, until Syvis cut in, then she too was interrupted by her father who instructed she leave. Normally he'd object, but this was something meant to be discussed between the men.

He nodded to Syvis, "go ahead. This is something traditionally discussed between the men, it's almost non-negotiable. Don't worry about it."

Then once she had gone he answered the question. "Well for one, I'm a fighter, a strategist, and when I need to be, a general. Her lavish spending can be supported by hard work, and a permanent home, which I am in a position to provide. As for the estate, not quite. My family lords over an independent state bordering the Kinniger Duchy, when my own father grows tired of being a lord, then I will take his place. Until such time, I have a few merchant connections I... acquired through various means. So not yet to the last question, but I promised your daughter a castle, and I'll get her one."

Fhaornik cackled, "You will learn her seductive ways. She could get you to promise the world yet. I approve of your plans yes. If you find your pockets running short I have centuries of funds and one heiress, this is all meant to be hers and should you wed her; yours. With that comes great responsibility. She will not take your surname Conrad. I named her after a strong willed woman and she has proven to her namesake. Despite my treatment of her she has my heart and despite your skills I am not a man you wish to cross. For I know of you and your funds. I will ruin you if you so much as destroy her in any of the such ways I have. You understand me yes?" Fhaornik stared Conrad in eyes. This was one of the very few moments the elven noble seemed to give a damn about his daughter.

Fhaornik raised his goblet the wine spilling over the sides a tad. "Let us toast for my daughter is finally no longer my possession." The elvish man smiled joyfully.

Standard fatherly threats and warnings. Conrad had no intention of forcing anything on Syvis, nor to destroy her. He confirmed politely, "I understand perfectly." though it was clear that he didn't see Fhaornik as any real threat.

Conrad raised his own goblet, joining the toast, it wasn't often he drank alcohol but he wasn't very easily effected by it so a glass couldn't hurt. "To your daughter's security and happiness."

Fhaornik waved his hand dismissively before screaming in Elven, at the end of his bellows a sickly looking human urchin came rushing into the room.

The child did not speak to Conrad but tried to make a feeble attempt at moving the chair containing him. "Forgive the creature, he does not speak common tongue. If you are to beat him avoid his face." Upon more observation it would become clear this boy was a slave.

The boy looked at Fhaornik and Conrad terrified before stepping back waving with his hand at Conrad. He was trying to escort the Vampire to the wing in which they'd be staying tonight.

"I must be off, don't steal anything." Fhaornik slapped Conrad on the back while he cackled like the two men were friends for centuries. He strode out a different door leaving Conrad and the terrified boy alone.

When the man was gone Conrad turned to the boy, and utilized his basic understanding of elven. The boy would be able to tell that he wasn't completely fluent but knew enough to get by.

"Sorry about that. No need to be frightened child. What is your name?" He asked in his best elven as the boy guided him.

Upon arriving he entered the room and handed the boy a small pouch of gold for his troubles.

If Syvis were in there he'd ask, "I hope I didn't take too long."

The little boy giggled at Conrad's bad elven. "Creature, name Lord Quimaer gave me." he declined the gold and scampered off.

Syvis looked at Conrad worried as she ran across a room decorated for a 15 year old girl. Syvis gave him a big kiss. "I'm sorry for dragging you here." She leaned into him he seemed in one piece. She braced herself for being yelled at.

She was disgraced by her father's child slaves she always had been but there were only so many battles she could fight in a day.

He smiled at her, "aw. Kitten."

He rubbed her cheek with his thumb. Then he removed his belt, and expertly secured her arms behind her, similarly to how he used the rawhide.

He stripped down, and stood in front of her. "Get to work pet."

The following morning was, again, exactly like all the previous ones. He was up and dressed, and she was lying in bed. Most likely sore from the... creative use of the conical bedknobs of her bedposts.

"Morning Kitten, sleep well?"

"Whatever size you see fit love." Syvis told him honestly.

Syvis pouted a little before going into her old closets. Yes, the gowns were ten years out of style but a gown's a gown. She slipped into a purple one and came out. "Amazed this one still fits." She looked down at her chest area that was displayed more so than usual. "Well nearly fits." Syvis giggled giving him a kiss. Perhaps her goal was to be as cruel as possible today as she gave a little hop excitement.

"It's breakfast time!"
