Varys
Varys is an Elven Nomad. Orphaned from his supposed father at the age of 13, he fled to the city after his cabin in the woods of Falwood was destroyed in 365. While the citizens of Fal'Addas were willing to aid him until he was grown enough to fend for himself, being thrust back into a self supportive role saw him turn to swindling and conning other residents of the city out of their money, led in by his charming and warm charade to play rigged games against him at cost. Varys is a brazen, headstrong and sometimes outright rude young man, and yet despite this unsavory attitude, Traveling Performer and Transmutist Jonathan Burr saw potential in the young vagabond. Taking Varys under his wing, Burr mentored the young Elf into a blossoming young mage. Through adventures all across Arethil, he has become attuned with his power as a Speaker, one who can speak with the world around him to perform incredible feats. After discovering the truth behind his origins, he now travels the world in hopes that he can hone his skills and spread hope to those in dire need of it.
Appearance
Varys is a handsome young elf. His white hair, once kept neatly behind his ears and neck, has grown out quite a bit since accepting life as a nomad. Nevertheless, he makes an attempt to tame it at least somewhat. His eyes are a pale golden hue. When on business, He wears a black, expensive looking white linen shirt, with a dark black vest and dress pants, purchased for him to allow him to better mingle with nobles and aristocrats. When on the road, he forgoes fancy dress for a simple black jacket with white undershirt. He has a small blue insignia imprinted on the back of his neck which is usually hidden by his hair, and a birthmark on his left pectoral.
Skills and Abilities
Varys is a talented cheat, a skill born out of a need to garner funds to keep a roof over his head. He can be deceptive in his mannerisms and expressions, and is keenly aware of how many elves tend to think. He has little experience with other species in this regard, however. During his apprenticeship under Jonathan Burr, he gained a bevvy of ability in transmutation through 'speaking' to the world around him. Prodigious in his talent, he has become a powerful force to be reckoned with when he allows himself to focus on a task and put forth his full effort.
Personality
As a youth, while he would often project a friendly and playful demeanor to his 'victims' and the innkeepers, Varys was a very disillusioned and bitter creature. Having grown up with a cold, mistreating father who only ever seemed to care about the condition of his body has made the now of age Varys into a cold and aggressive young man. This changed after life on the road with his companions began to mature him. With new experience came a calmer mind, and while still sometimes brash and quick to anger, Varys has grown greatly. Now a young adult, he exudes a confidence and level-headedness of elves twice his age. He is still prone to mean spirited teasing at times, and is quick to anger, but his vast amount of experience at such a young age have begun to mold him into a natural leader.
