Ulgen Tarkhan
A human from the Aberresai Savannah, Ulgen of the Tarkhan Clan is a skilled martial artist and arcane scholar who spends his days pursuing knowledge, capable of absorbing new ideas readily. Unfortunately, he tends to view the world differently from most people, thanks to his unique gift of autism.
Appearance
Ulgen has the typical appearance of the nomads, with his light brown skin tone and black hair. Dark eyes stare with intensity whenever he interacts with someone socially, in order to concentrate and not be distracted by his surroundings which are usually filled with colour and noises.
Skills and Abilities
A skilled martial artist, Ulgen is capable of fighting with most weapons, ranging from poles and spears to swords and axes. However, most of the time he is comfortable enough to fight his foes unarmed by augmenting his body with aura magic, allowing him to move faster and strike harder. The combination of his martial arts and aura magic allows him to achieve superhuman feats, including running across water surfaces and climbing up vertical walls without any equipment.
By channelling his own aura magic onto his weapon, he is capable of creating illusions of his weapon that can actually harm his enemies. A dazzling display of shimmering swords can cut through the air, all created by his own aura magic and willpower.
He is also capable of nullifying magic effects around him, thus catching his foes in surprise when they attempt to strike him down with magical flames or lightning and realising that they are unable to do so in his presence.

Personality
Suffering from autism, Ulgen is generally reserved and quiet. He dislikes huge crowds and long interactions, preferring to spend his time meditating among nature, reading books that he has acquired or practice his martial arts in the wee hours of the morning.
Biography & Lore
The nomadic tribes of the Aberresai Savannah believed in their own pantheon of deities. One of the deities was Ulgen, the Marshal of the Gates. Legends said that when a great flood occurred on Earth, Ulgen took pity of the humans and secretly went down to Earth to rescue them. The lord of Heavens discovered his act and Ulgen was cast down upon Earth as punishment, cursed to walk among the living.
To remember the deeds of Ulgen, the nomadic tribes would celebrate the day where Ulgen was cast down upon Earth, called the Day of Forgiveness. People celebrated, sing and dance and pray to the heavens on behalf of Ulgen to ask for forgiveness. They believed that one day, Ulgen would finally return to the skies and escape the fate of reincarnation.
Ulgen was named after the selfless deity by his father, the Khan of the Tarkhan Clan. The Tarkhan Clan had survived and established itself among the countless clans in the Savannah, and his father had wished for Ulgen to grow up to become a fine warrior. However, everyone soon realised that Ulgen was different. The boy would struggle to speak until he was older and was easily distracted by his surroundings. But he has the natural affinity to the ways of the warrior, easily picking up movements of the warriors who trained in the fields.
By the time he was twenty five, Ulgen Tarkhan was more than capable of beating anyone in his tribe in single combat. When he concentrated, he could to tap upon the arcane to nullify magic effects around him or increase the intensity of the arcane spells that he casted. However, he remained aloof and found it difficult to socialise with others. His father finally accepted that Ulgen would never be suited to take over the reins of the Clan and appointed Ulgen's brother instead, while Ulgen was more than happy to continue his meditation and learning.
Eventually, the man decided that he needed to pursue new knowledge elsewhere. He had heard of tales regarding the College of Elbion in the North and decided to head towards his new destination.
